Easy Check in, nice staff and clean office. The Shepherd Eye Center is located at the same address…read moreas the Nevada Eye Center. They send you text messages before your appointment to explain the check-in process, which is easy peasy. The only thing I disliked is that they wouldn't take another optometrist's diagnosis of my uncle's cataracts. We essentially did all the tests over again after Dr Roter had performed them last month. My uncle had to spend another $90 just to be told the same thing. After seeing two employees, we finally got to see the doctor an hour later. The office is very warm so if you're like me take some ice. I would also suggest taking some ice water since our appointment ended an hour and 45 minutes later. By that point, I couldn't even make the next appointment because my back was hurting so bad. Oh well! By the time we left at 4:23 p.m., all of the people that were sitting in the waiting room had already left. The doctor was great though. He was very nice to my uncle.

Please verify everything yourself before going here…read more I left this office questioning both the accuracy of my eye exam and the way their billing practices are handled. I was diagnosed with dry eye and cataracts and told I needed glasses. I later got a second opinion, which found no dry eye and only slight lens discoloration--not what I understood from the first evaluation. That discrepancy was concerning enough on its own. Then came the insurance issue: I specifically asked whether they were in-network and was told yes. Afterward, I was told they meant Regence, not VSP, my actual vision insurance. That distinction should have been made BEFORE my appointment. The original bill was $315 and was eventually reduced to $118 after I disputed it. I paid it. This review is not about the money. It's about the experience and the lack of transparency. My advice: verify network status directly with your insurance, get copies of your exam results, and get a second opinion before accepting a significant diagnosis or buying glasses here. Patients shouldn't have to do detective work to figure out whether their diagnosis, insurance coverage, and bill are accurate.

Today's appointment was to analyze the state of me left eye. Before my trip to St. Thomas in December 2022, I face-planted on my com create family room floor. My head was cut open and my left eye turned black. But no ER for me before the trip, I had packing to do. So jetted off to St. Thomas for a few days with all pictures of me taken from a distance - NO SELFIES (lol) when we got home on the 19th I finally went to the ER because it really hadn't gotten much better. Had a CAT scan to see if I broke anything around my eye, got some drops for the eye and an order to follow up with Dr. Kelly. It took me a while to finally call and get an appointment for today, January 25 2023. Instead of it just being an appointment to address the obvious, we did all the eye sight checking stuff and found out my prescription for my glasses had changed. But after all that, Dr. Kelly took a look at everything and it's just a burst blood vessel that is slowly but surely healing. I received my new prescription and was on my merry way. I highly recommend Dr. Kelly as he is really good at what he does. Having had several appointments with him for various things I wouldn't go anywhere else.
