I'm very sad to say that this doctor is now retired. Yay for him but a sad day for my family and I.

Dr. Gregory Hsu has been my opthalmologist for many years. I first learned of him when I went to a short stay center for a day surgery. I asked anyone I encountered who they might recommend for cataract surgery. Dr. Hsu was enthusiastically recommended by most, if not all. They praised his skills and "bedside" manner. I went to Dr. Hsu and found that all the praise was true. I was very sad to learn that he had retired. Dr Hsu was my eye doctor for a very long time. I went to call and make My appt and he closed his business. I wish he would have let his patients know. I call or letter would have been helpful. Now I need To find another doctor as good as him. This will be hard Since Dr. Hsu was the best. I wish him a wonderful retirement. New added on message. I found where all of Dr Hsu's patients are at. My husband and I are patients of Dr. Hsu and were referred to him by our primary care doctor. We couldn't be more pleased! My husband had cataract surgery done separately, on both eyes and I have had the same surgery on one eye. One thing which surprised me was when I would go to his office, there were a couple of small dogs wandering around in the waiting area. The very friendly dogs were available for petting if you called them over to you, but otherwise, if you were a weren't a dog afficionado, they wouldn't bother you at all. When I went for a check-up this week, the absence of canine companionship was not there. I asked Dr. Hsu where the pups were and he told me that someone complained about them. I couldn't believe my ears! The dogs in this office were like therapy dogs. They visibly calmed waiting patients and it was obvious that those people who interacted with the dogs enjoyed doing so. I have not read the comments from those who degraded Dr. Hsu because of the dogs, but I have heard about them. My thought is that they were just negative and wanted to cause a problem by making a mountain out of a mole hill. I hope the pups are welcomed back to the office. They brought a ray of sunshine into the office! And by-the-way -- we are very pleased with Dr. Hsu as an eye surgeon and his friendly and competent staff, as well. read more

Worst customer service ever, i had an appointment and the lady at the front desk was so extremely rude to me I couldn't believe it . She was waiting on a customer when I walked in, she did not greet me, did not help me at all when i asked questions, her attitude was so negative and she was extremely rude. She did however greet the lady behind me and assisted her before i was assisted. She had also made a rude comment and i even said excuse me and she repeated it in the same rude manner. I would never recommend this place to anyone i have never been treated so awful. I left never seen the Dr. i will not tolerate being treated like that, im sure he's great but she defiantly should not work in customer service. I would give this place negative stars, Dr. Hsu can do better with is selection of staff. read more

