The staff was super friendly and on top of everything. I came in determined to try the clam fritters after seeing a photo--and wow, totally worth it. They're a special, not on the regular menu, so grab them if you can. A friend and I split the Captain's Salad and the Fisherman's Platter and still had leftovers. Big portions, fresh food, great vibe. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

They were ok and edible but barely any clam was in one ball. If I ever came back here from NY the cold calamari Campari would be something more my style. This place was happening and very lively and loud. My Arnold Palmer tasted delicious and my husband enjoyed his Bourbon on the Bay. I also ordered a to go order for my teen of Salmon, roast potatoes and veggies and let me tell you that was delicious!!! I guess they don't do a lot of take out at this establishment though because our waitress could not give me any forks for our to go order but managed a spoon. Nice and clean ambiance inside. I liked that our waitress offered if we would like to have dessert. Very cheery place.

Even though the name (Kawa) and menu have changed a bit over time, the heart of this place has never changed--and that's what keeps us coming back. One thing that truly stands out is that this is a family‑owned restaurant, and you can feel the care, pride, and love they put into their food and service. It adds a level of warmth and authenticity that you just don't get everywhere. Our group ordered a wide range of dishes, and not a single plate was left with food on it. Several guests tried the special fried rice, while one had the chicken fried rice. Everyone loved their meals so much that I even ordered an extra fried rice to take home. We also enjoyed a great selection of sushi, including a few rolls we had never tried before. Their sushi roll prices are the best in the area, yet the quality remains consistently excellent. The sashimi we ordered was fresh, beautifully presented, and did not disappoint. One guest ordered the noodles with shrimp and said it was the best they'd ever had. To top it off, the restaurant has a surprisingly wide variety of Asian beers at very reasonable prices. The beers we tried were a big hit with the group and paired perfectly with the food. The service was another highlight of the night. Our waiter was wonderful--attentive, friendly, patient, and on top of everything our large party needed. Managing a group of 14 isn't easy, but he handled it flawlessly and made us feel well cared for. My fiancé asked him a lot of questions on some of dishes and he was very knowledgeable. After more than a decade of visiting, this birthday dinner reminded me exactly why this place has remained one of our family favorites. Delicious food, great prices, warm service, and the heart of a family‑owned business that truly values what they do. Highly recommend for both special occasions and everyday meals. There is plenty of parking for a big party and lots of space inside. They were packed and it was 5 days before Christmas.

The goat curry was also quite good and had a nice amount of heat. It dipped really well with the roti! Overall a fantastic experience here, staff was super nice and the food was also amazing! I still love eating out, but it's fairly rare that I'm actually surprised by a dish that I ordered. The honey inflected cauliflower dish with just a hint of garlic was the marked improvement on Gobi Manchurian that I didn't know I needed in my life. It's Gobi Honey Garlic on the menu. Order it. I know I plan to once more before I leave Connecticut. This dish is great because it carries a number of flavors I would expect to contrast and somehow marries them perfectly. I've been eating cauliflower dishes for years with fried Lebanese cauliflower and an absolutely decadent version in a random Mexico City restaurant being my favorites. This one lands directly squarely between those preparations as my second favorite all time (Tetetlan is still the overall winner). I only ordered the blackened pork curry as a main dish and it was tasty in its own right. On another visit, I'd like to savor even more dishes and possibly try their crab curry. Everything coming out of that kitchen was absolute fire. So far, this has been my favorite dining experience in the entire state of Connecticut. Sure, it's not as fancy as Olea, or maybe as iconic as a lobster roll at Captain Scott's, but it's definitely the best rendition of Sri Lankan cuisine I have found in the States. I'm so glad I went here.

The Chicken Ornella, the Chicken Piccata, the Bolognese and my wild Salmon were all very well made. Fresh tasting, homemade pastas and well prepared. For dessert we all shared a delicious Bread Pudding....YUMM.... This is a great place for a meal in New London, check it out. Free parking in the back of the restaurant. The waiter did not do a good job of coming to our table to check in on us, drink orders, and refilling our waters. This time I tired some of the lamb chop which was cooked well and tasted amazing for an appetizer. For the main entree this time, I had a special which was a halibut with a linguini pasta. The fish was cooked pretty good and so was the pasta (al dente) however the sauce that it was served in was quite bland. Definitely a letdown with the sauce which made me not finish the pasta. If they nailed the sauce with something savory and complimentary to the fish, this would've kept the high praise review. Overall, this experience was unfortunately a letdown with the food and staff/service, probably a bit of an unfortunate choice in meal and poor waiter for my table. They have an extensive menu and everything we've ever had was absolutely delicious. We've had pizza, fried clams, salads, and many different sandwiches and grinders. Yesterday we had a small sausage/pepperoni pizza and a Chef's Salad. FYI: the salad is large enough for 3 or 4 people, if you care to share. The ambiance is casual. The restaurant is very clean. There is road parking out front and a smallish private parking lot along the side and in the back. There is a back door entrance if you park in back. There are many good things to say about Ocean Pizza in New London. We highly recommend them. Actually, I can't believe we haven't left a review before. They certainly deserve the 5 stars we're giving them.

There's something special about a place where you can sense the care, history, and pride behind the counter, and this is exactly that kind of spot. The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is genuinely personal, and you can tell the staff takes joy in what they do. I ordered a classic pepperoni pizza, and it arrived hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The crust had that perfect, old-school texture you only get from a place that's been doing it right for years. The pepperoni had just the right amount of crisp, and the cheese was melted beautifully--simple, traditional, and incredibly satisfying. We also tried the onion rings, and I have to stop and highlight them: Who is still making onion rings fresh these days? These folks are--and you can taste the difference. Golden, crisp, and not the least bit greasy. It's the kind of side that reminds you why homemade is always worth it. I was dining with friends who ordered the chicken salad and the fish and chips. Both dishes were generously portioned and prepared with the same level of care. The fish and chips in particular drew a lot of praise at our table. If you're anywhere near New London, don't miss this gem. Ocean Pizza is the kind of place that reminds you why family-run restaurants are so treasured--great food, warm people, and a sense of tradition that keeps you wanting to come back. Highly recommended.
