Bought ticket for my uncle to attend his brother's funeral from benson, Arizona to Los Angeles, ca the bus was 5 hours late!!! When I called to figure out what was going to was transferred several times every person I spoke with said they had no idea where the bus was? I thought on we site there claim was " you can track the bus" well that's a lie!! I kept asking if I can get a refund but you have to wait 24 hours to complain?? The staff of greyhound in its office in Long beach are not helpful and accommodating. The bus is 2 hours late and they are not aware what's going on with it and can't track where the bus is. Paid for my ticket online a week early, waited at the bus station an hour before departure, bus was 30'minutes late, then just for me and 6 other people to hear the bus was over loaded and there were no more seats, how does a business not know there aren't going to be enough seats?! I decided to go on a trip to SD last minute and take the Greyhound for my very first time. When I purchased my ticket online, I made the mistake of not reading the information provided in the email. It had stated that the tickets must be printed prior to arrival which I completely ignored. Fast forward to the next morning, I arrived to the Greyhound and asked the representative working at the front desk if it was possible to show my confirmation ticket through my phone - and of course the answer was no since they require a hard copy that will be handed to the bus driver. The representative informed me that the tickets must be printed or requested to be picked up at will call or else you will have to pay for an entirely new fare. However, he expressed that he believes in good karma and was kind enough to print my ticket for me and even allowed me to catch an earlier bus ride! I didn't get the chance to ask the representative his name, but whoever you are I am truly grateful! Thank you for your awesome customer service! read more

My hotel room was booked & the time to cancel had past. I was depending on my brother to drive me from point A to B but his wife needed surgery on the day of the trip. I don't do long drives & never freeways; especially in the LA area. Flights were ridicoulsly high, add that to a Taxi from the airport to the hotel (you've got a triple whammie!!!) My daughter suggested the Bus. I checked out two & discovered Grey Hound had a station right down the block from my hotel; in walking distances. Reasonable fee, fast checkin, polite driver announced approaching stops and times for departures etc. I would have given them 5 stars but passengers should be required to bath prior to boarding. I was forced to leave my seat because the passenger who sat next to me was foul! I preferred to sat next to the toilet. I went to sleep for most of the trip and rested well. Grey Hound... Good afternoon greyhound, I got my sister and my 3 year old nephew tickets to travel departing from Pheonix AZ, to Long Beach CA they stopped to switch busses in Los Angeles CA. First off it was departing 02-13-16 at 10:40PM bus did not leave until 1:20AM aside from that when my sister sat down with her child in his own seat because thats what we paid for, the bus driver told her to move her child so someone else can sit in his seat and she can sit her toddler in her lap for 8 an hour drive !!!! Which is hurrendeous! My sister told the bus driver but "i paid for his seat " and he said "well I'm sorry". When she called me before she was to arrive in Los Angeles and told me how tired she was from her body and sore from carrying her son through the ride i was astonished at the wrongdoing in the greyhound employee and rushed to Los Angeles to get her and my nephew. I told her not to get on the next bus. I waited to talk to the supervisor on the floor at the moment it was 8:10 by 8:40 the supervisor Victor was busy and still hadn't come to the front to hear me out!! This is the worst of the worst that your company or any company can do to a person !! My nephew is a person and he has rights just like we do as adults. I will not stay quiet and i will make sure people hear how my sister and my nephew were treated by your staff member. I could not get through to a supervisor they were short staff in los angeles that no one could assist us customers !! There were no refunds nothing offered to this situation is this how you treat people? What kind of business are you running. I called the terminal manager Jorge Ochoa and left a voicemail no response yet, I called district manager Edward Van heel and no response yet. this rather unpleasant experience i wish upon no one, this is not over i will write a letter to corporate. read more

