Had a paid ticket from Plant City to West Palm Beach. Was there 45 minutes early. The bus driver came through the Sunoco station tapped his brakes and left not giving me any time to get out of the car. Left at 2:28 the same time he drove in. Scheduled departure 2:35. I'd give zero stars if I could. Yesterday I needed a quick trip into NYC to pick something up. Bus was so delayed that it would have arrived 10 minutes before my return trip, giving me no time for my errand. The agent at the station said I could get a refund online, so I rebooked with another bus line in order to get there. I get that traffic happens, and the agent made me believe there was a solution. First Greyhound denied the request for refund, saying there was no evidence of delay, despite their own email calling it a "severe delay." I sent them that email and they offered a voucher for the price of the ticket only, not even the fees. (Never mind that my rebooked ticket was more expensive too.) Four hours later, they refused a refund, refused to include the fees in the voucher, and let me know that I'll have to pay fees if/when I use the voucher, so basically double the fees. "Customer service" also won't escalate this to a manager or supervisor, saying they are it. The best part of the trip? The awesome driver from Peter Pan on my return trip. He had the personality of a great tour guide! read more

Media Relations were contacted. Despite being told by the Media Rep that she "would get right back to me," no one ever responded. The bus ride was fine. It's nice that they have big cup holders. I wish the seats were like airplane seats so you could put a backpack under the seat in front of you. We did have one customer talking loudly on his phone for some time. Most bus lines make an announcement about this type of behavior asking people to be mindful of others. At the station in Hartford the station display board wasn't showing accurate info. My bus was scheduled for 3:40 and the board had it listed as 3:10. I asked the Greyhound representative and he didn't have a good answer. He said something about the board trying to catch up which made no sense to me. Catch up to what? He said my boarding pass was accurate. While waiting I found that they have a bus tracker online and discovered my bus was arriving an hour late. While waking around the station I also found that Greyhound has their own display just around the corner from their window and it also showed the delayed status. I was disappointed that the representative didn't mention the delay. He looked at my boarding pass and bus number. read more

Bus showed up 2.5 hours late. They never made an announcement and every time we asked the desk, the agent said it's getting close and should arrive in 15 min. I don't expect every bus to arrive on time but I do expect them to make announcements to help manage our expectations. read more

Ah, so, allegedly my stop is about half an hour away by now. It was two hours late to Springfield, leaving me hanging for three hours. So, been on the road 7 hours just to get to Vermont from Massachusetts, the usual. Ironically I paid for this trip's ticket with the voucher I got from the last time Greyhound screwed up. I've been having to push back my ETA for my poor friend who's going to pick me up, wasting his day too. I wonder Greyhound, how much did you pay off Massachusetts to kill off the Max bus? Worst experience I've ever had trying to travel. We tried two days in a row to get a bus from Hartford to New York and both days the bus was delayed or never showed up. Even though it's their fault, there are no refunds for these trips. We cannot take the delayed bus since we have an all day pass to New York and a whole day planned, except Greyhound sucks so bad they've ruined those plans consistently. Even as I'm writing this there are others asking for refunds and being denied and disregarded. Avoid greyhound. Find another way to get your destination because statistically you won't get there with greyhound. read more

