I'll never come here again 'cause it's in a crappy industrial area where I felt unsafe. Their lobby and restrooms were closed and locked at 8pm. Even though I wasn't a passenger (I was picking up relatives), do you think I might want to use your restroom after driving over an hour? And the parking lot (if you want to call it that) has room for maybe 6 cars at best - so those of us who were waiting for the bus to arrive had to park "stacked" next to each other. I'll pay for my relatives to fly in and out of SEA-TAC before I go back to this crappy and dangerous environment to pick anyone up. read more

The Seattle Greyhound station is new but it's in a horrible location and it's way to small for the amount of people that use it. Greyhound need to work with the City of Seattle and move their station into King Street Station ((with Amtrak) or move into Union Station. Spokane and Pasco have shared stations with trains and busses and Seattle needs to follow their example read more

I would not travel on Greyhound unless you are truly desperate. I am on my honeymoon and was trying to get from Whidbey Island, WA, to Vancouver, BC, by way of the Everett, WA, bus station. We were an hour early for our 6:35 p.m. bus. We waited and waited, then began calling -- the web site eventually showed a 7:18 p.m. arrival in Everett, but no sign of the bus. At about 7:30 multiple customer service reps said the bus was still at this Seattle location an hour away. At 8:15 p.m., with it getting dark (the Everett bus station is in the middle of nowhere), and needing to catch a flight the next morning, we decided the best/only option was taking an Uber up to Vancouver -- it cost $200. The web site showed the bus eventually left Seattle at 9:03 p.m., 3 1/2 hours after it was supposed to leave. (As of the next day, it still showed a 7:18 p.m. arrival in Everett and I have no idea if it ever came.) The best customer service could do for the $200 I am out plus the hours we spent waiting and on the phone with customer service was the bare minimum of refunding the cost of the original tickets that we didn't use. I am surprised/disappointed a company that's been around 100 years couldn't do better than this, in all areas. read more

After my Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train recently got cancelled last minute due to mud slides, I ended up at this Seattle Greyhound station to get the rest of the way to Portland. After previously Greyhounding from Chicago to Montana in one 30-hour marathon in my earlier student days, I will say this about them--they have a far better on-time rate than the train. The newer fleet of buses is also not completely uncomfortable (although I've never worked up the courage to use the on-board restroom). And of course they are generally cheap as chips. However I feel that Greyhound sabotages the relatively reliable on-road service that they provide with poorly maintained and understaffed bus stations. I walked at midday with my rolling luggage from the train station to this particular station. It is south of town, and you have to cross several major roads to get there from the train station direction, so do not walk unless you're in daylight and the weather is decent. I definitely would be on my guard as a solo female traveler waiting for a bus here at night. The station is about 1/10th the size of Portland's, and there are very limited chairs. Non-passengers come in off the street to use the restrooms, so there's a constant flow of people in various states urgency and disrepair. The attendant doesn't appear behind the desk until 30 minutes before departure, so there's no one to answer your questions or print out tickets any earlier. They do have multiple vending machines should you get desperate for food or drink before your trip. It seems like a vicious cycle--the more Greyhound allows the station to get junked up, the less people care about maintaining it. Passengers obviously aren't expecting luxury, but a little cleanliness and a kind word from the desk staff would go a long way. read more

I once got on a bus in Montana, that had been on the road since New York city... and the coolest thing had happened.... A total break down of society. If you ever think that you can avoid being eaten alive by people after the Apocalypse because you're smart, or pretty, I just want you to know that it won't take one. All you need to do is put someone on a bus for six days. Shiver. read more