My credit card was declined for no reason when I tried to book my ticket. The terminal was closed for Thanksgiving when I arrived in Long Beach from Venice. There was no indication on the website at all that they would be closed. It would take 5 minutes to update the site to indicate the terminal was closed. Especially since when I was checking the schedule that was my point of origin. The first bus was late. So I had to wait 6 hours in WIRE METAL chairs. If the ticket agents knew how to do their job, I could have caught the next connection that was a few hours earlier than what they said I had to take. When we did board I asked another passenger to put his things in his own overhead. He aggressively said "You ain't using it" and stormed off. I had a lapboard, my laptop a bag and a coat in my lap. I was planning on using my laptop and when I was done putting my lapboard and coat in the overhead. Nope, got to sit with it for the entire trip. It was a very uncomfortable ride. Legroom my ass. There were people smoking pot in the bathroom minutes after we left the station. The bus driver did lecture us and that was enough to cover my seat mate opening his 40 oz beer. Since, I was definitely the minority on the bus and I had already had one black man threaten me. I kept my mouth shut. One passenger spoke NON STOP from around 11pm until 2 something. The women behind me were speaking very loudly with their lights on until about 330 am. I would say the F word was used about 50 times in that time. Another woman would make loud "yawning" noises and giggle about every 10 minutes throughout the night. The bus driver had to tell someone to turn their music off at about 1am. The seat backs have a levered metal footrest that has a spring on it. The woman behind me kept pulling her feet off and letting it hit the seat. My seat mate and I were getting exceedingly frustrated as he and I discussed, we thought we could get some sleep. The bus drivers have absolutely NO CONTROL over the bus. We had people that wandered off the bus minutes before we were supposed to leave terminals so we had to wait. About 6 passengers proceeded to "goad and pick" on another passenger. I don't want to go here, but it was all black people laughing and jeering at a white girl, who didn't seem mentally stable and she was giving them hell. I even asked them to leave her alone at one point because she was getting very upset and yelling at them....bus driver...oblivious. When my seat mate and I noticed our phones were roaming to Mexico and both of our phones indicated we were in Mexico, we were confused. I was concerned because I don't have a passport. Then we had Border Patrol get on the bus and question us and the dogs went through the luggage area. They called a name and had a man go open his bag. I think they found something maybe a smoking device, and had him throw it away and let him on the bus. He and I had met earlier in LA when they erroneously told me I couldn't take the bus he was getting on because it wasn't going where I was. Yet we ended up on the same bus. According to him, Border Patrol had busted someone on his bus with a kilo and then they had everyone get off the bus and searched the bus and bags. There was no indication when I checked the schedule or booked my ticket that I was going to be detained at the Mexican border. This was a nightmare!! Meanwhile Greyhound treats the passengers like cattle. In Odessa, we picked up a man in a wheelchair and his friend. His wheelchair was parked in the aisle and had to be lifted up and moved numerous times so that people could use the bathroom. The driver said there was no room in the luggage compartment. BS!!! Meanwhile the white girl and the now 10 or so passengers that were picking on her got into it again. She couldn't find her purse and phone and was asking, then demanding people to get up so she could look for it. The guy next to her that was very heavy told her "I've gotten up 3 times I'm not doing it again." She called him a effing fat a$%. The bus driver is doing nothing about any of this. F bombs and yelling. The girl (I say girl but she was an adult), then shouts at the bus driver "She stole my purse. I wanna make a report" indicating one of the women in the group heckling her. Then they have to call the police and told us to be prepared to be searched. I'm trying to text my mom to let her know that I don't know how much later were going to be detained. We were not allowed to disembark. I don't think that anyone stole her stuff. So, I was trapped in a bus station for 5 hours. Detained by the Border Patrol. I think that's kidnapping. My trip took 7 hours longer than it should of. I was able to sleep for almost an hour on a 39 hour trip. If your traveling on with children, you might want to reconsider. They could get hurt in a fight or cranky when you add 7 hours an already excruciating experience. I have to give one star but my rating is negative 3 read more

Cheap fares should entice anyone to want to get out of town. Unfortunately, Crucero and Greyhound provide a sub-par service. I booked my ticket on line for a discount and followed the instructions sent to me in my email. I picked up my tickets the morning I was traveling, and returned later in the afternoon an hour prior to boarding. I sat in the waiting area waiting for a late bus. It finally arrived and we were whisked away to Los Angeles where I was to transfer to a Northbound bus. We arrived just under 10 minutes late and an employee in Los Angeles advised us that our connecting bus had already left. After waiting in a line for over an hour, the manager came out and yelled out to everyone in line that all Northbound busses were full and the next Northbound bus with seats would disembark at 6:00 AM the following morning. It was 3:30 PM when we were told this. This left quite a few passengers stranded and upset, including myself. I asked if a refund would be possible to which the employee said I had to mail my ticket in with a form in order to receive a partial refund in 3 to 4 weeks. I immediately asked when the next bus back to Long Beach would leave, boarded it and completed my journey back to where I started. So a round trip bus fare from Long Beach to Los Angeles, all in an afternoon for $20.00. Not bad Greyhound. And here is my non-polite review: I really don't like you Greyhound station employee. I paid a reasonable $20.00 for a service in which you could have advised me that my connection would have been missed. I do understand this is Thanksgiving and that there is traffic on such a holiday, however a simple "I'm sorry that your bus was late" would have been nice. You did not apologize. You stood cowering as a hundred employees started calling you an asshole, which you are. I missed out on dinner plans with my family today as a result. This definitely qualifies you as an asshole. Why aren't you informing your poor customer base of any impending changes in their travel plans as they happen? After all, we are the ones paying you to provide us this service. Okay, I'm sorry I called you an asshole Greyhound station employee. My anger should really be directed at your highly disqualified and poorly managed transportation company. Please don't take it to heart if you're reading this. But your company sucks. read more

By far the worse experience. I rather spend more money and book my bus ticket with Amtrak. Operators at greyhound are so rude! If you book your ride for morning route good luck trying to get a hold of anybody. Expect to be super late. Yes! WORST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!! Normally they let passengers with small children board the bus first. But nope, not this time. There was nowhere for me and my son to sit by each other and then we ended up finding one but some old man claimed he was sitting there. When there was many seats where he could have sat next to someone. So I went to tell the driver the issue I was having and he pretty much didn't care. Finally, another man got up and sat somewhere else so me and my kid could sit together. Unfortunately, it was on the back of the bus next to the disgusting bathroom where there was dirty tissue dragged all over the floor. The smell is UNBEARABLE!!!! Never again. read more

basically, the long beach station employees are far better than average for greyhound. thus 5 starts. greyhound is greyhound. so make sure you buy online in advance, have it printed out. if anyone has a situation where they are asked to put a child on their lap, etc. even though paid for a ticket, that is stupidity of the driver; just stand firm and refuse. 3 times I needed a ticket exchange for time and they had every right to charge me but they said they'll do it 'this one time', with a smile. trust me they are better than the other stations. read more

