Dispatcher Kayla did a great job keeping us informed about the arrival of Alex, the tow operator. Based on our situation, he did the best he could to help us out. Due to the distance from our home to their shop, we decided to transport the car to Pleasant Street Auto for repair. On Monday I spoke with Steven to discuss the situation, and he was very thorough and analytical as he listened to my story leading up to the car breakdown. The shop was able to repair the car Monday afternoon and I picked it up Tuesday morning. Considering we were in a bind and at their mercy, I feel that we were treated very fairly and not taken advantage of. Walking into the office to pay the bill, I could tell that they take an interest in the concerns of their customers - even offering a box of Girl Scout cookies as a "thank you"! There was no sign on the door or at the counter about closing early or stopping inspections. I waited about 15 minutes before being told by the inspector that he wasn't doing any more inspections for the day because he was tired after being there since 8 a.m. He said he told the customer before me that he would be his last inspection -- but another customer wouldn't be responsible for telling me that, and he did not. If there's a cutoff time for inspections, it really needs to be clearly posted so people don't waste their time showing up well before closing and being turned away. Very poor customer service. I do wonder whether the owner or manager is aware of this decision to stop inspections early and the impact it has on customers.

I came in with a bad tire and rim, asked for an overall check to ensure safety and they found bad tie rod ends. Warranty company was very challenging to get ahold of but Dave worked so hard, was flexible and was very patient throughout. After all of the warranty process, when they could start ordering parts (after 5pm) for my car they had it all done by 11am the next morning. The tire took the longest to come in because they wanted to ensure it was the same as the others so it wouldn't cause any problems with the alignment (I respect rather than pushing Me to get all 4 new tires like others would do). They were able to repair the dent in my rim rather than buying a new one as well. When I first moved to Springfield, Harry and crew at Springfield Tire came highly recommended to me…read moreby my fiance. He had taken his truck here many a-time for oil changes, and even mechanic-type work. After my car broke down within a few weeks of arriving (I guess cross-country driving can do that to a 10 year old car), I decided Springfield Tire was the best bet. They weren't cheap, but I felt confident that they'd do the best job. They fixed my car, and about $600 later, I was back on the road. They had warned me that the starter was about to go out on my car, but thought I had a few months to save up some cash before repairing. The very next day, the starter died and I was left stranded at a gas station in Chicopee. I called up Harry, asked him if they could get a tow-truck to bring me down to the shop. Not only did a tow truck come, but I never even was asked to pay the driver (I guess Springfield Tire graciously took care of it, since my car was just in the shop a day before). That right there is world-class service, folks. I continued to get my oil changed there dutifully every 3 months ($29.50). When I needed my Massachusetts emissions testing and inspection, of course I went to Springfield Tire. But wouldn't you believe, I needed almost $1000 in repairs to make my car "safe" to drive in MA per the inspection, most of it replacing parts of the front end, getting an alignment, etc. They quoted me about $950 or so, and I called around to verify this was a "fair price". Although Springfield Tire and Auto was not the cheapest, they were right on target in terms of price (unfortunately). I dropped my car off in the morning, and by the late afternoon, everything was fixed. Just last week, I took my car in for it's regular oil change and it took only about 20 minutes! When I went to leave, my car wouldn't start. Even though it was very near closing time, Steve and one of his mechanics stayed to replace the starter that they had replaced in October. They did so FOR FREE because it was still under warranty. I'm so grateful to have a mechanic shop that I can trust with costly and important repairs, who I can count on in an emergency, and who doesn't unfairly gouge their prices or sell you things you don't need. I won't go anywhere else!
