Just ordered more fuel oil to be delivered to my underground tank. Grimm's promptly answer the phone and took my order. The gal offered to deliver on Saturday if I was critically low, which was very thoughtful. I wasn't critically low and they came Monday and delivered the fuel, just as they promised. The "delivered" by dumping all the material on the street, blocking 3/4 of the street. Somehow this was acceptable in their mind. I called to complain and the proceeded to blame me for their incompetence. Would NEVER do business with this company again. Rude and completely unprofessional. And YES blocking a public transit way is illegal , but it's my fault they "had to " break the law. read more

This review is late and I give it as a warning. Last December we had a landscape contractor do some fairly extensive work on our front yard. As requested, they applied gravel to part of the landscape, and a heavy mulch to the rest. What appalled me was the enormous amount of plastic micro-trash in the mulch: bits of plastic bags, broken pieces of toys, aluminum wrappers, cellophane, rubber.... you name it, we probably found it. I've ordered mulch from various places over many years and have never seen such a mess, and we are still picking things out after the rain or waterings. I asked the contractor recently where this horrible mulch came from: She went to her files and it was Grimm's. Apparently they don't ordinarily use Grimm's except in the winter when their normal supplier is unavailable. She said that she was glad to know of our unhappiness for future clients, and I trust you will be glad too. read more

I am a landscape contractor, and while I love grimms products and prices, they are unreliable and fail on customer service time and time again. I really want to like these guys and have given them too many chances, but they don't value me as a customer. Says they are open til' 5pm on Saturday with no mention that while they are open, they don't take any yard debris after 4:30pm. Drove a significant distance to arrive within their posted hours only to be turned away. Extremely frustrating. read more

No longer accept wood waste and made no mention of it on their website. I am now stick with a truck overloaded with wood and cannot get it to another drop place for the rest of the work week. Attendants have always been rude. Take your business where they treat people's time with respect. read more

They screwed up my order and then they denied it. I wanted brown bark and they sent a big stinking pile of black topsoil and mulch. I had to pay to have it hauled away and ordered what I needed from Mt. Scott. They got it right! read more

We recently ordered 7 yds of mulch from them . We have used their services a number of times in the past with no difficulties. This time was different. The truck they sent out for delivery was huge and had a number of loads of mulch in it. In retrospect , I should have not allowed it on our driveway. In the process of getting in and out , the end of my driveway as it meets the street got crushed. They sent a staff member out to look at the damage and he said it already had a crack and hence it was not their fault that the driveway got significantly damaged. It may have had a crack , my driveway is older, but it truly got crushed by the truck trying to get into and out of my driveway. The driver quickly noted that the form you sign for acceptance of the mulch states that they are not liable for any damage beyond the street. Suffice to say my follow up outreach to Grimm's was trying and met with rather hostile responses and being told the same thing that the driver said and to just have my insurance company contact them and "that is why we have insurance." I have chosen to just fix my driveway and not have my home owners insurance involved. The uncaring responses I got from their staff , and their complete denial of any responsibility for the damage is why I will not be using their services in the future. The old axiom, "buyer beware" appears appropriate here. read more

Yesterday, 2 workers delivered and blew 1.5 units of fir bark and they arrived within specified time frame, were courteous, and did a wonderful job of blowing and cleaning up afterwards. No hesitation to recommend. read more

I have a large lot so I needed 4 plus units of bark dust and it is mostly way back from the street, over the years I have spent weeks moving it off the driveway. I ordered 4 units and it came today with a crew of three men, they arrived on time, had a great product, blew it out back and cleaned up, doing a real professional job often missing today. We had 3 yards of dark hemlock blown in to our front & back yards. The guys did a great job & were really wonderful & pleasant to work with. For thecleanup they blew off the patios & walkways & they also washed off all the plants. Thank you Grimm's! read more

Found Grimm's on Angie's list, contacted them via message and they were prompt and helpful replying. Made an appointment to blow in 1 unit of dark hemlock mulch Saturday (5/21/16) between 9:00 am -10:00 am. The gentlemen arrived at 9:15, spoke about the process and where I wanted the mulch, as they were blowing in the mulch it looked beautiful. They were very professional and helpful on the services Grimm's provides, in my opinion they went above the call of duty assisting me with the service. A couple of days later as the mulch dried I noticed that it was taking on a reddish/brown color, I looked on line and found that dark hemlock should be much darker. I contact Grimm's with my concerns and sent them photos, I received a call from the Mulch department Manager Robert. He explained to me that I did not get dark hemlock, but brown hemlock, they had ran out of the dark hemlock a while ago and the truck was loaded with the lighter color. I asked him why I was not notified of this so I could make the decision if I wanted the substitute. He said the front office was not aware of this and he apologized for the switch, then asked me if they could come out and spray garden mulch on top of the brown mulch. I told them that would be too much, and with foot traffic and dog traffic, it would look horrible in no time. Then he ask me if I wanted a refund, I am a reasonable person and I told him we should go half, I did receive a product, it was just not what I wanted, I did not love it, but I did not hate it either, he agreed. I received the check in the mail yesterday (6/6/16) for half of what I paid. I was a bit worried because the check did not come when he originally said it would be here, I contacted Dan another Manager and he assured me it was indeed in the mail. I want to thank Grimm's for working with me, turning a bad situation tolerable, they could have easily argued that I received mulch, but they were willing to compromise, that is all I asked. read more

I had Grimm's fuel out to spray a unit of mulch in my back yard. We had a careful conversation about where the mulch went, where my property lines were at the back of the yard and if I wanted the mulch mounded around trees at the back of the yard. They told me that I needed to stay inside because the hose could hop around and hit you. I took my 4 yr old child inside. I heard them turning off the blower. I went outside and they had sprayed 1/4 of the mulch on stuff like kids' toys and under shrubs that I had not asked to be sprayed. They put all the mulch at top of my hill where it was easiest to reach. When I came out and explained my dissappointment they told me " well, you never had enough anyways and we only sprayed a few yards on that area". They told me that they'd make me a "deal" and I could buy another two units for the price of a unit and 1/2. If they had told me that the unit I had would not cover my entire hill, I would have prioritize the bottom of the hill, the area that had the property lines they so carefully questioned. To say the least they are poor communicators. I feel I was strong armed into spending another $500 with them. read more

I had 3.5 units of bark mulch blown in my yard. I know from previous experience that 3.5 units was enough to cover my beds with 2-3 inches. They overfilled the front of the house nearest the truck, filled areas I asked not to fill and then the ran out of bark before they got to the back of my yard. When I asked them to move some of the bark they had overfilled they said they did not have time to to that. Mostly I would say they were just lazy and did not care. read more

I called Grimm's Fuel Co. today to order some heating oil. Not only did a live person answer the phone and took my order, but said that they might be able to deliver today. About 30 minutes later a smiling gentleman named Mike arrived with the heating oil. On a Saturday! That's what I call phenomenal customer service! read more

Grimm's pricing is good and they're close by my house. I typically have them deliver, but once in a while pick-up myself. The only reason it's not five stars is that every so often I have to wait ten minutes when loading the truck. read more

Purchased a 1/2 chord of mixed hardwood delivered. very well seasoned. I would recommend if your are looking for some good firewood without having to go out and look for yourself before your buy. read more
