We usually take Bolt bus but we bought tickets too late and had to be happy with Greyhound. We biked there and upon arrival we were greeted by rude attendants and told that we have to pay 50$ a bike (100$ total). This has never been a problem with Bolt bus, we always just show up and they put our bikes under the bus for free (as it should be). After much stress, we had to hire Uber with a friend out To the station and pick up our bikes which ran us at 45$ (more than our ticket back) and a huge favor we had to ask of a friend. Once actually on the bus, we saw that there was more seats next to each other for my girlfriend and I to sit with each other. She asked out loud if it's okay for anyone to switch so we can sit together and we were completely ignored by a full bus. The driver finally got on and gave us his threatening speech about not ruining the bus and always listening t the bus driver or something bad will happen. Overall a horrible experience. We will never be using Greyhound again. read more

Couldn't convince girlfriend to take another travel option. Another bus cancelled, and we have a two hour wait. Batting 1 for 5 there, Greyhound. The only upside is the security guard has a great sense of humor. read more

This has to be the worst company that rips you off and gives nothing in return. $200.00 round trip from Seattle to Oregon and Oregon to Seattle. I would not mind paying that except the horrible "Grayhound" service. First of all I get to the Grayhound in the AM to catch my bus- waiting in line for one hour only to check in. They six employees - one person waiting on the customers to check in. I am second in line- still waiting- finally get checked in- the guy tells me to out my luggage on the scale- tells me to tag my bags- so I'm a nut-shell he just had to play on his computer while smacking his gum. So unprofessional. I am so scared to get on this bus as the experience has been so bad thus far- stay tuned ;-) read more

I had a terrible experrience with Greyhound. First, I accidentally bought the a ticket for the wrong time on their website and when I called them immediately afterward, they still charged me to get the ticket I wanted. Next, when I showed up 45min early to my bus, I overheard the people next to me talking about how the 1:00 bus (the one I was going on) was cancelled. I never recieved an email or any sort of notification and would not have known if it weren't for them. When I asked the attendent, she just confirmed it was cancelled and told me I could simply ride the 4:30 bus. I was just going to Portland so I was not trying to wait around all day. She then told me she could refund my ticket so I said that would be fine. She said she did and then I left the station and had to find other means of transportation to Portland (ended up taking the Bolt Bus). When I checked my bank account a few days later, it said they actually only refunded me $2.50. After a very frustrating 21 minute long phone call with customer service, they finally were able to refund me the full amount. Fingers crossed they did it right this time, it has not yet shown up on my credit card statement. Overall, my greyhound experience was absolutely terrible and a huge pain in the butt and I didn't even end up riding their bus. -Very angry college student just trying to get from Seattle to Portland read more

Once again I found myself in need of a ride home to Bellingham. And 2 for 2. The bus is over 2 hours late. Worst company ever.

Took shuttle from Port Townsend to SeaTac, No A/C, swelter, stuffy, exhaust smell, never again!

Even one star is pushing it. I haven't been to this bus station in a couple years but by the tone of the recent reviews it's the same ol' crap hole. I have to pick my Mom up there next week and I can't believe my Dad didn't buy her a one way flight! At least she doesn't have to ride back since we are driving back to Eastern WA for the 4th of July. I am not looking forward to being there even for 10 minutes. As another yelper said, it is like one big nasty public bathroom with ropes and chairs, and I might add, that hasn't been cleaned i 20 years. I agree with another yelper that said it really needs to be demolished and rebuilt. read more

Tried for three days to schedule a trip to Portland from Seattle. Every time I got to the credit card part the process failed with a "website experiencing problems" type message. When I tried the suggested phone number, a couple of clicks into it I was told to hang up and call a different number, which also failed. With Bolt Bus and Amtrak operating between these cities, I don't need to try this option ever again. I hated my experience with Greyhound. read more