Had I known how cheap gas would get, I wouldn't have taken the bus back to Spokane. When I was looking into how to get back, the round trip Seattle-Spokane ticket came to an incredibly affordable (i.e. cheap) $79. Beat that! Not gonna happen. I'm going to confess: I don't HATE Greyhound. I just usually very strongly dislike them. The Greyhound station is one of the most hellacious locations in Seattle. People there seem to wear an irremovable scowl. Not just people waiting for the bus, but people who work there also. This was a different atmosphere Wednesday night. Everybody was just eager to get on the bus so they could get home to their family and friends (yours truly included). It only took about five minutes to get my tickets through will-call. Then something amazing happened. Two buses arrived instead of the one everyone expected. One heading to Sunnyside, Pasco, Yakima, Ellensburg, and Wenatchee. The other one had two stops: Ellensburg and Spokane. So the trip that was supposed to take 7.5 hours ended up taking a little over four hours. And we left the station 15 minutes early. Huzzah! All in all, this was a solid three-star experience. If you travel on some random day not before a major holiday, you will likely experience some, um, interesting company. The last time I traveled Greyhound, I sat next to a guy who had just gotten out of prison after eight years and a guy who had just gotten out of rehab (See? What did I tell you? INTERESTING). Thanks for the trip, Greyhound. You didn't suck this time. Props for that! read more

I rode greyhound when I was a teenager because I didn't know any better. I was dating a guy in Vancouver and I had no car. It was affordable. Even back then, though, I hated it. I never had a single trip that didn't involve something sketchy. On every trip, without fail, some sleazy, fugly man started hitting on me. Sometimes they'd sit down next to me on the bus and harass me until I got up and switched seats... or worse, there'd be no seats, so I'd try to bury myself in my headphones as best I could. Every trip had a certifiable crazyperson. It was like a journey through the halls of a mental institution. People talking to themselves, giving themselves mock baths, slapping themselves a little bit, sticking their hands down their pants, smelling as though they'd last seen a shower 5 years ago... you name it, it was on greyhound. Shortly thereafter I discovered that the train only cost a few dollars more than the bus, had no sketchy people, had food and power outlets and pretty views along the water. Then craigslist rideshare was created and that made getting from city to city considerably cheaper than the bus or the train. I never took greyhound again. read more

Long, long ago in a land known as Middle Earth there was a small, hirsute creature who lived for revelry, song, and tobacco. He was a curious creature, and some thought it most seemly to call him a hobbit. Somehow, this charming hole-dweller found himself caught in some nefarious spell that tore him from his idyllic home and left him lost and alone in modern day Seattle. Oh no, poor hobbit! His surroundings were all foreign and anathema to him, and he grew bitter with each new and painful experience. He trudged through the streets, subsisting on rats and whatever carrion he could find until he came upon a great and wondrous place- The Greyhound Station. Drawn in by mingling smells of urine and hobos he sought nothing more than to break bread and to have some small measure of water. The benevolent lords at Greyhound did him one better! They offered him employment! Now he can be seen inflicting the misery of his displacement by waggling his jowls and flinging his terrible ponytail here and there in the exercise of his great and terrible power- the power of inconveniencing customers in the most minor of ways. Oh how complete his life had become! How sweet it is to make the poor folk of Strider wait to be called! Seriously, though....the socially awkward fat boy who works at this station is repugnant and awful, and he ruins everything. I wish him all the worst, and my experience here was, while not unexpected, far from pleasant. read more

Several years ago I took the Greyhound bus to Santa Barbara and back. It was an excruciatingly long and boring journey. The only upside on the way there was when we stopped in a downtown of some big California city (can't recall which one) around the time bars were closing down. My boyfriend and I had a pretty interesting time wandering around and doing a little bit of "party people walking home from the club" people watching. The biggest downside was when we were in Los Angeles because the stop was in the industrial district (with no cool spots we could find to get food) AND the bus filled up so we got delayed 6 hours. In that time we tasted horrible fountain water, discovered an across-the-street taco stand that had flies all over the "ground beef taco" display of their food, and saw a woman get arrested at a gas station mini-mart for... probably trying to sell herself. What a wonderful journey? The way back was less eventful, but more of a bummer because we stopped by In-N-Out or Carl's JR twice (I hadn't gotten a chance to try them yet), but I had gotten my tongue pierced and could only really get a milk shake from those spots. Bummer! That, and- well- Fast food and their bathrooms? Eehhh. Guess it's better than bus bathrooms, though? Oh and customer service people haven't been all that helpful in the past, but.... it's cheaper? I just prefer to fly and not spend so much time (about 30 hours) on the commute. That or take the train because I want the ocean views and the station where I'd be getting off would be next to the beach. The reason Greyhound gets a third star is because of the time I took a late-night Greyhound bus to Vancouver, BC on my 19th birthday! It was speedy, got me downtown, AND I got to sleep most of the way there. I also enjoyed the arrival time because we arrived a couple hours before the day began for the working folks, so we got to see the city wake up. It was pretty great! Oh and the station.... the station's dirty. I'd recommend spending as little time as possible in there. The only thing I like about it is that it's easy enough to get to by bus. read more