When there bus does a no show and you have to fight to get them to give you another ticket then you go to bus again with your new ticket and again it's a no show but according to Greyhound the bus was here and apparently the riders are lying. When asked if they are that stupid to say that the bus was here when clearly it never showed it pitiful. Our Bus from Boston to NyC broke down in Hartford. The drive was the biggest lier, never seen anything like it. The driver tried to first troubleshoot an engine failure, then called his road side buddy for help 1h later. After 2h we are still waiting for his god damn road assistance company. The driver keeps saying, he is here in 5min, but times goes and goes and nothing. You will pay $30-60 for a one way ticket, but you'll better of taking Peter Pan. The bus driver reached his driving time limit. Instead of phoning ahead and explaining that he was 2 hours behind he did nothing until we got to Hartford and told us he didn't know what was going to happen he was waiting to hear. The truth is he had a bad attitude from the start was overheard in his phone complaining that he was tired and bored. In NYC he left the bus and disappeared for 20 minutes he told us it was a 10 minute stop then disappeared. I get that we all have bad days but he basically left us to find our own way and the staff in the office were of very little help. I was on the phone with customer service for over an hour when the bus didn't show up for over 2 hours, I missed my flight, had to spend an extra $100 to reschedule it (and spent 7 extra hours in the airport). Terrible experience! We took the bus from Hartford to NYC and it took us almost 6 hours. The driver did not know how to get there and at some point of the trip missed the exit. She was driving for 40 min around residential neighborhoods in New Jersey. There was burning smell on the bus. She got completely confused in the city so one of the passengers moved to the front to help her navigate. We thought that we have plenty of extra time to go to the opera but we missed it. When, after almost 6 hours on the bus and about 40 min to go, passengers got very upset and insisted to let them go in the city. Absolutely unacceptable. I will be looking for a refund of round trip tickets and never use Greyhound again. read more

I purchased a round trip ticket from NYC to Hartford to perform at a networking event at The Cloud on Congress Street. On the NYC side, there were no problems. Well, no UNEXPEXTED problems. It wasn't clear whether we should be in gate 82 or 83, and the bus drivers were hostile from so many people asking, but they made sure I got on the bus and it was a smooth trip. This leg of the trip, by the way, was Peter Pan. My return trip was on the 12:01am bus. I got to the station at 11:30. The Greyhound/Peter Pan customer service counters were completely closed. There was no signage to indicate the location and destination of any departing buses, and no employees to ask or make announcements. After looking, I finally went up to the bus driver and asked. His bus was going to Springfield, but the NYC bus would come in on track one. Fine. 11:53pm and there's still no bus. Given we were scheduled to leave in less than ten minutes, I grew worried, and went to ask the only other personnel in the building: a security guard. He said there was a midnight bus but it wasn't there yet. Ok.... In the meantime, I saw a bus pull in, with "Boston" on the sign in its window. It dropped its passengers off and then immediately departed, so it was definitely not my bus. Also, it was a Peter Pan bus, and the few other bewildered passengers who knew more about reading tickets said I should expect a Greyhound bus, though the two lines are merged. It's 12:00 and I'm obviously getting a little worried and annoyed. At precisely 12:01, the Springfield bus leaves, making me wonder if that was my bus after all. But it was a Peter Pan and I spoke to the driver who said he was NOT going to NYC. 12:15am rolls around and still no bus. I asked another security guard (his shift started at midnight) and he said it must be late. Other stranded travelers wandered around as well. I called both the PP and Greyhound customer service lines but they were closed. I asked security if they were able up reach dispatch, but they said they had no number. A Peter Pan bus arrived around 12:44am and me and several other travelers went to him asking if a) he was going to NYC and if not, b) could he contact dispatch to find out what happened to our bus. He tried on his cell but claimed dispatch turned their phone off and wasn't answering. Yeah right. Then, we approached the Greyhound bus driver who had pulled up and even HE had to call several numbers to get a person. He said dispatch said the bus had come and no one was there. Having been there since 11:30pm and speaking with a woman who had been there since 10pm, we all KNEW this to be false. The woman who got there super early somehow got a person on the Boston Greyhound line and she said the same thing: supposedly some invisible bus had come and gone unseen while we waited in front of all of the tracks for it to come during the entire scheduled window. She said she was sorry, but everyone in Hartford was out and even if she could call someone, they wouldn't be there for 2-3 hours, so we may as well wait for the next train at 3:50am and request a refund and file a complaint when we got into NYC. There were no other options. Some people left. I, being in NYC, had no choice but to stay. I did, however, have to call out of work for Monday, since I would now not be getting into NYC until 6:20am, when I normally GET UP to go to work. FYI, the 3:50am bus didn't arrive until 3:48am. Long story short: do not EVER ride either Peter Pan or Greyhound unless you have six hours of leeway in your travel schedule and don't need customer service. read more

