It has recently undergone renovations but still in traditional theming. I've been many times and the Pho is amazing, very authentic. This time, however, I was with a colleague and her young son so we had child friendly food - fresh friend spring rolls, chicken with cashew nuts and mushrooms (the owner was kind to add vegetables for me for no extra cost), and crispy chicken, moist chicken with a crispy skin, side of oyster sauce and rice. All very tasty, very fresh and quickly served. Probably one of the best restaurants in Waverley. Not too expensive either.

It's small so definitely need to book for dinner, but usually fine to call a couple of hours in advance. Service is warm and attentive without being overwhelming. The decor is like walking into their family room, pictures on ledges, a lucky cat, magazine rack.. But don't be fooled - the food is fantastic. My top recommendations are definitely the pho (beef noodle soup with fresh herbs), whole deep fried fish with fish sauce, lemongrass, lemon and chili sauce, the fresh pork & prawn rolls and the chicken salad. But that's because we use it as our 'guilt-free' healthy dinner option (maybe except for the whole, fried fish, though it's surprisingly non-greasy). But the caramelised fish and the hot pots are lovely as well. BYO and take away are an added bonus. Try it and it'll become a staple!

Beginning…read morein Coogee, they've branched out and although no longer in Coogee, they've got 11 venues across Sydney and open 7 days a week. We visited our closest store, the Woollahra venue. It is both a dine in and takeaway venue and they are always super busy. This is testament to just how good the food is. At first it might look like your typical charcoal chicken shop, but it is much more than that with amazing salads, veggies, burgers and desserts and it will have you salivating for more. From the charcoal grill, their chickens do not have hormone injections and they are beautifully chargrilled, and seasoned with herbs and spices or marinated with Portuguese flavours. Of course it wouldn't be the perfect meal without fries. You can get their nicely seasoned French fries chips or their famous hand cut potato wedges or sweet potato wedges. We tried them all and can't choose our favourite They use the freshest of ingredients and seasonal produce to make their famous salads, made in house everyday. They will suit a range of crowds and we tried the poke salad, Buddha salad and roasted cauliflower. The Golden quinoa salad was also an absolute winner. There's a hot menu with a lot of choice - from baked salmon, chicken drumsticks, meatballs and curry to casseroles and Lentils. We had the amazing lamb shanks and mixed roasted vegetables and they were a great accompaniment. As we were here for a huge spread, we both got a burger, the chicken and also a cheeseburger. Free range chicken and grass fed beef, fresh butter lettuce, sliced tomato, onion, secret sauce on a milk bun - these were delicious - and huge! We tried the piri piri sauce and lemon and herb dressing which we also enjoyed. They have sweets and desserts too, and although we didn't try, because we were full; the home made apple pie looks like a winner. Chargrill Charlie's does catering as well if you're keen to order a bunch of food for your office meeting, picnics or even private functions. When you arrive it may appear slightly overwhelming with so many people trying to get the Chargrill Charlie's fix. But don't fret, the service is easy. Take a number and wait your turn, service is extremely fast. They also have an app where you can earn store credit and even purchase Chargrill Charlie's hoodies, hats and bags to feel like a part of the team.

Hugh Jackman! Russell Crowe!) which, who knows, maybe gives it a bit of food industry-cred. But nevermind the celebrities (really, don't mind them) because the food is what everyone is there for (ostensibly, because, again, who knows?). It's cheap, quick grab-and-go food. You can get a quarter or half chicken and be on your way or put a bun between the chicken with lettuce and tomatoes to make a chicken burger or you can put it in a long roll or you can get the Indonesian rice with chicken schnitzel or get a half chicken or a whole chicken with wanton salad or avocado salad or pesto pasta or roasted potatoes. Whatever you want. Take note, though, there are only a total of about 4 seats here so make other arrangements for seating if you can. And take a number if it's busy. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Its pint sized interior is deceiving though, for there is nothing but big heart and ample options for a delicious feed on the hoof. Surely, there can be fewer nobler challenges than trying each and every signature Sabbaba pita roll over a period of time. Such is the allure for a falafel lover of the sight of 20 odd different types of falafels, each inspired by a place. The Tunisian is an absolute winner especially if you're a fan of chilli, sweet potato and babaganoush. Sabbaba Bondi Junction is welcoming, warm and maintains that slightly hip feel of its bigger Bondi Beach sibling. There is always a funky tune on the go and some friendly faces to help you out. It's the kind of place where you could easily lose a few hours reading a newspaper or playing a game of backgammon - if you manage to grab one of the few available seats. If it's just some great, good value takeaway food you're interested in, you'll have one of the best falafels in town in your hand in no time at all. Oh, and the coffee is great too.

Although there's limited seating in the shop, by far the nicest thing is to grab your drink/salad as a take away and walk down to the beach. I particularly love their Greek salad - verdant fresh leaves, tossed with salty cubes of feta, slithers of red onion, large chunks of tomato and cucumber and jet black kalamata olives. A medium pot costs $5, leaving enough change for a regular freshly squeezed fruit juice, or a small pot of yoghurt. I've had both (this has become a favourite of mine) and can firmly recommend the strawberry yoghurt and bircher muesli combo. If this all seems too healthy, they offer a range of generously stuffed sandwiches, smoothies and milkshakes. The thickshakes seem particularly appealing, as does the honeybee smoothie - banana and mango blended with milk, ice cream, honey cinnamon and ice. Service is quick and efficient - I suppose they have to be considering their popularity - and I would class this a must-visit juice bar if you're down Coogee way.

For lunch you can pop in for a burger or some fish and chips, for late-night binges there are kebabs and for anything in between there is everything else. The prices are bloody fantastic, you'll hardly find such a bargain elsewhere in Bondi. They are a bit no-frills but you can't taste it in the food. They are best for take-out, not much of a vibe in the store to eat but apart from that they haven't put a foot wrong.