I wish I could start and end this review with "Greyhound sucks, that is all", but my shaking anger at such an incompetent company that is somehow still in business will not allow me that short a review. Experience: son comes home via greyhound on round trip ticket. Uses only Spokane to Seattle portion and is driven back. If you provide ticket at station for a fee you can reschedule the remaining portion of your ticket....supposedly. My husband brings in ticket to reschedule and they claim a portion of it is missing so it is therefore invalid. Turns out when boarding in Spokane they ripped both tickets. Electronically they can view this ticket was only half used, they can physically see the boarding pass and they refuse to honor the fee based exchange. The above experience is frustrating, but the 2 hours of follow up with "customer service" was excruciating. There is no customer service because the stations are independent. The supervisors only solution was to tell me he was sorry I was unhappy. Why do they have central customer service? I agree with most Yelpers that the clientele is below average, the stations dingy, the employees barely literate, and the travel times spotty. I hope the government is in no way subsidizing this enterprise. I believe I am going to pony up and fly the boy on Alaska, where we can earn miles, speak with friendly people, travel with people that have been through security, and put my money in a company that realizes the benefits of customer service. I hope the empty seats from Seattle to Spokane eventually resonate with someone intelligent enough to fill them with people who want to return. I am awarding one star because the woman in the Seattle terminal who spoke to my husband actually made a decision (not the one I wanted, but still!) and she scared him a little which is always amusing. read more

Wow. This was the worst experience I've ever had with Greyhound. Not like I've ever had a good experience, but when all the airports and trains are backed up on a snowy day in Seattle, you really don't have much of an option. Communication is absolutely horrible. The phone lines couldn't go through to see if the buses are running, so the only way to find out is to get to the station. I got there around 8am since my trip to Yakima was supposed to be at 9:15am. For one thing, the whole place is really dirty and a little smelly. There were already a lot of people there either waiting in line or just sitting around to find out if their bus will ever come. Some have been stuck for 3 days! Everyone looks pissed and tired. None of the personnel would tell us if the buses are running, and we just had to wait. First hour rolls around, and one of the employees spoke over the intercom saying that more information will be available until another hour. Great... Second hour rolls around, and they finally said that all buses are canceled for another 24 hours. Seriously? I had to wait 2.5 hours just for you to tell me that? No apologies, nothing. Try to avoid this crap hole unless you really really need to get somewhere. Otherwise you're just screwing yourself over. read more

Boarded GBL in Spokane, Wa with an enthusiastic driver John P. Very welcoming presence, engaged us (passengers). Definitely a "Purpose" driven driver. This is a review for this STATION, not the bus or driver on this particular voyage. The bus was fine and the driver was cool. As others have noted, this station smells like stale wizz. The seats are not comfortable (but that's to be expected). It's very dirty and everybody (employees and patrons) are rude and I think they might hate you. The pickup situation is confusing. All in all, a big fat "it stinks!", but it avoids a one star rating because I've actually been to even worse Greyhound stations. read more

FIVE HOUR WAIT HERE! The greyhound bus service has been extremely unreliable and disappointing. From waiting five hours for the bus to Bellingham, to having an incredibly rude driver that threatened not to let me on because I simply didn't have my I.D. ready. I wouldn't plan a trip around the greyhound if you want to arrive on time or in a decent mood. If I could do less than one star I would. read more