I understand that sometimes things happen that are out of the control of the staff here. I get that sometimes drivers may call in sick, that life happens and so a bus may get cancelled. What I don't understand is that this bus cancellation happens, not once, but 5 times; just since I've been taking greyhound at least. Greyhound is convenient in its price and availability, and I have used its services many a time to visit my brother up in Canada, and my boyfriend. It has been helpful being able to pay a small handful of cash to get to and from your desired destination, all the while enjoying the scenery outside the window beside you. But this bus cancellation trend is beginning to get out of hand. Having to shift my personal schedule and plans, multiple times mind you, because my bus that I paid to be on time, got cancelled is not at the top of my list of favorite things to do. Again, I get that these sort of things happen, but they shouldn't this frequently. On the upside, their security guard lightens the tense atmosphere with his humor. So, in short, if you're looking for reasonable-priced transportation, Greyhound is your guy. But, be aware that you may be enjoying your stay a little longer than planned. If I were you, I'd just plan ahead and do Amtrak. read more

Bus is delayed almost an hour. Limited seats available in waiting area. Amtrak may have been a better option

Worst experience EVER getting here. Old location was in a fairly seedy area of downtown, but I'd gladly brave getting hassled by the drunks, bums, beggars, assorted unsavory looking people sitting all up and down the sidewalk on Stewart than EVER come to this "new" location again. It's waaay the heck away from ANYTHING. Cannot get here by bus without transferring and spending Metro's estimated 27 minutes to go 6 blocks. So I walked it. 6 blocks is nothing, right? Hah. There is no through street to get here from 5th &jackson. NO ONE will help you. Got bad directions 3 times. Google map useless. People kept giving me the same directions which were WROONG. Turns out you have to get off 5th and wind around 6th for a while (finally someone gave me correct directions). But even then, building was hard to pick out. In industrial area, tiny sign. Station is far far smaller than the old one. Tiny, inconvenient, hard to get to, and did I say TINY? Why oh why didn't the city let them move in to king st station with amtrak. I went there, too, for directions. It was a yawning, gaping, cavernous, echoing empty abyss - at 7:30 pm! AND they gave me bad directions. Nice job, Mayor read more

A disgusting pit, very crampped, unfriendly staff, sketchy neighborhood, no stores nearby, Wi-Fi is weak to useless. Felt VERY unsafe.

This is a trashy fucking way to travel. Wanted to take a grey hound to save time on bus transfers to go from Seattle to Olympia. They do not offer refunds or comps even if the bus is hours behind schedule and inconveniencing everyone else. Now I'm sitting and waiting and they have absolutely no updates for all of the po'ed passengers. This is ridiculous-I write this review to warn anyone who is on a schedule bc greyhound doesn't care about how inconvenient this is for people. Never again greyhound. I hate u read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! First off, the station is dirty, horrible odor and the service is horrible!!!!! Upon arriving an hour before the bus was to leave, as stated online when purchasing my ticket, I went to the counter to collect my will call ticket. The guy behind the desk, Randy, was on his cell phone sitting. I waited at least 3 minutes while he talked on his phone until he came to the counter then asked if I needed something. "Yes I need to pick up my ticket from Will Call" I told him. He replied with, "it will be a minute". He then proceeded to talk on his cell phone. I stood there for what seemed to be 5 minutes staring at him while he finished his personal phone call. He then decided it was time to help me and asked again, "What do you need help with" (not in a pleasant helpful tone). I told him that I needed my ticket. His responses to my questions were short and extremely rude! Once we got on the bus it got even worse. The bus was extremely filthy!! I didn't even feel comfortable sitting in the seat, heaven forbid touch anything. I will say, our driver Greg was very pleasant. The bus honestly felt and sounded like it was going to fall apart when we would hit a bump. We actually had to stop twice to get the door to close (because it kept banging around) and to close the under carriage door. Seriously?!?!?! I will NEVER travel greyhound if I can help it!!!! read more

I just had my first and last trip on Greyhound January 24th, 2014. The dumpy Seattle station I can overlook, but the broke-down bus - NO! Pros: the driver was pleasant, the bus was clean and warm, and we were making great time on the Seattle to Spokane route when BREAKDOWN. Ok......4 hours later the replacement bus arrived. No information was provided by the driver, and I really don't think he knew anything. Not acceptable! Greyhound you need to keep your drivers and customers informed, as well as required maintenance on those buses! (An employee at the truckstop where we spent the lovely 4 hours informed me that this was the second Greyhound bus that had sat brokendown in 2 days! The other bus sat for 8 hours. ) If you need transportation to Spokane, use Amtrak or make a bus reservation through Amtrak that will put you on a Northwestern Trailways Bus! Much better service!!! read more

