Grillies on yonge is newly opened classic late night American style hangover food place.
Good about this place is you get to choose your spice level, kinds of toppings, dressings and more. Down side is it can get little overwhelming for first timer and create long line up.
I tried 3 tacos: Chicken, pork and beef, cheese burger and chicken burrito along with staff's favorite lemonade.
Fresh lemonade was 9/10. It's perfectly sour to cut down all the fat and saltiness from food.
3 spicy tacos: toddler's hand size $3 taco(without promo: 3.99) were salty, lack of stuffings(and of course I asked to add most of ingredients on the list. If they did scoop of all ingredients i asked, tacos should be loaded with stuffings), overly salty meats and lack of ingredients caused barely edible tacos for me(these are no for sober but could be not bad to pair with beers when you are already drunk though). I only ended up eating one bite each and had to say bye. They were all equally unenjoyable due to saltiness but if I have to choose one meat out of all, I will say beef for now.
Cheese burger was classic one you will expect from late night shop. Patty is smash style and it was little bit thinner side.
Lastly chicken burrito was also another classic American late night style burrito. It was also lack in ingredients but unlike tacos, it was edible. Personally it was little better than burger but they are almost head to head.
Service at the counter was 10/10. The cashier staff was very nice and patient with everyone in line. He himself made the whole visit extremely pleasant. However, they seem to still struggling with kitchen staff as orders are coming out in turtle speed. They are still on soft opening phase so I expect this and hopefully their food making skills will stabilize in near future.
Overall, Grillies was classic late night snack place you want to visit when you are trash drunk. My first visit was not the best but as I said before, they are still in adjusting phase so I hope things will get sort out soon. Current promo and with expectation of improvement in service, it might be worth visiting after night out. read more