THREE?!? I know, I know. You're probably thinking "With an average of 1 and 2 star ratings how can she possibly give this a 3?!" I'm fair. That's why. Now I'll break it down: Cons: 1) The station smells like piss (but shit, it was 99 cents) 2) There is a chubby attendant who attempts to be as unhelpful as possible. An example is him saying "you'll have to ask someone about that" when questioned about parking. Which reminds me.. 3) You know what HUGE garage directly behind greyhound? It's NOT for greyhound customers. There's an open lot across the street with a 30minute maximum. You'll have to find a lot nearby, and it's not as easy as you think. Tip: there's a parking lot less than .8 miles away and if you're willing to pay every 6 hours, including waking at 4am, you can pay $45 for a weekend. It's walking distance. Pros: 1) You don't have I remove your shoes or have your bags checked. That means you can forget about the fear of terrorism and trust thy neighbor. How many Greyhound shootings have you heard of? Take note, TSA. 2) Fair pricing. Don't wanna pay $160 for snow chains you would only use once? Spent $61 round trip instead! 3) if you're in line first, you get on the bus first. Try being proactive, it will be worth it when you don't have to sit next to the man who forgot to/avoids shower(s). Tip: don't turn your bag into a saved seat, because that same pungent man will get his chance to sit next to you when the driver tells you to make space for standbys. 4) The drivers are PATIENT. Our trip was supposed to take 4 hours, but the road was closed due to weather for a while. He informed us of delays and encouraged us go stretch our legs. He drove slowly and carefully. The trip took 7 hours total. He made sure we got there SAFELY. Hopefully that answers your question regarding why Greyhound earned a 3. Use my tips, and plan accordingly because it will make your trip better! read more

More deserving of a black hole designation than a star, don't go greyhound. Just don't. I haven't been grounded in years until I got to Seattle airport. After a five and a half hour flight, a three hour wait to speak to a rep and finding out that not only were there no flights to vancouver but no hotels, no rentals, nada, nada, nada, against my better judgement, I went greyhound. Oh the excitement of sitting in a bus depot with the homeless, the crack heads and the surly bus driver, I had no options. After a three and a half hour drive to the Canadian Border, my bus driver decided to leave all the lights on the bus while we went thru customs and after we all were so excited to be in the presence of a nasty witch, she decided to sit outside and smoke ten ciggs and catch up w/ her truck driving friends whilst we all waited inside the bus at mock 3:45am. To our shock [insert sarcasm], the bus's battery had died. DON'T EVEN THINK YOU'RE GETTING A REFUND was all she could mutter. $25.00 seems inexpensive until you tack on the $150.00 taxi fare to Vancouver leaving me fourty-five minutes to sleep until meeting up with clients. Oh the joy. read more

OMG I DON'T EVA! Want to see another bad review about Portland Greyhound Bus Station after being through this thing! The Greyhound workers there were nice, so my review is not a knock at them, but I've been through too many small town bus stations, for the most part decent facilities, to see a place looking as old and nasty as this one, even more so, in a major city like Seattle. Feels like its one big bathroom that happens to have chairs, vending machine and ropes to suggest bus lanes. Couldn't wait to get on the bus fast enough seeing all the bird dropping, (looking up wondering when the next hailstorm would drop). Agreed with many other reviews, feel like you need a shower after sitting in here. read more

It felt like I walked onto the set of a horror movie entitled "THE GREYHOUND: DESTINATION NOWHERE" It's been two weeks since I've been here and I still feel like the grime of this place has stuck with me. I don't think the floor, walls, chairs, ANYTHING has ever encountered a broom, mop, brush or hard-core bleach. On top of the dirtiness, the place is just dismal, dank and awfully foreboding. I expected the lights to start flickering at any moment. The place was packed full of people on a Friday but of course only one agent was at the counter. The line stretched out the door for my bus and we ended up leaving 15-20 minutes later than scheduled. Thankfully we were on time at the end. As a FYI, if you're heading into Canada, the border patrol stops all the Greyhound buses in Bellingham to check everyone's government IDs - very very exciting I assure you. And Bellingham, thank you for having a brightly lit, cheerful station at the end. Probably because you also serve Amtrak but a nice coffee shop and clean bathrooms do wonders! read more