I returned to Springfield Massachusetts from Knoxville Tennessee after burying my 75-year-old beautiful sisters, no that I am mourning this death and 3 weeks prior the death of another sister in Texas and prior to that death four weeks before I am mourning the death of my grandmother all due to covid-19. The bus was an hour late this black female bus driver had a attitude from the very beginning. Because someone turned on their radio and immediately turned the radio off once the bus driver notified passengers. This female black bus driver decided she would leave the lights on all night at the complaint of passengers and myself. She also became angry because some of the passengers would exit the bus once she decided to stop to stretch their legs and to grab a smoke this woman is extremely upset that passengers exited the bus she only threatened me, a 67-year-old black female in morning who also has a heart condition, high blood pressure, and chronic pain. White passengers who also get off the bus she never threatened those people but only me. She decides to kick me off the bus just because she has the power to do so and I think she suffers from implicit bias, believing a black female should listen to her orders or the passenger needs to be ejected from the bus in one of the areas most dangerous where women have been kidnapped and beheaded. Additionally she called the police and while making her report she told the police she believed I was on drugs and I had on a ugly wig. So I am completely exhausted she refuses to give me my luggage all of my medication is in the luggage ass is my bank cards so I've gone without food and without my medication for 2 days because I left on a Monday and did not arrive to Massachusetts until a Thursday night. This woman ass is Greyhound bus company is racist and intently biased because she never threatened the white people that were exiting the bus for a smoke and at neither time did anybody cause the bus to be held up. It is sad to see elderly people treated in such a despicable manner simply because the bus driver decides she can do as she pleases without consequence. So 5 days later, July 23rd I have still not found my luggage I have no closing attempted to make inquiry and not given any help. Greyhound employees mostly black employees and most of the travelers are black as well. So this is my discriminatory experience with Greyhound. I shall and will never, ever use Greyhound as a means of transportation. Because of the chronic pain that I have I am still suffering from being four days out away from home in Greyhound stations that are in the most despicable and criminal areas found. I do not recommend Greyhound to any woman man or child because the company is racist as is their black employees they have no care and no concern for your safety or your concerns. Got to the bus ten minutes early only to sit waiting for 40 minutes to get off and go to the window to be told that the driver wasn't leaving yet because her hours weren't right. Was offered another bus time as my son was going to miss his connecting so he took it not realizing that the new route would have given him a layover of 3 hours in Boston and he needed to be back to his city well before 10 pm. We found an alternate way home in the meanwhile and was told sorry no refund and not our problem its non refundable. Def their problem seeing as how the initial bus would have stranded him. This was my first experience with Greyhound Bus Lines. I bought my son a ticket from Hartford, CT to Tupelo, MS. NEVER AGAIN!! They lied about the "free WiFi." Not one of the 4 buses my son was on had ANY WiFi, free or otherwise. The first driver delayed the trip by an hour because he couldn't figure out how to turn on the defrosters. Seriously?! One of the buses had a bent rim or axle. He said you could tell by the way the bus was driving; that's pretty darn dangerous. So my son told me that the buses all shake like nobody's business so you can't sleep. However, during the night when other passengers were asleep, the driver gets on the loudspeaker and tells everyone to shut off their phones because he doesn't want to hear any noise. What?! My son said he woke them all up by doing that. But who is this driver to tell anyone to shut off their phones? The bus broke down and it was quite a delay, so that made 4 buses my child was on. BTW, he's still on that bus and I have no idea when he's going to get here. The driver has a bad attitude and speaks rudely to the riders. It's not easy riding on a bus for over 1,000 miles - not for anyone, but to have a driver with a bad attitude makes it all that much worse. I will never, never, NEVER use Greyhound Bus Lines again. Greyhound bus services was like taking a ride on the express bus to hell. I purchased a ticket to go from Hartford to New York to catch a flight.. After allowing many hours of time in between my arrival in New York and the time of my flight I got on the broken down bus which started making noises soon after we left the Hartford bus station at 1pm on February 7th after approximately 30 minutes on the highway we stopped. And stayed stopped. A while later the driver came on the PA system and informed us that the broken and that