Excellent workmanship, prices. I learn about the craftsmanship of my shoes and boots there, have made decisions that influenced future purchases and brand-name loyalty, based on that information. He knows his trade! Fair prices, great work, they're done when he says so, which is a reasonable turnaround. Highly recommend! read more

I brought my Blundstones here to have the soles replaced and was charged $120. When I dropped them off, I was told the new soles were high quality and that the boots would essentially last me a long time. Based on that explanation and the price, I expected a professional, durable repair. When I picked the boots up, it became clear that the soles had been glued on. The shop owner later stated that this was explained upfront, though I don't personally recall it being emphasized in a way that made it clear this would be a glue-only repair with no stitching or reinforcement. Regardless, I was not expecting the quality of the work to be this poor. The glue job looked sloppy, and the soles started coming apart not long after I got them back. If I had understood that this repair would be glue-only and done at this level of quality, I would not have gone through with it and would have put the money toward a new pair of boots instead. I no longer live in Portland, so I wasn't able to return immediately. About six months later, when I was back in town, I brought the boots in again. To his credit, he agreed to redo the gluing . Unfortunately, even after the second attempt, the work still looks messy and you can still see the glue coming apart in some places. Although he was somewhat nice about it, for the price charged and the expectations set about longevity, this was a big disappointment. Fair warning to customers considering a sole replacement here: in my experience, the repair was glue-only, and the quality did not match the cost. read more

Had to go get cash because system went down. Price changed in the few minutes it was to go get cash. Item was not ready when it was promised. Then when I returned upon the second time I was promised, item was still not done. Not sure I will return. This is the third time I have had a repair done. Second time the item was not finished when it was promised. I think I will look for someone more reliable. read more

So difficult to find a great cobbler ANYWHERE NEAR PORTLAND - this wonderful man does the best job of anyone I have found outside of Italy!!!! Fair prices, fabulous workmanship - a true artist as far as cobblers go, as well! Would recommend him to everyone - and I WILL!!!! The quality of his work is impeccable; his service is as expected - not overnight, but within a normal time-frame for exceptional workmanship. I don't trust just anyone with my Ecco knee boots....let alone all my other shoes. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR EXPENSIVE SHOES HERE unless you want them destroyed!! Adding protective bottoms to brand-new shoes costs $150 or more per pair, and they end up looking terrible afterward. I also paid $30 for a shoe tree offered and it's an old pair from Nordstrom. When I went back to complain about the excess paint, poor line work, and melted arches, he replied, "What did you expect?" I wish I had seen a review like this prior to trusting Shoe Shop. read more

A pair of Birkenstock shoes had the rubber separated from the cork- took my shoe in- quickly was helped, was able to pick my shoe up the next day. Reasonable cost, friendly cobbler. This business shares space with many other businesses in this shopping area, restaurants nearby and parking is plentiful but you may not get a spot right in front. read more

Bought a new pair of Nicks boots. Sized properly per the manufacturer, but couldn't get them on. This is not uncommon. Strange methods to solve this are on the internet. Guillermo was referred to me by my closest cobbler (I live downtown). I guess the Shoe Shop can stretch boots in a variety of ways, not just the direction I needed to be able to put my feet in. A week later, like magic my feet slide in. I still have a few weeks to break these in properly. Thanks Guillermo! read more

My husband brought in a pair of my beautiful vintage boots and asked to stretch them a bit because they were half a size too small. This is a completely normal, standard request and any reputable cobbler should have been able to do that without any problems. These amateurs RUINED my boots. There are cracks and big crooked marks across the toe boxes and a few places where the leather has been gouged. I don't even know how they managed to do that. They were in pristine condition when we dropped them off. AVOID this place like the plague unless you want a priceless pair of shoes ruined. read more

I've been bringing my repairs to Shoe Shop for eighteen years now. They completely earned my business when I brought them a damaged leather coat. The repair ended up being more complicated than expected but they still only charged the quoted amount. Since then, I've probably saved hundreds of dollars by having them re-heel and re-sole our favorite shoes. Shoe Shop always does great work and I feel I can trust their advice on whether a repair is worth doing. I live some distance away now but it's completely worth the drive down to Clackamas. This place is a treasure. read more