I've never had much more than "this station fulfills it's function adequately" to say about Greyhound depots, but their new location sadly fails to meet this already low bar. If you are trying to drop off your friends or family, be prepared for the most mind-bogglingly shaped drop-off area, like a very stubby 'F'. Naturally this makes it implausible for more than three, maybe four cars to be in there at one time. There is only ONE non-handicapped parking spot. If you are a passenger with your bags and arrive early, wouldn't it be nice if you could sit while you wait? Too bad. They've done away with even the mildly uncomfortable benches of yesteryear and even the space for say, a bus load of people to stand with the normal amount of space we Seattlites appreciate. The busses themselves are alright, they aren't as nice as the new Bolt fleet is, but the whole affair is more affordable than other options (and usually the last option to fill up, for all you last-minute planners) due to it's lack of bells and whistles and wifi. read more

If I could rank lower than 1 star I would. Over 4 hours late, the bus is here but we are still waiting to get on. Gonna get home much later than I expected and it's so late the city bus system will have closed and that's my only mode of transport as a college student. Update: apparently a mirror on the bus broke and another bus is coming, but who knows when that's happening. read more

My bus from Seattle to Bellingham got delayed and I'm currently still sitting at the station at 9:45 pm for a 5pm bus. Greyhound Bus - Buses Near Me - Seattle, Washington

This bus depot was difficult to find on the way home from Seattle, I asked and asked and nobody seemed to know the right way to get there, though everyone knew where it was. When I arrived twenty minutes early the staff were already ushering people to the line, only to have the bus actually leave the depot ten minutes late. But not only was the line completely unnecessary (the seats were not even full), but they werent stopping at the border duty free store! The ride this time was a lot quicker than my first trip in the early morning, but we still arrived at least 20 or 30 minutes late from our 4 hour trip both ways, which should be a real problem since driving takes only 3 hours tops! Also, the ticket counter person was very uninformed about anything regarding crossing the border or schedules or greyhound policy. He really only seemed to know what was on the stub and had no further interest in his business, which made it really frustrating since he was the only person to ask! Later on the driver could answer many more of our questions for him, but we should not have had to worry until we got on the bus! The depot itself looks pretty dingy, and the washroom is eternally out of order (it was out of order last year as well, for the same reason, which is that the door is off the hinge). They have a few old arcade games (20 year old light gun games) to keep you busy and thankfully theres a convienance store around the corner. For the service and location, this was not worth the relatively cheap value of $40. read more

No, I wasn't paid by Greyhound to put four stars for this station but I assure you many 'bad' things that are mentioned here are quite rare and depends on where you are heading. Recently went on a bus ride to Vancouver on a Tuesday afternoon. The walk to the station is quite safe, and very close(3 blocks) to bustling Westlake Mall(where the monorail to Seattle Space Needle is) Yes - it is weird such a dingy Greyhound station is nested around modern high rises and 2 starbucks. However, at 2pm there was no bums, but just tons of civilized travellers (many Europeans in fact) waiting for bus to go to Vancouver. Ok, the station inside itself is not pleasant, but you don't need to sit in there! Across the street is a federal building with a nice little park with clean benches and trees. Moreover, based on these people's reviews I expected this station interior to be much worse but you guys haven't seen some of new york city's post offices yet. However, in the end - I still wouldn't want to be here at night time. (Where the cheapest tickets are available. only $30 round trip for 10pm trip to Vancouver) Yes, there's a stench inside the station too(i wished i took a picture), and there's usually just one ticket agent. He was quite a nice guy, and though the station's drivers and security are kinda goofy looking - they were overall good people. And of course, with two starbucks down the block, there's really no need to use the bathroom here. On the way there, we were provided with an express bus(stopping only at Bellingham and suburb of Vancouver-Coqualtin? I assure you the Border patrol check at Bellingham is quite random but expect to spend half an hour - 45 minutes at the border (it all depends if your fellow riders have "complications") However, I do believe the bad seeds take the bus down to Portland and basically other US destinations. So I highly recommend Greyhound bus as the method of going from Seattle to Vancouver if you are not driving yourself. (Not to mention you get to skip busy car lines during peak hours which is still faster even though the bus has more ppl for customs) It is ultra cheap if booked early - I paid $40 round trip. The buses were clean enough(trust me, I've taken the chinese buses in NY - they are much worse) However, if your bus stinks it's generally from urine smell, while the chinese buses smell like wonton and feet. read more