it would be about 3 hours before they sent another bus to come and get us.. At that point I knew I could not wait and took out my phone and called a Uber to the side of the highway and took a uber all the way to New York so I would not miss my plane flight. I would expect at least that the company would refund us for this journey without alot of issues and problems. How wrong I was... I sent a email which told me that I had to go another way to get a refund. I went to the website which told me to mail in tickets and such and then finally I called customer service whom I am on the phone with now for the last 43 minutes trying to figure out how to get a refund. For a ride which they admit was a canceled trip but still want me to go to the post office and mail in a ticket and then wait 6-8 weeks to get back my measly $20. I told them that I would prefer to just write a review so that others don't have this annoying experience. Long story short. Taking or relying on Greyhound is not the best of ideas. It woudl be good if they entered the 21st century and just figure out a way to do things electronically instead of further inconveniencing their customers. Its jjust pointless. To have a system like this says that they just want to make it so miserable for you to get a refund that you just give up. There are reasons why companies like Uber took over the Taxi business and soon enough there will be a company that will treat customers right and they will bascially take over the bus services. I'm so unhappy. We were planning to go from Springfield MA to NYC which was supposed to be a 3 hour trip. Our bus driver, Baxter Sean, arrived at our destination 2 and a half hours late. The bus was disgusting. It smelled like piss the entire ride. We had to get back to the bus station at 4PM to catch our bus back which only gave us enough time for a quick lunch and a quick look around at some shops. The bus driver for our ride home showed up to the station almost an hour late. The outlets on this bus did not work and the WiFi was horrible. We called customer service the next day to get a refund but after an hour and a half on the phone with them all CSR, Andrea Acosta, said was their records said the bus was only 22 minutes late getting to NYC which was a complete lie. She claimed she was the head of Customer Service which was the highest level we could speak to. She was very unhelpful and would not refund our money. From Boston we were on a Peter Pan bus that to say the least had seen better days. The return trip was horrific. We booked the 5pm this did not arrive, we waited two hours. We stood in line all this time with no updates. The staff were to say the least unhelpful and rude when passengers asked what was happening. One thing I know is I will never use this company again . We were heading to NYC from Springfield MA. I was traveling with my parents. My mom and I had tickets to go see Aladdin on Broadway at 1 pm. The bus picked us up a little past 8 am. The bus was disgusting, there was gum on some of the seats. I have never been on a more disgusting bus. We got on the bus and the bus driver made a stop in Hartford CT, before heading on the road towards NYC. The whole trip should have been 2 and a half hours tops. The driver even said we would get there at 11:30. I thought great, we would get there, check into our room and maybe get a bite to eat before the show. This is where the trouble starts because the driver missed the exit to go south and added another hour and a half to the trip. Apparently, this was not the only time that the driver had gotten lost on the way to NYC. The bus was not outfitted with GPS or a radio, the driver only had his own phone. Many of the other passengers started to take out their own phones and use the GPS on their phones to help him out. He didn't always listen to them when he really should have. Just like my mom and I, a lot of them had plans and appointments that they were missing too. It was a 5-hour bus ride that should have taken only 2.5 hours. Getting off the bus I heard the driver getting into a huge fight with one of the passengers. Lucky for my mom and I the theater was only a 4-minute walk from the bus station. We got there just as they were ringing the gong and about to lock the doors for the first song. Going back we had the same driver and it was just as bad. It took us 6 hours to get back. The bus was late picking us up. The bus driver never announced what stops we were at, so when one girl got off at the last stop and asked if it was Hartford, the driver was really rude and yelled at her for something that was not entirely her fault. She got stuck in the middle of Springfield MA alone by herself with nowhere to go. The company refused to help her. Other people were just as confused about which stop to get off at. My advice is to go with another bus company or take a car. If you do decide to take a bus I would do the research. If you do ride a bus don't ride Greyhound. My advice to Greyhound is that you need to train your staff on better customer service. They should not be yelling at customers or treating them so disrespectfully. And please update your buses to include radios and onboard GPS for your drivers. read more