I would give this shoe/boot repair shop ten stars if it was possible. I've taken worn out workboots with flapping soles in, dropped them off, and returned in a week to retrieve perfect, brand-new looking (but broken in!) boots with excellent new soles attached. The service is impeccable, the owner is kind (and funny, and talented), and the prices are reasonable. I can't recommend anyplace but Shoe Shop for the work they do! read more

I went to the shoe shop in Happy valley where I have gone many times and have received good work done on my shoes. Today I picked up my shoe, and agian good work had been done. However when he qouted me a price for the repair it was $16.99. I didn't look at my ticket until today, and it said $17.63. When I asled him what the extra was for he said it was a percentage that his machine adds on to cover his VISA loss. I asked him where he posted that information to the public. He said it was done by his bank, and he had no control over it. Yes, if a retailer plans to charge a fee for using a credit card, they are legally required to post a sign clearly notifying customers about the surcharge, usually at the point of entry and at the point of sale, so customers are aware before making a purchase; this is considered best practice to avoid customer confusion. It wwasnt the $.62 cents. It was the idea that he had not posted the proper signage. People should know what they are paying for. read more

They took a pretty big chunk out of my boot on the belt sander then tried to hide it by caking on a thick coat of wax. I had to clean all the wax off as everything was sticking to it, and found the damage. These are work boots so I probably wouldn't have minded if he was honest, but trying to hide it isn't right. And charging me full price when he damaged my boots makes it worse. I won't be coming back and would not recommend to anyone else. read more

Arrogant jerk. I'll never go back. Seems the glue has gone to his brain. Twice a shoes price to resole a pair. No no.

They saved my shoes!!! I beat the hell out of my favorite pair of expensive shoes, to the point that they were starting to have water damage from the Oregon rain. I was worried that repair would be too difficult because of the weaving of the shoe. They were able to repair the shoes and darken them so that the water marks were not visible. Thank you so much! I will be back. read more

Quality repair. Resoled Rockport boots. Better than new.

Very poor customer service. Very rude, he could not locate my shoe when I called with the ticket number. He said he'd call back but he did not. I went to his shop and he was sitting doing a repair, did not bother to call me back. I went to his shop and located my shoes and pointed to them. I probably would not have had a call back should I have not shown up in person. When I pointed to the shoes on the upper shelf, he replied in a disgruntled voice and said he would call back. NOT! I recently came into the Shoe Shop with a pair of my son's cowboy boots. The soles had holes worn all the way through and the heel was pretty warm down. Upon entering the shop I observed the cobbler helping a customer who wanted to buy supplies to clean and polish her shoes at home. He took the time to fully answer all of her questions and was very patient. She spent less than $10, but he treated her like a high dollar client. When he assisted me he went through the options, including cost, materials, and durability. We picked up the repaired boots and were very pleased with the workmanship and overall value. We will use the Shop Shop again. read more

I love this shop! They are so very nice & friendly. They make you feel welcome when you walk in & truly seem to want to know how they can help. I am on the"fluffy" side & I never even considered buying boots because of my size. They never fit my larger calves/ankles. I took a pair of heeled booties to him last year to see if he could help & he did. Best of all he doesn't make me feel embarrassed about my size. I was so happy. So this year, I got more daring & I bought a pair of full length boots. I brought them to him. He made them fit & they look GREAT! They are my new favorite footwear! I will never go anywhere else! read more

I only take my shoes to the shop. They do an amazing job and always very friendly And accommodating to your needs.

I highly recommend this store. I needed three pairs of shoes fixed and happened to stumble on this location and decided to give it a shot. I returned with two pairs of leather flats and a pair of Birkenstocks in need of resoling. The owner of the shop treated us like regulars and gave me a quote for the shoes after looking them over. He talked me through what he wanted to do and how much each pair would cost with the repairs. I handed him my shoes, paid my bill (which was reasonable), and set to return the next week. My shoes looked amazing when I picked them up, I will definitely be using him again! read more

When my shoe broke while on business travel, I was afraid I'd have to buy a new pair, but then I searched yelp to see what I could do... I chose this shop based on proximity to my office and high reviews on Yelp. I was not disappointed! The two gentlemen who were there were both super friendly, the shop was clean and comfortable, and the service superb. No promises they can always accommodate last minute needs like mine, but they fixed my shoe while I waited--and for a very reasonable price.
