I literally found Dr. Weathers' office a few hours ago, for my boyfriend who needed an emergency root canal. They are incredibly professional, informative, courteous and great at what they do! I probably got on their nerves a bit because I asked a million questions and took charge on my boyfriend's behalf. However, they didn't appear to be bothered one bit. Many dentists don't even do molar root canals, but we were in luck! My boyfriend and I are so grateful such a wonderful dental office and Dr. Weathers. Imagine this: It's a pleasant October Sunday and you have just sat down to a nice dinner. Before you even take a sip of water you are hit with a blinding pain from your mouth. As you start to tear from pain, you try to guess if it is a cavity, wisdom tooth or worse. Your only relief is ice cold wather, the absense of which even for a minute, allows the pain to take hold again. This was my situation just recently. After calling several 24 hour emergency dentist office number, I was left with no options other than to head to the emerency room. My brother found Dr. Weather's number on google and I called his emergency number. At 8pm on a Sunday night, he opened his clinic, did a full examinization and started a root canal resulting in a full relief from pain. He was very dedicated to ensuring that I would not be in pain when left and spent 3 hours treating me. The entire time he explained what was happening and what would be needed going forward. He also explained my payment and insurance situation. To top it off, I forgot my prescription at the office and he called me (now at 11:30pm at night) to find out what pharmacy would be near me to make sure I could get my medication if I needed it. He was my savior for the day and I'd recommend him to anyone who wants a caring dentist who is dedicated to his patients. read more

I had had a toothache for a few days when the pain became increasingly worse. I called Dr. Weathers on the recommendation of a friend after another dentist's office told me I would have to wait a week and a half for an appointment despite the fact that my pain was getting worse (see my review for Radiant Smile). The staff at Dr. Weather's office is so friendly. I called at 4:00 and they scheduled me for an appointment at 6:30 that same evening!!! They worked with my schedule to make sure that the time was ok for me. I walked back to the exam room as soon as I arrived and Dr. Weathers came in right away. Dr. Weathers and his staff are incredible. I stumbled across them accidentally three years ago when I desperately needed a root canal and dialed 1-800-Dentist. I left a message (on a SUNDAY!) and Dr. Weathers called me right back. They were able to get me in right away, and told me what to take in the meantime. I was taking Ora-Gel when I really should have been taking Advil...good to know for the future I guess. That made it at least possible to sleep until my appointment. I'll never forget that after I had finished getting my root canal, Dr. Weathers called me later that day to see how I was feeling. I was out to dinner with a friend from LA and he looked shocked; he had never heard of a dentist following up like that. Through several check-ups and another root canal later, I decided to finally have my chipped front teeth fixed with permanent crowns. All I can say is that Dr. Weathers and Hugo are true artists. I have received an incredible amount of compliments on the work they did. After sheepishly hiding my smile from close encounters for years, I really enjoy being able to not think twice about how my teeth look. I have been back several times since to see Dr. Weathers, Hugo, Silvia, Gayle and Maureen. They remember me everytime I walk through the door or call. I live in the city without a car, so it takes a little longer to get to the office, but it is well worth the time it takes to get there. I found Dr. Weathers through the recommendation of a friend. We needed a change. My dentist of many years prior to this let me down with a poorly fitted crown and did even worse for my wife, whose bridge broke after only 3 months. While his office was not listed among participating dentists in my PPO directory, they took my insurance anyway. Dr. Weathers & Dr. Gelman's office is located on the edge of the Chicago border, with Park Ridge Dairy Queen across the street from them on Canfield. I came in for my initial checkup and was amazed at Dr. Weathers' technical expertise when it comes to teeth. The office is much larger inside than what it appears from the street. It runs much deeper and has multiple rooms. In short, Dr. Weathers is extremely knowledgeable on dentistry and has an explanation for everything. He can explain why doing a filling in layers is better than lumping on a bunch and smoothing it down later. When he was replacing an old filling on a tooth, midway through the procedure he held up a mirror to show me my tooth that looked like it was sectioned into parts and then proceeded to tell me the approximate location of the nerve and how he would apply an insulating material to protect it from sensitivity once he fills it. While dentists I've had in the past just do the work, Dr. Weathers' encyclopedic knowledge of teeth makes him outstanding since he can explain it all so well. Did you know it is better to floss first and then brush your teeth? It removes the larger particles and opens things up for more effective brushing. It's these kinds of nuggets of wisdom that make each visit informative and reassuring that you're dealing with a pro. Dr. Weathers pointed out some of the things my previous dentist did wrong, most notably the ill-fitted crown that he personally replaced. My old dentist was blaming the adjacent tooth as the culprit but Dr. Weathers proved on multiple X-rays the problem was with the way the crown was placed on the tooth. The other thing I get from this dentist is a sense of complete care. He made a full assessment of