Oh god where do I start. AWFUL AWFUL from start to finish. I took a bus from CT to NY at 1pm but it was overbooked (as always) and waited for the next bus which came at 2pm. My connecting bus was to leave at 6 but because my first bus was late I ran across the station to my next bus seeing as it had arrived at exactly 6. The irony is that because they overbooked, the bus hadn't left or boarded yet. I got on the bus for what was a 4 hour ride. I proceeded to go to the bathroom and it was LOCKED. I had another 2 hours to go. I had drank two water bottles so I asked the driver if there was anything he could do and he said "no". An hour later he asked the bus if anyone needed the bathroom, he said he would stop at a truck stop. I did not hear him seeing as he did not go on the loud speaker and I had my earphones in (the person next to me told me that he had asked). He then proceeded to go on the loudspeaker and I raised my hand and said that I still needed to go loudly. He did not stop. I ran to the bathroom at the station and it WAS LOCKED FOR CLEANING. I called costumer service to tell them about all this and they said they would give me 50$ in compensation. WHAT A JOKE. I could only use the 50$ over the phone and that meant there was a 15$ convenience fee. SAVE THE HEARTACHE AND USE PETER PAN. read more

I bought a bus ticket from Hartford to Boston for 10:45pm the night before thanksgiving. Nobody was working in the bus terminal after 10pm. The board didn't have any updated information about the busses. At 11pm a bus going to Boston arrived that was supposed to come at 9:30. The bus was about 3/4 empty after those who were supposed to get on got on. The 6 of us on the 10:40 asked nicely to get on that bus but were not allowed to get on and were told our bus would arrive in 10 minutes. We called customer service several times and they assured us the bus had left even though they couldn't track the bus for some reason. We sat there until 1 am to find out our bus wasn't showing up. Can I rate negative stars? Absolutely the worst service I've ever received from a bus line, and I've ridden on my share of cheap Megabus/Chinatown rides as well as buses in 3rd world countries. Please note: this station does not have Greyhound representatives. They will overbook you and all the Peter Pan representatives claim not to be able to help or accommodate other than to stick you on the next bus, which is at least hours later. Bought a ticket for a particular date and time; the timing was tight, but I would just have made it to my classes... if Greyhound hadn't oversold by 30 people! The bus driver didn't let us know only 5 of the 35 or so people in line would be making it on the bus, and let us freeze in the New England station until past time to leave before letting 5 people on and offering no explanation or alternative to the 30-35 people stranded at the station with no other bus coming for hours. My daughter is sitting in the Harford bus station. She has been there for over 3 and 1/2 hours. Apparently their driver will no longer drive them to Boston. They were told there would be a new driver there in 1 hour. It's been 3 1/2 and they are still waiting. Greyhound could have sent another bus from Boston by now. Customer service is a joke. No air, drivers are horrible and don't care about you, the WiFi doesn't work, your lucky if you even get a seat with an outlet or a puke bag, the buses have to be at least 10 year old and barely run anymore, arm rests aren't only broken but not there all together, there are no foot rests, no room, no tables on the backs of the seats, and to top it all off, they don't clean the buses and the trash from previous riders is still on board. Friday, March 9, 2018, my family took a Greyhound bus ride to NYC. We pre-purchased bus tickets and WILL NEVER AGAIN RIDE THIS BUS!!. The bus arrived at the station 20 minutes late and with seats available for less than the number of people waiting. A bus would be arriving in another 20 minutes for the remainder. This did occur but the bus driver got lost and we ended up in Queens for a Manhattan show. The only thing the driver could say was "well, they knew I never drove to NYC, I only drive to Boston". More than two late getting to show. Similar events happened on return trip. We sent a letter to the company who responded in a corporate way. No responsibility taken by anybody. read more

