I happened to be visiting family in Houston and they recommended going to Gringo's for dinner. When I tell you I was blown away!!!! The flavors and the quality of the ingredients come through even in a take away order. We ordered combo fajitas and the quesadillas and enjoyed them so much. They have good service, and surprisingly, some of the items are good. Some of the other reviews really annoy me, though. Are you kidding me? Some of the people say all they have is plain Mexican food. Um, it's Texan. It's American. But they don't have any Mexican food. I mean there is nothing Mexican on this menu. Not in any authentic sense anyway. Not if you've spent any time in Mexico. Having said all of that, as far as Tex-Mex goes, which is the regional cuisine of Houston to some degree, this is better than most and is easily four stars, just like the other location down the road. read more

I have been going to these restaurants for years, and this is my first review. I will start by saying all Gringo's are not the same. I enjoy the Pearland and Rosenberg location. I heard a new Katy location just opened, so I will try them next. On this particular day I had Nachos and the meat was not as seasoned as they normally are, but they were still good. The margaritas are why I come here to be honest. The price at happy hour is well worth it. When it's in season, their hatch Chile queso is a must. We were in Rosenberg for a few days and decided to have dinner at the Local Gringo's which I believe is a fairly new location for them! Our server's name was Cole and he was very good and attentive! He came and introduced himself and took our drink orders and then brought Chips and Green and Red Salsa to our table. He asked if we wanted any of their appetizers and we went for the Queso as our 7 year old will almost make a meal out of that and chips! The thing I liked the most was that it came with slices of fresh raw and sliced pickled jalapenos!!! I almost always order a side of pickled jalapenos to go with orders of Queso so I can have a few cheese nachos! We then ordered our 7 year old their chicken nuggets and fries, while my wife had the Mariachi dinner with two chicken enchiladas,two chicken taquitos, and two Southwest Egg rolls. I ordered the Traditional Crispy tacos with beef. Everything we ordered was really good!!! I tried a bit of my wife's Chicken Enchiladas and they were really good, but so were my tacos!!! The little one ate all of his Chicken nuggets and swore they were the best he's ever had, even better than McDonald's!!! That was very good for him as he's always snacking anyways! We really like this location it has a very pleasant atmosphere and we really did like our waiter, he was a very nice young man. For our drinks, the little one wanted a Coke, my wife only wanted water and I had sweet tea with lemon! [As of 4 September 2021] Another family dinner. Dinner at Gringo's. RESTAURANT: This dining spot is located in a prime area, next to multiple eateries, stores, and the main highway. Getting to the restaurant is easy once you navigate through all the busy traffic. STAFF: The staff's customer service is spotty. Our initial greeting when entering the restaurant was a question: "How many people in our party?" Then we suffered an enormous wait time for our food to be served. The table seated after us got their food before us! When ours arrived, it was delivered by the on-duty manager. Surprisingly, she never introduced herself as the manager nor apologized for the inconvenience until we reminded her. She then apologized and explained how business was quite busy. Out running some errands and spending the day with my daughter and grandkids. We wanted lunch but don't eat in my car. Gringo's is doing dine in right now and it's limited seating. You have to register on line on their wait list. Pull up to the tented area and tell them your want to dine in. They text you and you check in with the front area. Then they seat you. All servers are wearing gloves and masks. There is a sign on the front door that you must have a mask on but that is not enforced. Your seated and handed a one sheet paper menu. Been here quite a few times. To be very honest nothing stands out to the point of me wanting or craving the food. The servers are ok. The food is mediocre and doesn't feel the true authenticity of Mexican food. I have had tastier tacos from a taco truck. I WISH we had this in Florida. This restaurant was amazing! I loved the interior and atmosphere. The menu was loaded with several Tex-Mex options. This place truly has great, authentic Tex-Mex food. We were rapidly seated and greeted. Water and drinks came out at a great time AND the food actually came out quick, too. The presentation of the food was beautiful for each plate. My drink - as I am a more brown spirited guy, I really wanted rum and not tequila, which they have $4.50 house margarita which my party commented was