my teeth, the required work as well as optional or cosmetic work that I may need on some teeth. He also outlined the costs involved upfront and set up a plan for how it would be done. Another thing to mention is their efficient scheduling. When I cannot get a preferred time, I make my appointment for a less convenient time, but should a better time become open due to a cancellation elsewhere, his office will call and reschedule me for a better time or date, even more convenient. While I see Dr. Weathers, my wife primarily sees Dr. Gelman. He too is a very knowledgeable and savvy, skilled dentist, though he is much younger. My kids also see him since he is the "young, cool dentist" where Dr. Weathers is the skilled veteran with his dry, intellectual personality and eclectic knowledge from pipe organs to home-made barbecue sauce. I have a massive pain, and I was controlling the pain with a medication. They made a mistake on my appointment, and they did not have any appointment for me. Really? I had been having pain in my jaw on and off for a few months. I've also suffered from debilitating headaches since I was about 13 years old. They've never been diagnosed as true migraines, and although I'm not convinced I have migraines, I take migraine medication as prescribed by my psychiatrist. A couple weeks ago, when the pain in my jaw became worse than it had ever been, I became convinced I must have had cavities between all my teeth. I didn't have a dentist and had not been in to see one in well over a year, so I began the daunting task of calling around to see who could see me as soon as possible, and who could work around my difficult schedule. A friend and coworker recommended Dr. Weathers, and I am so glad I took his advice! First of all, Gail in reception is an absolute saint. I got very lost finding the office (it's not actually difficult to find, I was just a bit scatterbrained and I rarely leave Logan Square), and she was so helpful and kind on the phone. Gail and Dr. Weathers both stayed after hours to see me, which I thought in and of itself was above and beyond considering no other dentist office I called could make any concession for me, despite how much I emphasized the pain I was in. As it turns out, the pain I was having didn't seem to be related to cavities or any dental problems I expected. Dr. Weathers asked me a lot of questions about my headaches, migraine medication, and a recent sinus infection, and after performing many tests on the alignment of my teeth and the movement of my jaw, guessed that I may suffer from TMJ disease. He gave me some some literature to read about TMJ while he took well over a page of notes on me (!) and I was shocked to find that so many symptoms I've had since I was an adolescent and began to develop headaches seem to relate to a problem with my jaw. When I asked why no dentist had ever pointed this out to me before, because although I had not been to a dentist recently, I went every six months as a child up through college, Dr. Weathers said that although TMJ problems are known in the dentist world, many dentists do not make them a priority in their practice. Lucky for me, Dr. Weathers does, and with his help I am on my way to finally finding some relief from my chronic headaches with an NTI device instead of medication. Dr. Weathers is incredibly kind, funny, articulate, and definitely puts his patients' best interests first. His office is welcoming, his receptionist go out of their way to accommodate their patients' schedules and call to check up on them. The hygienists I've had the pleasure to meet were also incredibly friendly and very gentle. I would recommend Dr. Weathers to anyone in Chicago, and I look forward to getting my TMJ issues and other dental needs taken care of through his office. I've never been passionate about going to the dentist before, but I figure it's never too late to start. read more

Dr. Weathers is so kind, he is going to be my new regular dentist! I called his office at 2.45 pm on a Saturday because I had a horrible tooth ache and my regular dentist did not have any emergency contact information on his office voicemail. Dr. Weathers has been my dentist for 5+ years. I originally chose him when I worked closer to his location but continued with him even when I started working (and living) in downtown Chicago. He is the absolute best dentist I have ever had. He is friendly, extremely knowledgeable and explains everything well. Moreover he is a perfectionist in his work (exactly what one would want from a dentist). Dr. Weathers honestly outlines all the options and also points out when something does not need to be done or can wait. His work is always outstanding. I have been going to Dr. Weathers since I was a kid. Its been over 25 years. He is a great dentist. He really takes the time to explain things and gives you all your options for treatment and he always make sure things are done correctly. Just recently I cracked a tooth when I fell and ended up needing a implant. I was so nervous but Dr. weathers and his staff really helped me remain calm through the whole process. Dr Weathers saved my trip to Chicago! I live in New York and was traveling to Chicago to visit friends and family with my new fiance. In the airport, right before we boarded the plane, a permanent retainer I had since I was a teenager came loose and was poking my gums! My fiance did a quick search for Emergency Dental Services in Chicago and we found Dr Weathers. We called him, explained what happened and he offered to stay late for us (until after 9PM on a Friday night!) so that we could come in once our flight landed. He was so nice and professional, and I was in and out within a few minutes! Can't say enough about how much we appreciate him helping us out last minute and staying after hours. I found Dr. Weathers through my sister who gave me some great feedback, as her results where awesome as well. I wanted to get