Always order on the app to have my food ready when I arrive. Today when I arrived the server was overwhelmed with a crowd but when seeing I was there for pick up she quickly got my order together and away I went! More like 3.5. This is one of those chains throughout the city that have quite a few locations, but the coffee is fine, maybe even good, but not great. I will give them one thing that other places don't, however, and that is that they have an extensive cold brew menu with different flavors and interesting combinations. If you're cold brew fan, I would highly recommend coming here and checking it out. I can't speak to the quality of the cold brew since I don't drink it often, but I think it's super fun that they have things like cold brew flavored with lavender and such. That was the drink I got, and it was just OK. I like a cold brew pretty much plain flavored though. read more

Came to this spot early morning after shopping around in the area and absolutely loved it! Their lattes are delicious, but the food is what really stood out. We got the spicy avocado toast, the deluxe sandwich, and the turkey sausage bites. The sausage is so well made and the spicy avocado had a nice kick with the habanero oil. Gregory's Coffee at 551 Madison is a convenient location for a coffee that's near places I do business. I love their coffee and one of a kind pastries. They prepare all their pastries unlike most coffee shops. It's not the typical coffee shop in my eyes. They have a neighborhood family vibe wherever you visit one of their locations. If you're tired of the bigger chain coffee shops I recommend you visit Gregory's Coffee. Take note this particular location is closed on weekends. At least it was the last time I went. read more

This is a clean and pleasant Gregory's location with fast staff and plenty of outlets, not to mention good WiFi. It's got six small tables and it gets so busy, so it'll be tricky to find space to sit. It's also a much smaller Gregory's than usual, and I don't think they have a bathroom, so it's not the type of place you want to lounge around in for a while. I got the charcoal latte made with almond milk, and I actually didn't enjoy it. Just didn't taste good. This was the first time I didn't enjoy a G latte. I'd just steer away from that one! I did also share a banana cake with a friend here, and that's always a winner. You can't go wrong with a thick, fluffy, juicy, fresh slice of that. The pastries are always fantastic, and some of the best around. Gregory's will always be one of my favorite cafes around. The staff is always friendly and efficient, and the coffee is solid! read more

Gregory's is usually so great. Polite, professional and just fantastic but these guys seemed distracted, delayed and got the order wrong. Even after getting the order wring they were dismissive and couldn't care less. It wasn't at all busy. There was only two of us in there. Apparently if you add glasses to anything you're labeled a hipster and we all know hipsters KNOW coffee. DO NOT be deceived by the glasses that Gregory wears, this is your run of the mill Star$'s coffee. Sizes range from small (12oz) medium (16oz) and large (20oz). This would work for people who prefer their coffee with a good amount of milk/water but it doesn't work in regular cappuccinos, which should be made with a shot of espresso and foam. The cappuccino tasted like a regular latte with non-fat milk, and the regular latte tasted like a light decaf coffee. Basically, they tasted kind of commercialized: quantity versus quality. The beans here are a tad sour and the latte i ordered was served a bit too hot (venture to guess 180+) similar to how Japanese restaurants scald there sake to cover up the terrible taste. Service was quick with my order filled within 5 minutes. Decor is clean, similar to a Starbucks but with a different color palette and more minimalist look. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

I needed a sweet pick-me-up after missing a train home. While the ice cream flavors looked interesting, I opted for a blue coconut iced matcha latte instead. Aside from the striking visuals, the drink tasted great. There was sweetness from the matcha and the coconut but not super overtly sugary. I also got a box of four donuts. They're a little pricey, but each donut is a pretty hefty ring of chewy glutinous rice flour batter. I had them the following morning, and the donuts still tasted fresh. There was a little bit of oiliness from the frying, but it did not taste off or too greasy. I think this is from the meticulous frying process and good management of the oil. I got the Cookies and Cream, Rose, Lavender, and Pistachios. I loved the Rose and Lavender flavors, especially the lavender which had a solid floral flavor without being perfume-y. I look forward to trying other donuts and sweets from Bear Donut in the future!

It's a really big space - there's a lot of seating both downstairs and upstairs. The pastries are a little bit pricey. I tried the mango cake and also the black sesame rice cake. The rice cake was good, but the sporks they give you are completely useless against the rice cakes. The mango cake was about the blandest cake I've ever had in my life. One good thing is that, at least on the upper level, they do not rush you out whatsoever. You can literally stay for as long as you want.

Their bakers, cakers, and baristas serve up handcrafted cakes, freshly baked pastries and breads, delicious Lavazza coffee, and more. One thing that really stood out is their PB Rewards program. It's super easy to join via their app, and you earn 1 point per $1 spent toward free pastries, drinks, cake slices, and more and i even got a free pastry just for signing up. I ordered a chai latte and my free strawberry croissant pastry filled with soft custard cream and strawberries, dusted with powdered sugar. The strawberry croissant had fresh strawberries and cream and it was the perfect breakfast after a run in Central Park. The second visit was to take advantage of their BOGO cake slice deal through the rewards app. It's a fun way to explore their cake selection without paying full price. I ordered the Blueberry chiffon cake slice filled with soft cream, topped with blueberry yogurt soft cream and blueberries and the strawberry soft cream cake slice, a vanilla cake filled with soft cream and fresh strawberries, topped with more berries. Service was friendly and the line moved quickly. Prices are typical for midtown NYC, but all the reward app perks make it more reasonable. It was easy to get to walking down from the Bryant Park area. When we got there it was busy, but not too busy. My wife and I split a slice of chocolate mousse cake. The price is just right for the perfect size slice for sharing. On our prior trip it was a lot busier and it took a while to get a seat so we could eat. This time it wasn't as crowded and we were able to sit right away after getting our slice. On future trips to New York we'll definitely have to come back and try some of the other items available.