Got kicked out of here because I couldn't decide where to go fast enough. I had just left my husband because I'm very sick, and I don't want to burden him anymore, so I had become homeless that day, and I had been soaked thru by the torrential downpour, which, you know, seemed appropriate for the day I was having. I was planning on going East somewhere I could afford to live on my piddly Social Security income, but I was having a hard time buying a ticket which would take me away from the man I loved very much. The bus East didn't leave until after 11 that night, so I thought I had time; it was around 7pm. I listened to the people at the desk say mean terrible things about the people who came in to use their disgusting bathrooms, so when the security guard came to ask if I had a ticket, I was afraid they were going to be mean to me too, which I really couldn't handle. So I left the gross little bus station and walked up the street to sit under an overpass, and cried. I was going to wait until closer to departure time to go back in, but I decided to look at flights, and it turned out to be cheaper, and would take a fraction of the time. I understand that it's downtown Seattle, and you don't want vagrants making a mess you have to clean up, or making customers uncomfortable, but I was freshly showered, I had a big, clean duffel bag, so clearly I was travelling, and I was just sitting in an empty corner, minding my own business. The tears wouldn't stop, which was humiliating. There was no compassion for my obvious pain and sorrow. That was one of the worst days of my life. Don't worry, I won't be back to get in your way ever again. read more

If I could put "0" stars, I would. Absolutely terrible customer service. I went to drop off some prepaid packages to ship, and the clerk refused to give me a receipt for dropping off my packages. Idk what's so hard about unpacking and packing a bus. Especially in a fast, quick moving city. The public transportation in the PNW is weaker than I would've imagined for such a progressive state. Never using greyhound again. read more

I am currently on this greyhound bus right now, I just downloaded yelp so I could warn everybody about this station/Bus. It is true what you read- the staff are all unhappy, and seem rude. The people who go in and out from off the street are SKETCHY. But the station overall is a C- .. The bus is what you need to be worried about, I walked on the bus and the smell hit me like a ton of bricks. IT SMELLS LIKE SOMEBODY PEED AND POOPED ALL OVER THE BUS! There is garbage everywhere like old food, wrappers, etc. (I might actually throw up at this point) that bathroom is a chemical waste hazard and I will never take a greyhound bus again. I met some cool people but we bonded on how much the bus stinks.. if you do decide to take this porta-potty on wheels, I advice you to sit up front and bring water and maybe some crackers to hell you not get so nauseous. This is the longest ride of my life and I hope I make it off this thing alive. read more

I should have known better...Just because the departure/arrival times both to Seattle from Portland and back again were better, we chose Greyhound. We left Portland only 15 min late but arrived in Seattle 45 min late. Yes, I know it was Friday afternoon traffic and I can accept that. BUT, the driver had to ask the passengers if they knew where the Tacoma station was! That said, it was still much better than the return trip. The passengers stood lined up to board for at least an hour past departure time and never an announcement letting us know that there would be a delay or why. That is just plain disrespectful!! Additionally, the bus seats were extremely uncomfortable and there was no outlet for our electronic devices. This is our LAST Greyhound trip!! read more

Dear Greyhound Seattle Bus Station, I want to say the staff actually working at this bus station should file a unfair working conditions lawsuit STRAIGHT UP!: My daughter left Tuesday Night to arrive in Pullman at 8:30am for her freshman college orientation. My daughter & myself have no Greyhound experience. I in visioned These beautiful blue plush seats, I pictured the logo sign of this big bright blue Greyhound Sign. Talk about jaw wide open...I'm still picking mine off the floor. She made to Pullman just fine besides the FOUL conditions. Mind you my daughters father dropped her off. Coming home was another story. My daughter missed the bus she was suppose to transfer on to.....to get back to Seattle. She went inside to find out which bus she 's suppose to get on meanwhile the bus drove off. I call Greyhound to find out how to get her on the next bus & it was useless. They kept telling to call the station that she was at. I kept telling them it was closed & nobody was there Even there business hours said open to 11pm. We were calling from 3pm-5:30pm no answered 5:40 a woman arrived that said she work there. My daughter explained her situation.. the worker called my daughter a liar told my daughter they don't take credit cards that it cash only....Nationwide company & cash Only HMMMMM. So my daughter walks 5 blocks away from the bus station to find a ATM to only return to this Spokane Bus depot to be closed. I spoke to four different customer service agents none of which had good enough English to understand what I was asking or trying to do I spoke slowly & clearly just desperate to try to get the help I need so my daughter would not be alone in the middle of no where in a closed building at 18 years old until the next bus came at 2am. The last customer agent I spoke to said just tell your story to the 2am bus driver an he might let her on. I said so it a 50/50 gamble. He said yes but at least you won't have to pay the $20 fee. I was done, cooked, baked, burnt, heart diseased from all the stress inside and WILL NEVER EVER EVER put a loved one on Greyhound again. Greyhound you know better & should be ashamed. Another example of a company taking advantage that there patrons can not afford or choose to stretch there dollar. I am disgusted this building stands & that they don't value there company or the people that work for them to make this place a little cleaner, neater something. You can buy bleach & a toilet brush for under 5 dollar. My daughter finally made it home but this time I picked her up. This is when I saw this so called Greyhound station in downtown Seattle.Tragic just simply awful. Seattle should be ashamed to Seattle be in everybody business well here's a tip for you get in Greyhounds business they need a swift kick! MAD CUSTOMER aka wanted to go HAM read more