braces for a long time but had visited other dentist prior to this one and they explained the procedure which included regular braces and pulling out a couple of teeth! Did not seem like a good idea to have braces at this age and let alone pull out a couple of teeth. So it's no surprise why it took me a long time to decide... its time. All I wanted was a good smile and I decided to go for it. Finally I decided to schedule an appointment with Dr.Weathers, he explained the procedure very clearly answered all my questions and made sure I understood. To my surprise he said invisalign will be no problem for my case and most important no teeth had to be extracted. I was amazed at his response and just wondered why I never came here to begin with. My experience coming here has been overall awesome; the staff is great, friendly and very professional. They are very flexible when scheduling apt and most important they remind you when you're next is. The dentists are knowledgeable about the procedures and will explain in detail, I can honestly say I never left with a question mark in my mind about what was happening with my case. When I came here I wanted a good smile, something that I can show and not feel embarrassed about. I new I was in good hands but never in a million years would I have thought that I would get these wonderful results and in the end not a good smile but a fantastic smile! One of my front teeth chipped in half the day before I was to fly to New Zealand. I called a dozen emergency dentists in the Chicago area, and Dr. Weathers was the only one to answer the phone. We chatted about the incident, and he told me he would be happy to fix it up right away. I arrived at 5 pm on a Saturday evening and he stayed and fixed my tooth after hours. I've been a patient here for a little over a year or so. I have been going through a root canal for a little while due to some unusual issues with my tooth. Although it has been a frustrating experience (with the tooth) everyone there has been really helpful and they do a great job of explaining everything to me. When I had to make a decision for a new treatment plan for this tooth I asked for additional information on my options (including, most specifically the cost...) and they were able to send me a detailed summary which has been making my decisions a little easier. Still getting work done on this particular tooth, so stay tuned :) My only complaint with the office is that it is a little difficult to schedule a timely appointment. I know my work schedule is also difficult to work around, but I wish I could get in sooner sometimes, rather than weeks out. However, they will call me at times if they have cancellations. read more

Dr. Weathers is wonderful. I was in Chicago visiting relatives and on 12/31, my crown fell out. My brother-in-law found Dr. Weathers and he waited for me to get there from Woodfield Mall. He also informed us there was an accident on highway so that it is better to avoid it. What an amazing 1st patient experience! I came here due to all of the other reviews I read. I am so glad I did. From the moment I called to book my appointment, until the moment I walked out, I received the most undivided attention I have ever received at a dental office. I met about 5 different people, and all were so pleasant. I booked my appointment, and when the day came, I realized that I had a meeting right at the start of my appointment. So I called to reschedule for a different day, but they wanted me in that day. So they worked around my meeting to get me in. Although I was not able to fully finish my first visit to their standards, they were so flexible in having me come in after my meeting and then set another appointment for the following week to finish my initial visit. All of the routines that were performed were so thorough. I have never had a dentist explain everything that was goinf to happen in the detail that Dr. Weathers did, and then keep expalining it as the tests were being performed. As I was on the chair waiting for the xrays to start, the person who made the appointment for me over the ohone came over to introduce herself to me. I loved that! They took their time and never once did I feel rushed although they had other patients.I am so glad I found Dr. Weathers and his team. I would definitely 1000% recommend him if you're looking for a new dentist. read more

The day before a long holiday weekend when most dental offices were closed, (including mine,) my front tooth chipped. In a panicked state, I found Dr Weathers' number on Yelp and called the office at 6pm. They had me in that night to fix my problem. A short version of my review: If anyone's looking for a dentist, Dr. Weathers is definitely the person to go to. Elaborated version: A few months ago, I made my very first appointment with Dr. Weathers. Before that, I had not seen a dentist in several years. I suspected having a lot of cavities and I knew I had to go, but I was so nervous/reluctant about going through with it. Apart from the general anxiety and unease at the thought of being in the dental chair, I was also very embarrassed about the condition of my teeth I got myself into. And not having any dental insurance, I was concerned about the anticipated costs. When I went in for my first appointment, however, I was pleasantly surprised to be met with a 'well, you're here now and that's what matters' type of moving-forward approach. The evaluation I had done was very thorough, and I learned a lot of new things about my teeth that I don't recall being brought to my attention by my past dentists (ie how the nerves in my teeth extended longer than most people, how all of my molars had deep grooves, how I have a condition called dry mouth that may be contributed by my allergy meds, etc). I asked a lot of questions (as I'm often guilty of), and though I can't say how they really felt about my inquiry, all of my questions were answered and explained