The station is old, decrepit, and stinky. Way overdue for a renovation. Seating is limited (homeless individuals seem to like to camp out in the seating area). There is a random Pho restaurant entrance inside the station. Also random arcade machines inside. There were security guards both times I went to the station so I didn't feel too unsafe. The first bus ride I took from Seattle to Portland (Friday afternoon) was pretty much empty. I had as much space as I wanted. The second bus ride from Seattle to Portland (Thursday night) was packed. Someone was smoking pot but the bus. I would recommend sitting close to the front of the bus. At least it was only $16 one-way. read more

NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW ANGRY I AM RIGHT NOW. We have reservations for a reason. I made my reservation a month advance for my Seattle-Vancouver trip. I guess you get what you pay for, since we got our tickets for $23 each, but this is just not right. Our departure time was 2:45. The boarding time was at 2:30. They told us we had to be there an hour earlier than our boarding time for baggage check in. WE GOT THERE AT 1pm When we arrived, they told us that our bus was canceled due to a driver who chose not to make up a shift. SO, INSTEAD OF BOARDING AT 2:30pm, WE WERE GOING TO BOARD AT 9PM. 9 PM?!?! That's more than 6 hours in this crappy chair without food or drink (water is $2.25), waiting for a bus that might OR NOT come. Ps. Only good thing about this place is that they have outlets and bathrooms. ---------------------------------------------- Because there were more than 30 of us going to Vancouver they switched a bus going to Bellingham into a Vancouver bus. We are leaving soon, but that was still a very stressful experience. read more

Recently took the bus from Seattle to Vancouver and back. The bus was clean. And the drivers, both ways, were very polite and helpful. It would've been nice if the bus had electrical ports or wifi (or both) like many newer lines like Boltbus and Megabus do. And the bathroom is essentially a portapotty. But it was $30 roundtrip. I'm not going to bitch and moan when I'm only paying $30 BOTH WAYS! You can take the train, or drive yourself. But it's a 4 hour ride that someone else deals with the hassles of getting you there. Quick tip: Getting in to Canada is always easier than getting back into the United States. Be prepared for the trip back to take longer than the trip up. read more

SO sketch! And I love sketchiness, and creepiness. I actually seek it out. It gives me a thrill. But sitting at this station is oftentimes too much, even for a Sketchylover like me. I sometimes take the bus from Seattle to Bellingham when I can't get a ride from a friend. There's a perpetual crowd of ragamuffins outside and in. It's rare that I don't get accosted in one way or the other while I am sitting waiting for my bus, minding my own business. But despite this, my bus usually leaves on time. One time I was offered beers by my seatmate and I almost took him up on the offer, another time I made friends with a Mexican tourist. So, added star for some good times and camaraderie. Oh, and you can walk right in to this Pho place which is attached to the station if you want, if you have a pho craving. ZERO STARS AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Absolutely the worst travel experience. This company should be ashamed of themselves. Had a 1:25am bus reservation along with several other people. Bus never showed, We were kicked out of the building, told nothing that helped, and the 2 pathetic employees did not care at all and one literally RAN away from people stranded asking questions. They offered nothing and left us in the cold in a very sketchy area.. at 2am with nothing around. Called customer service several times and got 8 different stories. They knew nothing. Couldn't even contact their own bus. One person suggested on the phone that I should've been early. Like WTF idiot we were all there an hour plus before scheduled departure. We eventually got an empty bus sent to us at 5am with no explanation and the driver got there with abrupt rudeness and no apologies, basically like we were the inconvenience.