I don't think it's any surprise that Greyhound has terrible customer service so I don't know how helpful this review is. Anyways, I bought a ticket to NYC the night before and kept checking the status of the bus because I knew the weather was questionable. The last time I checked before I left my house, the online bus "tracker" said it was running 20 minutes late. So I drove an hour and a half to the bus station and when I got there I saw a sign saying the bus had been cancelled. I talked to the customer service rep at the station, who was about as helpful as a cardboard box, and she told me the bus had been cancelled last night and I should have checked my email. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?! I had checked my email and online and had received no forewarning. And they couldn't even refund my ticket at the station. I have to physically mail my ticket and wait 6 weeks for a refund. read more

I dread having to take Greyhound Bus Lines! I haven't had one good experience with this company. First of all GREYHOUND, PETER PAN and BONANZA bus lines have merged and therefore all the same company. HARTFORD SERVICE: Every few months I take a bus from NYC to Hartford and back and the service at Union Station in Hartford is HORRENDOUS!! The employees who take tickets are extremely rude, they do not answer your questions and instead ignore you. I have been left waiting hours for another bus even though I was there on time and had previously bought a ticket. When I asked why I was ignored as if I didn't exist. The most recent experience with the Greyhound employees in Hartford had to do with an employee who was there to load the bus with luggage. I had a very large bag that was difficult to maneuver. When it was my turn to board the bus I left the bag with the employee and instead of taking the bag, he motioned for me to haul the bag in the luggage compartment myself!! When I said under my breath "how's that for service" he took the bag and did his job. I wasn't surprised, however I was inconvenienced AGAIN and I look for every other travel option before I look at Greyhound. NEW YORK SERVICE: I have one complaint about Greyhound service in NYC. I was traveling with my cat and arrived early for a 4pm bus to Hartford. The gate numbers are not printed on the tickets (another negative aspect about the company's operations) and Port Authority Bus Terminal is very large and confusing. I asked a Greyhound employee where my bus was departing and he instructed me to a specific gate number. I stood in line for 45 minutes, it was well after 4pm and there was literally no Greyhound employees around to ask why the bus hadn't come. Finally, almost an hour after my bus was scheduled to leave, a Greyhound employee approached us (a large group of misinformed riders) and informed us that our bus departed at a gate that was at the opposite side of the terminal. The man who initially told me the gate number was incorrect and therefore I had to wait 3 HOURS with a very unhappy cat. It was a horrible experience. If you're traveling by bus I suggest you AVOID GREYHOUND/PETER PAN/BONANZA altogether and seek another company. read more

Busses are consistently delayed over an hour; the most recent one I took was delayed 3 hours. Never booking with them again.

I just spent 1.5 hours with 3 different customer service agents to find out that this company is probably the worst company in the world. They promised a 10% discount would be applied (on a fairly large purchase), and it didn't work when I made the purchase (and the discount code now won't work). So they charged me full price when I should've been charged 90% of that price. So they practically stole 10% of my money (that's called illegal). And no one in their entire customer service world has the ability or desire to help me do anything about it. So...basically this company stole my money and I think they deserve to be taken to court. I'm just too lazy to do it. read more

Omg the greyhound needs to improve their buses. This bus is loud and rickety so I can't sleep. Currently on a bus that smells really really bad. It literally smells like mold and it's unbearable and I'm stuck on this for 3 hours. I just sprayed perfume. Why I now remember why I chose to drive instead. read more

If you're looking for a cheap ride back to Michigan from Chicago and don't want to almost witness an arrest on the bus, don't. Just spend the extra money and take the train or even fly. The service was horrible and the staff was extremely disrespectful and had an attitude. I was shocked at the way the staff talked to people in line, and to no surprise the same service was followed onto the bus. The driver was extremely rude in giving instructions about rules of the bus, cell phone use, etc. Our driver kicked people off of the bus that appeared to be for no reason from where I was sitting. When the people refused to get off the bus, she quotes, "I'm from south side Chicago." The cops were involved and the entire trip got put off of schedule. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful staff. Next time you think greyhound, seriously think somewhere else because it was the worst way I could have ever spent $30. read more