On June 21st I purchased a two way ticket from Long Beach Ca to Az, the ride there wasn't anything I wasn't expecting the A/C sucked as usual. The way back, now that was a nightmare! My return date was June 23, I purchased an additional ticket which was for my five year old daughter. After waiting a few minutes the bus driver turned the engine on, no more than a few seconds later the engine turned off. He did this about three more times before the engine finally turned on and stayed on. The A/C wasn't functioning at all, the restroom smelled so bad it stunk up the entire bus, and to top it off the man sitting in the row next to my daughters seat was drunk off his ass. I don't understand who I'm the right mind would let a drunk passenger on board, the man couldn't even walk straight let alone keep his head up, he was slurring very loudly and kept gagging, my daughter was scared the entire ride. There were two other children on board besides my daughter, no child should be exposed to such thing. More people were getting on the bus than were getting off. There were three people literally jammed together in a row of two seats, because the bus was super over booked. On our way towards San Diego the bus began to smell like burnt, everyone on board started freaking out we seriously all thought we were gonna blow up in the middle of the damn desert. We could all see the concern in the drivers face yet he never once addressed the issue or called for assistance. I don't understand what type of travel company allows its drivers to operate the buses in such condition, does the passengers safety not matter? The ride just started getting worse by the hour. When we finally arrived we were told our next bus would arrive in 15-20 minutes. We waited... and waited... 15-20 minutes turned to an hour , after waiting for 1 hour and a half.. oh wait I forgot to mention the drunk passenger. Yup, well he threw up , several times, this happened in the lobby or waiting area whatever you want to call it. Once the bus driver arrived, she was so rude and unprofessional. One of the passengers who was standing in line i front of me made a joke and said " somebody's late" and giggled trying to make conversation with the driver the driver snapped and replied " better late than never right?!!" And yanked the ticket right out of her hands. When it was my turn to give her our tickets she demanded I sit all the way in the back next to the restroom and said I I didn't she would personally ask me to get off with my daughter and reschedule my ticket, I was making eye contact and quietly listening as my blood boiled because of the way she was speaking to me, right in front of a huge line of people, she then asked me if and I quote " DO YOU EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH?! HELLO??!" I've never felt more discriminated against. The other woman, the one I mentioned earlier who was traveling with her two children one looking to be below age 1, was never told to sit by the restroom, the driver wasn't rude towards her. Yet she snapped at me, there was PLENTY of open seats inside that bus, and every seat had a seat belt, I know for a fact it had nothing to do with policy especially after she rudely asked me if I even spoke English. I contacted grey hound about the incident, the customer service reps response was her data base didn't show any delays and that they would ask the driver if he was late. So she basically brushed away the fact that there was a DRUNK man on board, the bus smelled like it was about to catch on fire, it was completely over booked, and I was discriminated against? Really? She kept concentrating on just one incident, the smallest one, hmm how convenient. I don't recommend anyone use this service, especially if your traveling with small children or in my case happen to be a gay Latina minority. If I could I'd give it -5 stars, they don't deserve this one star. read more

I made a yelp account specifically to complain about how big of a piece of shit greyhound is. I took a bus from long beach, ca to modesto, ca. My departure time was 2:45 pm and the boarding time said 2:25 so I arrived at 2:20. The bus didn't arrive until 3:15 pm and we didn't depart until 3:30. I was supposed to depart from modesto at 5:15 am, the bus didn't arrive until 5:45 . When I reached Los Angeles my luggage was missing and still is till this moment. I have been without my belongings for nearly a week. Nobody at the LA station was professional nor polite and the driver told me if my luggage isn't on the bus that he didn't know what to tell me, when he's the only person handling the luggage. I've been calling different stations trying to get my stuff back and still have been unsuccessful. After continuous calling I found out my bag was sent back to the modesto station when I live in long beach. The rude ass worker said it was greyhounds fault it ended up there when it was because I was never informed that I was suppose to switch my tag myself as this was my first time using greyhound. I was told it was supposed to be sent back to long beach Thursday morning and it's now Saturday and it's still not here. I keep calling los angeles to get ahold of the 24 hour baggage department which is closed .. how are you 24 hours but closed at the same time ? The modesto station hasn't answered the phone since Thursday to see if my bag was sent back yet. All the workers are uncaring and rude nonetheless. Never riding greyhound again and definitely recommend people to not use it. Take a train or fly or anything else . The bus on the way back didn't even have working outlets so my phone died right when I arrived to Los Angeles. They're always late, and they are unhelpful. Even tho they're in the wrong they don't treat their customers with sympathy or respect. Fuck greyhound forever. If i could give it 0 or negative stars I would. read more