He was a great eye doctor and recently closed his practice. We never got a letter to where he sent our medical records and no one answers the phone anymore. Does anyone have an answer to this? Don't we love a Doctor who really cares. Don't we love the Doctor's Team who really cares? Dr Hsu and his team are one of the most caring Doctor/Team we know. And being 75ish, we know many Docs. We just met Dr Hsu in Feb. The Virus hit! So in June, my wife and I comfortably elected to have our Surgeries every Monday for 4 weeks. They went very smoothly thanks to Dr. Hsu. Monique made sure we were thoroughly prepared for the surgery and that we understood the how and when to take the many drops. Ashley, Lisa and Alex were part of the team that caringly interfaced with us throughout the process. Dr Hsu has ideal characteristics, one would want in their Cataract Surgeon. He has patience, is immensely thoughtful and is extremely thorough. In addition he is solely intent on answering our concerns with a unique caring attitude. The office staff is friendly and helpful. Dr. Hsu is very professional and personable as well. He has a warm personality and treats his patients with care and concern. Dr. Hsu has the latest medical equipment. He performs general eye exams as well as eye surgeries. He also has a nice variety of eye glasses that he has available as well. Dr. Hsu is the Absolute BEST of the BEST! I CAN SEE! How does one leave a review describing Dr. Gregory Hsu, DO, Ophthalmologist, Cataract Surgeon's remarkable ability to restore sight? His confidence, humility, and that HE literally came back to his office between surgeries to do an emergency exam based on my terrified description to his Medical Staff the day I called his office at Sunset Eye Center. Dr. Hsu went above and beyond anything anyone would expect from a busy Surgeon. His pure skill doing my extremely difficult Cataract Surgery, complicated by SLE, Ehlers-Danlos connective tissue autoimmune disorder was brilliant and far beyond a standard procedure cataract. I had lost my sight in less than a week, from unrestricted vision, to legally blind in 7 days. Dr. Hsu did my cataract surgery, there was a moment during the surgery of hyper-focused silence, 15 minutes later I opened my eyes in recovery at Flamingo Surgery Center, I could see. The surgery was painless. I was blind at 6am, at 10am I could SEE. 24 hours later in Dr. Hsu's office at Sunset Eye Center my eye was 20/25, 4 weeks later 20/20, perfect. When Dr. Hsu called me personally a few hours after my surgery to "See how I was doing?" I was so grateful I responded with, "Today you are God! Because this is a Miracle." His response was humility... Mine was that of a blind person who could see. There was nothing else I could say to adequately express my gratitude. My other eye was completed on 2/10/20, this was review was typed 2/13/20 without glasses. Dr. Hsu is personable, professional, knowledgeable and thorough. It's wonderful to go to a doctor's office and not have to spend hours waiting. He is always prompt and quick. The office staff has always been great. On my last visit I completely forgot to ask Dr. Hsu to check something. Rather than making me come back for another visit, I was told that if I didn't mind waiting, Dr. Hsu could just take me back since I was already there. My regular ophthalmologist is an awesome doc but was not able to get an urgent appt. My symptoms for about 1-1/2 weeks was itchy, watery, very red eyes and very little crust on the outside corner edge of eye. At first, I thought allergies and/or dry eyes (which I suffer from). After home remedies were not working, fortunately, I was able get a same day appt with Dr. Hsu on Wednesday Jul 11th. He did his exam and said I did not have pink eye; just dry eyes. He prescribed an ointment to put on the top and bottom eyelashes at night only. Fast forward; my symptoms became worse. Eyes were pretty much bloodshot with pain and same symptoms. Called on Monday the 16th and was in surgery and asked if he could possibly prescribed something else. Front desk lady said he would want to see me (I get it I guess). I was able to get an appt with my doctor on Tuesday the 17th. After examining my eyes with all applicable test; he said I definitely have pink eye. I ask him why the pervious doc did not see what you see and I have the same exact symptoms if not worse. Of course, he would not dime out another doc; but said maybe he did not do a full eye exam. I said he did exactly what you just did! He just kind of game me a look like "I know". I have insurance but my copays are $40 and prescription for eye medicine is $10. He cost me an extra $50. Would not recommend him at all. Do not get me wrong I love dogs! But who has dogs roaming around the waiting room/back office). SMH.. Forgot to add..my doc prescribed antibiotic drops and my comfort level has went from a 10 to a 5. read more

I went to see Dr Hsu a while ago. I know I had problems with my eyes and want to get treatment, at least get his advice how to treat my eyes. He spent about 15 minutes to check my eyes, and he said "I can't treat your eyes, and you have to see a specialist". I asked him what's the problem, and he repeated you have to see a specialist. He did not give me any explanation. I went to see another ophthalmologist a month later, and my eye's problem is healed by that doctor. In addition, that doctor has wonderful attitude and very patient to explain everything very clearly to me! For me, I never want to see Dr. Hsu again, I do not trust his skills, his attitude very bad! read more

I am a fairly new patient of Dr. Hsu. I was concerned with my right eye due to pain, redness, light sensitivity and the front desk got me in immediately the same day. Wait time including paperwork and appt was a total of 30-40 min. I have been to the office twice so far and have not waited long. From front desk, dr check up, to check out, I was very pleased on how professional everyone was. Dr. Hsu found the problem right away and seemed very caring. So far, I am pleased with their service. My one one one experience with Dr Hsu has been good, as he has taken the time to explain things, etc. However, I recently went to Dr. Hsu for new eyeglass prescription. When I took the prescription to get it filled at a provider and got new glasses, the prescription is worse than my existing pair. I call Dr. Hsu's office to get a follow-up check up to confirm the prescription, and they tell me the soonest they can get me in over a month from now. That seems so excessive and I am therefore unable to get correct glasses for what will be another 6 weeks, at best. Does not feel very patient focused or customer service driven. read more