very patiently. The first overall impression I got away with was of how knowledgeable, informative, considerate, and really nice Dr. Weathers and his team were [and after a few visits now, that impression still holds true]. Upon my asking, Gail (the office manager) drafted a treatment plan for me with estimates, and being mindful of my financial situation, she listed out the things I needed done in different 'phases', so that I could get my most urgent work done first. After getting those done, I was told the other things listed on the plan were relatively minor and could be done at a pace that was comfortable for me. I really appreciated that. Not once did I feel pressured to get something done. If anything, it was me who wanted to move things along out of concern that they may end up being more work/costly in the long run by waiting too long. I was also glad to learn that they offered a two-month, three-month payment plan for costly procedures. As for the actual quality of the work itself, I quickly came to realize that I had been psyching myself out for no reason. Everything I had done (fillings, injection for the fillings, cleanings) were all painless. Dr. Weathers is very skillful and thorough in his work-- checking to get all the decay out several times before sealing and adjusting my bite several times until I'm fully comfortable. All the fillings I had done looked and felt seamless, and they never caused me any problem (here's hoping it stays that way!) Although I'm really kicking myself for not taking good care of my teeth and ending up with a lot of cavities, I am so very grateful to have found this place. This review is really long overdue. I found Dr. Weathers on a Monday night when I was desperate to be seen for tooth pain before I had to fly out of town the next morning for job interviews. Given his great reviews on Yelp and the claim that he might be more likely to see me than another dentist at such short notice, I tried giving him a call. I completely expected to be redirected to an emergency number or have to wait through the night to hear back, but no! Someone spoke with me immediately (it was around 8pm) and checked with Dr. Weathers who said to come right in. I ended up needing a root canal, and Dr. Weathers gave me the choice to do it then or take my chances and come back after my trip. I chose to just get it over with, and so began my 10pm root canal! He was wonderful, kind, gentle, patient, and talked me through every step of the way. My case ended up being more complicated, and he could only complete part of it, but he did everything he could to make sure he covered all his bases with me and that I was prepared for whatever happened after the numbing wore off (luckily, he did a great job and I felt fine after that!) - including a prescription in case I needed it and a referral for a root canal specialist who could try to finish it for me (who, it turned out, discovered using microscopes and special drills that in fact there was no way more could be done on the tooth, and so I returned to Dr. Weathers, grateful to have gotten that confirmed, and he finished the filling). I have since stuck with Dr. Weathers for other treatments, including a cleaning (more thorough than I have ever had in my life: a deeper clean, better education about my dental care, a no-pressure-to-buy lesson on electric toothbrushes, personalized free samples, AND they even took my blood pressure and did a full mouth exam for oral cancer, etc.), teeth whitening (I've had two of my three visits for that and the results are great so far), and I am looking into getting a crown and implant that I've considered for years but have been putting off (which will involve invisalign since my childhood orthodontist failed to prepare my teeth to be properly spaced at the roots for a needed implant since I was born without a tooth). Finally, I recently had increased sensitivity on a tooth that I had to get work done on in the past because of gum recession, and Dr. Weathers again saw me on the same day and did what he could to help, which ended up not being quite good enough and so they did more for me just yesterday. I'm still waiting to see if that did the trick, but if not I trust that they will keep working diligently to help me to feel better. One thing that I love about him is that I feel like I can trust him (for example, he has told me what he would do if I was his daughter or if it was him in my position, and I really believe him)--I feel confident that he truly has my best interests in mind, and even has recommended things to me that might mean him losing the business or making less money in the end. He also shares my value in dental health (with aesthetics being a secondary gain) and has enlightened me immensely on all the long-term risks/benefits of dental care. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Weathers to anyone who needs a dentist for anything ranging from routine needs to more urgent emergencies. You won't be disappointed! read more

Having grown up at a time and place where fluoride was unheard of and children's dental care didn't exist, I had to see many more dentists in my life than I would wish anyone to have to. Dr. Weathers is by far the best dentist I have seen. Six years ago I came to his practice on a recommendation and I wish I had done so many years earlier. His amazing skills and intelligence to solve dental problems, his ability to sense his patient's wishes and - yes- the patient's budget limitations are most impressive. and makes one feel safe. His staff including his hygenist are most competent, friendly, and widely interested in aspects of dentistry beyond their duties. The most impressive work he has done on me recently was a free-hand restoration of all my (very worn) front teeth with composite alone. It was very much cheaper and painless than 8 caps or implants, but they look fantastic and work completely natural. read more
