I do not recommend going here!!!!! We read Google reviews and they all looked great! ...So I went And Dropped my husband's boots off with Megan Feb 1st and paid $95 to have his soles redone. They were very worn down. A month and a half goes by and No word from her still so I call and inquire about the boots to be told she hadn't started them yet. I gave her the benefit of doubt and figured she had probably been super slammed. She reassured me she would start on them asap. Another two weeks went by, with me having to reach out for contact multiple times and left a few voicemails that were never returned- kinda annoyed by this point but she had finally let me know they were ready to go. So I picked up, and at the same time paid $85 to have another pair of my husbands boots redone. My husband wears the boots the following Monday to work and called me around noon, livid- to tell me the sole of his shoe was flopping off and he needed his other boots asap to be able to work. I went the same day right after hanging up with him to pickup the other boots and get refunded for them and to let her know what had happened. She apologized and said if we bring them back she could fix them etc... so again we give her the benefit of the doubt and take the first pair of boots BACK to Megan to have her redo them and get a call a week later the boots are ready to be picked up. This is the end of March by now and so I go to pickup and all is good- she apologized again and was super nice about the whole thing but the following work day my husband wore his boots to work, fully expecting them to be just fine and low and behold- AGAIN the sole is flopping off! This place is not meant for a working man's boots... it's meant for cosmetic fixes on shoes or boots. There were new scuffs on the leather and glue all over the sole both times and even though she did a good job shining them up- it did nothing to hide the evidence of work being done. They did not look good nor were they functional after we brought them to Megan. It's too awkward at this point to even go back so I'm disputing the charges with my bank and attaching photos here and there so people know not to go and waste their money here. It's unfortunate because the company probably changed ownership a time or two and the name is now completely destroyed. My husband also works with someone who he discovered a few days ago- had the same experience here with Megan. Anyways I hope this helps someone find somewhere that will take the time and put in the effort and detail to produce functional and quality work. read more

Negative stars. Dropped my boots off in May. Was told 2 weeks for repair. 3 weeks go by, and I go to pick them up. Not finished. Stopped 2 more times and called/texted. In September, I told her I'd be gone for 2.5 weeks. STILL not finished when I returned . "I thought you'd be back on the 6th." She had my boots for 5 MONTHS and still not finished. I run a small business as well, and if she had stated that she was having delays in getting the materials, or reached out in any way, I'd be more understanding, but her repeated "I'm sorry, I didn't get them done." in 5 MONTHS is ridiculous. I live out of town and was looking to have two (very loved) pairs of Frye boots resoled. I asked if they would work with me via shipping and Megan (the owner) said yes. I just got my boots back and they are perfect. Megan did a lovely job restoring the leather sole and wrapping them with a thin layer of Vibram for nonskid and durability. Important for leather soles. Megan brought my beloved Eccos back to "as new" condition from a fairly dark place. I didn't think it was possible.

First, I collect high quality vintage shoes. They don't make them like they used to is my mantra. Great shoes can be rebuilt over and over by skilled craftsmen to be new each time. I normally send my vintage Shoes across the country because I just don't trust anyone. I have seen really hack repairs done in the past. That said I am really am impressed with the work done on my shoes by Megan. I opted for a Vibram all weather sole made of rubber. This is tricky because they can end looking crappy, but not here. The edge finish is great one clean line. Sometimes an edge can look like some took a hacksaw to them. It appears the new stitching of the welt lined up perfect with original holes. The heel stack looks amazing with leather sandwiched between the rubber sole and heel cap. Normally you'll see the shortcut of a single piece rubber heel, again not here. What a pleasure to have a great cobbler that does incredible work in my own backyard!! read more

The box was delivered to the house and the puppy chewed through the box and shoe. I found the shoes out in the yard and they never even made it into the house. I thought they were ruined. I had a purse that had lost the attachment that held the strap in place. She tried to find a replacement but it was a strange size and difficult to find. She had already made some leather rings for reattaching the strap and just threw them in along with the refund because she couldn't find the right piece. I took my Filson duffle bag this morning because one of the brass rivets had popped out with a second one on its last legs. I had originally contacted Filson as they have a lifetime warranty but discovered it would take way too long and I would be responsible for shipping. Long story short, after googling for cobblers in the area, I found Gresham Shoe Repair along with a 105 year history. Two rivets at $3 each and $10 for stitching. The told me to pick up the bag the next day (4.2.14) but was pleasantly surprised by a call today saying that the work was done. The original 1970s white elastic material securing the buckle on my clogs, fell apart the day before I was leaving out of town. I have two pair of shoes that my dog had badly chewed. Several other repair shops would not repair them. Megan at Gresham Shoe Repair said she could fix them. I had material from the shoe company for one pair but the sandals were a different story. The strap over the instep was partially chewed away. The material was metallic and made in circles of different sizes. She completely made a new strap with materials she had that matched the original. It is perfect and she is so talented in this craft I would trust her to repair any shoe. My shoes look new again. Before I found Megan I was prepared to throw the shoes away. If you need a shoe miracle, this is the place to go! A friend recommended the shop, and I drove many miles to get there - well worth it. The business has been in place for decades, and the current owner, Gene Norman is a friendly, knowledgeable & SKILLED cobbler. I took in a pair of my daughter's Jimmy Choos that she had walked in all over Chicago in all kinds of weather. They looked like they were in need of a proper burial, with the heel worn down to a nail, leather pitted, and ornamental pieces flapping freely. I didn't have much hope, but took a chance on Gene's skills, and was rewarded with shoes that look (and smell) brand new!!! He smoothed the leather wrap back down & around the heel & replaced the tip, added a new thin rubber sole (since leather soles crack in the cold), secured all the ornamental pieces, and polished them til they shone. All for 30 bucks. He similarly fixed a pair of satin Aldos, making them also like new. This was a surprise for my daughter, and I even wrapped them up for Christmas. She actually thought I had replaced her "favorite shoes" with new ones. Should have seen the look on her face! Besides fairly charging for his work, Gene was reliable about how long it would take to have the shoes ready. Can't say enough good things about this shop. I highly recommend it. read more

I can't say enough good things about this shoe shop. The craftsmanship is excellent, and the service can't be beat. I purchased a pair of $$$ booties a few months ago, but the Portland rain soaked through them very quickly. Gene repaired the soles & rebuilt the leather that was disintegrating on the toe beautifully. It looks like he also shined the heel and toe before they were returned to me. Gene told me that it would take him about a week to repair my shoes, and would cost about $50 (a fair price; my new shoes were pretty damaged). He called me to let me know when they were finished, and when I picked them up the price was as quoted. He even recommended that I bring shoes with thin soles to him before I wear them, so that he can preventatively build up the sole for a lesser price. This place is magic! read more
