Happened upon this restaurant one evening. I saw a shawarma place on the north side of the street,…read moreso I prepared to turn off and go back, but here was another shawarma place. Quickly looked at Yelp and saw a fantastic number of reviews. So this place looked to be the real thing. I stepped up to the counter and ordered the beef shawarma platter to eat in. The guys just kept piling more and more on the platter. It was absolutely ridiculously huge by the time they were done. It was stacked with beef on top. As I paid, I asked for a take-out container. There was no hesitation. So obviously, this is the way they do it. I sat in the super clean dining area and started in on this massive dish. Then I saw a young family carry their plates to a table adjacent to me. And they all had these massive plates too. So after stuffing myself and hardly putting a dent in this pile of food I had to load up the take out clamshell. It would hardly close and weighed 2-3lbs (after filling myself). So if you want to buy one dish and eat a tasty healthy meal for a week. This is your place. It seemed very clean in the restaurant (signs say leave your dishes on the table - so they are obviously bussing the tables regularly). The washroom was also exceptionally clean. The staff that built my meat mountain were super friendly. I would certainly recommend this place!

Came to Shawarma Palace after shawarma came highly recommended by a friend and generally this meal…read moredid not disappoint! The portion sizes are RIDICULOUS. For us modest appetites, this is easily 3 meals - easily! We ordered 2 plates and a sandwich for 4 people and still had enough leftovers for a small breakfast the morning after. My personal favorite was the mixed shawarma plate. I love how it comes with pita made specifically for Shawarma Palace, rice, potatoes, salad, pickled veg, and the meat. We also got the mixed kabob plate which featured tender beef but the chicken kabob was just a hair bit dry. The falafel sandwich was actually very dry and I would not recommend this. We also picked up some baklava for dessert after and I liked how it was just sweet enough! You can taste the pistachios and I thought the kiss of rose water was just enough to make the bite memorable!

Okay, this place was such a nice surprise! It's a family-owned and operated restaurant, and you…read morecan actually feel that family vibe when you're there. The mom and her son both work there, which I thought was so sweet. The restaurant itself is medium-sized, nothing too fancy, but really nice with a warm, comfortable vibe. Now the FOOD... honestly, AMAZING! My sister and I were super hungry, so naturally we decided to order half the menu thinking we were going to eat everything . They were also very accommodating with my gluten-free needs, which I really appreciated. We ordered the foul, fatta, eggs, grilled cheese, falafel, and a few other things to try, and everything tasted amazing. And let me tell you something about the eggs... I'm really not an egg person. I can easily live without them . But the eggs here?? SO GOOD! I actually enjoyed them, which says a lot coming from me! Great food, nice atmosphere, lovely family running the place, and they made me feel comfortable with my gluten-free needs. Would I go back? Absolutely!

And this place competes hard on quality, service and ambience. It is a darling and super pleasant to visit. The service is exceptional, in the top 20%. Not a bad idea to reserve at a mealtime, but in not busy times I found I got a table immediately. The food is distinctive, healthy and tasty. I don't believe you can find a similar menu elsewhere in Ottawa.

He took my order and got the best fresh falafel sandwiches and fresh fries. I will definitely recommend it and will definitely go again and might get some for the trip going back to Texas.

I had heard of Falafel on Wheels (which is a food truck) but never got around to trying it because…read morethey are usually on Montreal Rd near Blair, which is not an area I'm usually in. So I was thrilled when I heard that they would be providing the food for one of our work functions. They came on site, so the food was freshly made to order. I had the falafel sandwich and a fattouch salad. The falafels in the sandwich were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. So delicious. It also had tomatoes, radishes, pickles, parsley and tahini, all wrapped in a pita. Easily one of the best falafel I've had in Ottawa. My only complaint is that it was a bit on the small side. Ok for small appetites, but likely too small for average to large appetites, and I definitely fall into the latter category, haha. The fattouch salad had romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, parsley, and radishes, all tossed in an oil and vinegar dressing with sumac. I think they usually have pita chips, but mine didn't have any :( It was a little overdressed for my liking, but I like very little dressing on my salad. Service was relatively quick and was friendly. Not sure when I'll be in their usual neighbourhood next, but when I am, I'll need to grab another falafel sandwich ;)
