I was contacted by Dr Irene Voo's office that they don't accept my health insurance anymore. That the cash out of pocket would be $850 and that she was semi retired. I told the office girl named "Briana" to give me a day & I would call back & let her know either way what I had decided. I told her that I didn't want to book an appointment then just cancel or just not show up. So please don't take me off of the approved list & I'll call her back tomorrow. I called back the next day to book an appointment & found out that Briana had taken me off the approved list so I would have to start the whole process over again. This woman is a gem! She has a very pleasant and calming presence; which is much appreciated when visiting a retina specialist. Her entire office is covered in snapshots of tropical beaches, most of which span from floor to ceiling. I'm fairly certain she chose this decor so that when she dilates your eyes, you can still stare at a serene view- especially since you won't be able to bury your face in your phone to play candy crush to pad the time. read more

Dr boo has a nice personality but seemed rushed. I provided several years of scans from my regular eye doctor who referred me. I had waited two weeks for a appointment. They took a scan and said I would need surgery before long but this was in the eye with good vision. After I left I got a call that she had reviewed my records and should get a shot. When I called back they said the next available was nine days away, I said okay and an early morning appointment was given. The day before the appointment I called and was told no appointment was made. I could get one in two weeks. Who reviews the records after seeing a patient. Unbelievably awesome! Dr. Voo really impressed me! She could not be more kind, intelligent, patient...just wow. And her amazing office staff members were very sweet with me on the phone and were able to get me in very quickly when I described my symptoms. She is clearly at the top of her field, and she was able to confirm what another retina specialist (Dr. Murthy from Pasadena/Beverly Hills) told me -- that I had retina tufts, not tears. She knew of and praised Dr. Murthy, which was quite comforting (even though I had already formed my own positive opinion of him, which I wrote about in a previous review). She is extremely ethical, and I could tell within a minute that I could completely trust her. I even told my Uber driver on the way back to my Vegas hotel that he should see Dr. Voo if he has retina problems (because he complained of vision issues). She has the type of personality you wish all doctors would have. And she knows her stuff. You are in good hands with Dr. Voo. Thanks, Dr. Voo, for being a great doctor AND classy/warm person! I was referred by my optometrist to see Dr. Voo to take care of a hole in my retina. I was quite impressed with her knowledge and skills. She explained to me what exactly needed to be done to take care of the hole in my retina and calmed my anxiety regarding the procedure. The laser coagulation surgery which she performed on me went well and I had no problems after the procedure. I was in and out of her office within an hour and was able to drive home soon after that. Dr Voo is a wonderful doctor. I first saw her 4 years ago when I unknowingly had detached retinas in both eyes. I had to start laser surgery on the spot and Dr Voo was extremely comforting during such a stressful situation. She is always friendly, calm, poised, and knows her stuff! If you are like me and have bad side effects from Medications or OTC drugs DON'T go to this Dr. Voo she doesn't listen to you when you tell her you have had a bad side effects from a certain medication. I had eye surgery and I told Dr. Voo that the a particular Antibiotic gave me severe headache and really high blood pressure. The reason I knew this was from Cataract Surgery years prior... so I told Dr. Voo what Antibiotic I could use so I don't have bad side effects.... Ok retina surgery day and after surgery in the Recovery Room they would not release me for several hours because of the very high blood pressure and major severe headache... I was finally released but I suffered for many more hours after I got home.... I called Dr. Voo's office because of the severe headache and they asked me to come into the office. Eye pressure was okay, but she said that she must have put in to much solution back into my eye after surgery and would have to draw some out... so she proceeded to put a clamp on my eye lid to keep it open... now visualize this... take it that I just had eye surgery and the eye was totally swollen black & blue and very tender... she then put a drop in my eye and then took a needle to draw out some of the fluid... I screamed because it hurt so much...... all that horrible experience and it still didn't relieve my headache and high blood pressure until later that night. Okay I go back to her office 2 days later for her to check the eye... what does she say to me "Oh you don't have an allergy to that Antibiotic, I used it in surgery".... it still makes me angry.... well she doesn't know it but she is FIRED! read more

I never thought I would look forward to seeing a doctor, but that is what is so great about Dr Voo. I had a problem with sudden floaters and flashes, but I did not have a regular ophthalmologist. I read some good reviews on Yelp, and called her office. They got me in that same day even though they were booked up. The office itself has a calming vacation theme which helps when you are so anxious about your eye problem! The staff is good, as well. Dr Voo came in and greeted me like an old friend. She was bubbly yet concerned, compassionate and knowledgeable. I trusted her immediately. She explained everything that was going on and made sure all my questions were answered. Dr. Voo is a wonderful ophthalmologist. She not only has super medical skills, but also has excellent personal attitude towards her patients. I had a surgery a month ago in one of my eyes. I had a lot of questions and concerns before the surgery,and she explained all my questions and concerns very patiently and professionally.