They rip you off. Tried to buy my son a ticket home for Thanksgiving and they show you a great rate online, but when you start to pay for it, they show fine print that there is an additional $18 charge to buy the ticket online. Absolutely the worst. Never EVER riding Greyhound again. Driver was hour late. And showed NO sense of urgency in prepping the bus to depart or during the whole trip slowed the process down. On learning that the Seattle bus depot would not be designated an historic landmark I wrote the following email to the Seattle Dept of Neighborhoods: I am greatly relieved to learn that the old Seattle Greyhound Bus Terminal will be torn down to be replaced by a building more consistent with a commercial center like Seattle. I have long experience with the old depot from the 50s through to 2002 and in every instance it neverfailed to disappoint. The whole place was always dingy, and dirty including the floors, the walls, the ceilings, the seating and especially the lavatories. It was mostly populated by the dregs of the earth including the homeless, prostitutes, drunks, panhandlers and druggies. True there were some few brave souls that ventured there because of their temporary circumstances but these tended to spend aslittle time there as necessary. On my last trip there in 2002 my wife and I had to wait there some 5 hours for a bus to Yakima (which terminal by comparison was spartan but at least was clean and well policed), and only managed to pass the time in relative safety by holing up in the attached restaurant buying innumerable cups of coffee and slow meals. Yes, in my experience the bus depot was always the pits and if anything it should remembered as a disgraceful portal for the great city of Seattle. It is true that Seattle has not always been as welcoming as it is now, for in its early days it had its dark and seamy side. It is almost as if in the transition these unpalitable attributes were condensed into one place - the Seattle Greyhound Bus Depot. Thus may I suggest that as a memorial to the passing of the depot that the new structure inocorporates a bronze plaque with a hole bored into it symbolising the impression it gave to most of those in transit. read more

Worst customer service and company policies ever. I wanted to purchase a ticket departing Tacoma, WA and arriving in Leavenworth, WA. There was a bus departing at 8:00 AM for my intended day. However, for some reason you weren't allowed to buy via phone or online for this schedule, and the station's ticket office didn't open until 11 AM that day! Make any sense? So I had to settle for Seattle to Leavenworth, fine. I call to get information on this new schedule, and after a 5 minute labyrinth of questions reached an operator... who barely spoke English. Fine, you should expect that these days I guess. However, to purchase via phone there was an $18 charge if the passenger wasn't the card holder, and a $10 charge if you are the card holder... What the hell Greyhound? Just terrible. Buying a ticket there. Hopefully there are seats left. read more

What is up with a company that has been with me thru so many milestones of my life. Yesterday, it made us late to a connection with the ferry system, which I have used before to make this connection. it was 15 minutes late. I can understand a bus breakdown. but a disgruntled employee getting up in front of bus every time she left the seat to tell us how bad Greyhound was. They are going bankrupt in March, the driver turnover, the ridership is down and they had to fly her in to bail Greyhound again. She did not drive in the HOV lanes in Seattle traffic, which you needed to do in Seattle to make anytime in that traffic. when it was pointed out the statement was she drove New York and Chicago traffic. Did not let anyone know how much we were behind. That is what the PA is for Miss Bus driver. I know I am a former charter bus driver myself.