strong and delicious. I noticed that drinks in Texas are naturally made well and strong. :) SO my drink was the cactus juice which had spice rum and omg it was like a banana mama but with rum lol. It was so good but I didn't know that it was served in a huge cup, like 32 ounces so be warned. The food - fresh, delicious and authentic. The food tasted so home made and I truly enjoyed it. Terrible take out experience last night. Two easy Summer Specials. queso . When I got home, there was actually an empty queso container in the bag. I called the store and the manager said come back and he would make it right. I go back to the store, show him the empty container, and his customer service solution was to give me a small container of queso and comp one of the two meals. I told him the additional, unnecessary 30 minute round trip would result in both meals going cold and asked they both be comped. His response was I comped one meal and walked off! What's the hype? This place is always packed and if you don't have prior reservations it can be pretty difficult to get in without waiting awhile: So I've been to many Tex-mex or Mexican type of restaurants some are better than others. This, not so much. Busy night as always but the wifey wanted some Mexican food so we order beef fajitas and some tacos. Although served on a sizzling plate this slab of meat seems pretty old and not very tasty. It was like eating a cool piece of lard and wasn't very appetizing. The tacos can be compared to Taco Bell but I actually think that Taco Bell flavoring might have even beat it. Price didn't justify the experience we had because guess what? Now I ended up finishing it off and yet I still had 2 other tummies to feed. I hate having to eat again after going to a restaurant to fulfill the initial request. This was my first visit to this very popular Mexican eatery in Brazo Town Center. The atmosphere was fun and energized but loud, bustling with laughter and conversation as I approached the hostess stand. I was having an early dinner (4:00'sh) so I had expected less patrons and was lucky to grab one of the last few tables open. I was seated immediately at a 2-top booth on the end of the main isle which was far from relaxing with constant traffic passing my table. I should have spoken up and requested another table off the main isle. Since it was quite busy I didn't which is totally on me. I just never enjoy being in the main traffic pattern. The restaurant has three dining areas with 2-seat and 4-seat booths, tables and a large bar. The lively bar was full and by this time patrons were hovering for bar stools. The menu was diverse and covered all the staples required for a good Mexican restaurant. They had three Hatch Chili specials that were ending the following day. The harvest season for hatch chili's is August and September and Gringo's was wrapping up the season by featuring a Hatch Chili Fiesta with Queso, Enchiladas, and Camarones. I found a terrific selection of appetizers with nachos, queso, quesadillas, Southwest egg rolls plus much more. The diverse menu features several Combo Plates, Chimichangas, Pork Tamales, Fajitas, several Seafood options, Salad and Soups and all the Classics (burritos, flautas, tacos, chalupas, and fajitas). Two types of salsa and chips were delivered shortly after I sat down. The red salsa has a slightly thick pureed texture with a slight kick to it. The green avocado sauce has a thicker consistency with a cool, refreshing taste. I enjoyed both with my humungous bowl of warm chips and as a topping for my enchiladas. I ordered the wonderful Hatch Chili Chicken Enchiladas served with tender spanish rice and flavorful charro beans with cilantro and tiny sausage pieces. Excellent flavors and the hatch chilies were a nice touch. To bad this isn't staying on the menu. My server, Brandon, was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I had devoured so many chips I had to take most of my dinner home. Brandon boxed my leftovers, brought extra cups of salsa and bagged everything to go. I will visit Gringo's again when I return to Rosenberg. The prices are affordable, delicious food, a varied menu offering many of our favorites with friendly and attentive servers. read more

I am not a huge fan of Tex Mex, but WOW! Gringo's is up there! Everything from the complimentary chips and dip, to the main course, and of course, the ice cream afterwards! Our waiter so was attentive, and extremely kind. I am a sucker for great customer service. I had the pollo marisco, and it was sooooo delicious. I am salivating as I write this review. My boyfriend got the seafood enchiladas, but I think the pollo marisco was way better. Even taking my leftover togo, it was just as good in the restaurant. I am happy too because they gave us a full bag of chips to go, with the green salsa! I wish there was one closer in Houston, then I would be there every weekend. read more
