I selected Dr Horner from a random list provided by my workers comp rep. Worst decision ever. He and his office staff were pleasant in nature. I was asked to fill out a 15-20 page packet beforehand. He skimmed through it while I was there. He just looked at my hand. Didn't take any measurements. He asked a few questions and then went to the adjacent room to transcribe my report. He included measurements as if he had taken them and also included responses from the patient, myself, that I didn't say. Basically stated that my wrist and hand looks wonderful, recovering perfectly.... Then walked me back to the reception area while telling me that I more than likely have a permanent injury that I just need to learn to live with. He didn't state that in the report. Please do yourself a favor and do not go to this Dr. He works with workers comp and writes what they want him to in the report. He does not care about the patient or your recovery. I'm afraid I will lose my medical coverage through workers comp and have to return to work with a painful permanent injury. I left the office in tears. Just horrible! read more

I had two visits. There will not be a third. Dr. Horner spent less than a minute with me each time.. His assistant did an x-ray on the first visit. Dr. Horner then simply walked in, looked at my hand and without discussion, walked out. The nurse came in and taped the fingers, said it could be a torn ligament and to come back in six weeks. At the follow up visit, Dr. Horner walked in after an hour of waiting and left again in under a minute, maybe 30 seconds, with no discussion at all regarding the condition or diagnosis. The assistant came in later and suggested we set up a follow up visit. Ha.... No thank you. I'll go elsewhere for a professional opinion and experience. read more

I was initially sent to another doctor for carpal tunnel symptoms. I requested another doctor/ second opinion and was sent to Dr. Gregory Horner. Dr. Gregory Horner took my case and is absolutely amazing. He listens to my concerns, addresses all of my questions. He has done surgery on both of my hands and the incisions are barely noticeable. People in the medical field always compliment how natural his work looks post-op. He is sincere and I can tell that my best interests are his priority. I would recommend Dr. Gregory Horner to anyone and everyone! Thank you so much Dr. Horner, I appreciate you! read more

I am so truly thankful for the work Dr. Gregory Horner has done for me.  I just recently had Carpal Tunnel Surgery which I am still recovering. It was quite an emotional thing for me, but he assured me that everything would be okay, and I felt very comfortable with him in all aspects. The surgery went without a hitch. Healing is a process. And I am so very happy with my incision results. I whole heartedly recommend him. read more

After taking a horrific fall and shattering my wrist, I was referred to Dr Horner by another orthopedic hand specialist who looked at my X-rays and said "I don't feel comfortable touching you, I'm going to refer you to Dr Horner". Dr Horner was extremely professional, caring and supportive during my recovery process. External fixator to repair my wrist and 3 intrinsic releases for 3 of my fingers...all of this has given me a functional wrist and fingers! No, it's not perfect, but at least I have motion (the ER Doctor had prepped me to not expect much). I would DEFINITELY see Dr Horner again if a need arises! read more

Dr. Horner was my surgeon and I suffered an injury known as a Scapholunate Dissociation. An injury in which I thought I would never be able to have a functional wrist/hand ever again. But here I am, 4 months later after surgery, with a wrist that is nearly fully functional! Dr. Horner is really down to earth and easy to talk to. I couldn't be happier with the results! Thanks again Dr. Horner! Office & staff were also very nice and helpful! I attached an image which shows my before and post op results. read more

Gregory Horner, MD - These are my before surgery and final result x rays with Dr. Horner as my surgeon. - Sports Medicine Near Me - Pleasanton, California

Visited Dr. Horner, a referral from a friend, came in upset about what another Dr, had said about an injury and the possibility of no option to surgically fix, after meeting w/Dr. Horner, there was light at the end of the tunnel. He was direct, no frills, all business and gave us hope. I would highly recommend him. read more

I was referred to Dr. Horner for an infection in my finger. He removed the nail where the infection was but never bothered to look at the lab results which showed I had a staph infection that needed antibiotics. I had to return the referring physician when the infection worsened to actually get someone to read my lab results and take care of the issue. She was floored that he did not even bother to look at the lab results and left me in a worse state. Additionally, every time I went to see him I would be left waiting in a treatment room for 30 minutes to an hour. When he would finally come in the room, he would leave within a short amount of time (less than a minute) and return 15-20 minutes later. I found him arrogant and unwilling to listen. Please do yourself a favor and find a physician and practice that actually gives a damn about their patients. read more

I had a sports injury playing lacrosse. I called in to tri-valley orthopedics and was surprisingly given a appointment the same day. Although the wait was long to see Dr. Horner, once i saw the doctor, the wait almost seemed worth it. My visit with Dr. Horner wasn't like most doctor visits. Dr horner was super nice and super easy to talk to.He was super funny and easy to interact with, he put everything in terms that i would understand. His almost laid back demeanor made him more approachable, which made it easier for me to ask questions and to talk to him about my injury and my frustration of not being able to play lacrosse. I think most doctors should be like Dr.Horner. Everyone needs a doctor that you can actually understand and interact with. Thank you to Tri-valley for making my injury easier to deal with :) read more

I went to Dr. Horner for a second opinion. I wish I would have went to him originally! He was very attentive and determined to get my hand working again. He has a relaxed disposition and is very approachable; he took time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. I would definitely recommend Dr. Horner. If anyone is looking for a great orthopedic doctor, go see him! read more

I Sew Dr Horner on 4 separate occasions due to pain and cramping in both hands left arm and elbow pain. First to take x rays , 2nd visit month later he walked in gave me an injection in the left wrist after 1 minute he walked out. I tracked him down to explain what to expect and to explain what comes next. 3rd visit he asked how I feel , I explained the pain still existed and was travelling up my arm all the way to my shoulder, he said OK and once again walked away refusing to discuss my terrible arm pain. The 4th visit was an injection at my right wrist, again ignoring my questions and concerns. He has no compassion for his patients and seems to work as most doctors do now on a assembly line system to see and charge as many patients as possible. He has no bedside manner and refuses to discuss or hear concerns from his patients. I am now experiencing terrible pain at my left hand, wrist elbow and upper arm leaving me unable to sleep and function during the day. read more

iI was a workers comp patient being treated by Dr. Horner for carpal tunnel in my left and right hand. He was very nice and explained everything. My appointments were fast and efficient. he has such a wonderful staff. The best part of all during both of my surgery they made me laughed through it all. Even better I feel better in about the exact time frame he stated. The therapy sessions were wonderful. read more

I was referred to Dr. Horner by another physician and had high expectations of him and what he could do for the pain I have in my arm. I have seen him twice now. Both times he recommended surgery before any form of therapy, even before an MRI or X-ray was taken. Also, on both visits he saw me for a few minutes and then stepped out of the room, never to return. I did not feel he gave me the attention or quality of service I need and all patients deserve. read more

I recently had a carpal tunnel release performed by Dr. Horner. First off, I was amazed the day of my first appointment that I was seen ON TIME! That has not been my experience with many doctor visits in the past. From the very first visit, he cheerfully greeted me and was able to recognize my symptoms almost immediately. He explained to me, very patiently and thoroughly, the type of procedure I would need to relieve my symptoms. After seeing the fear in my eyes from the word "surgery" he empathetically reassured me that he had performed a numerous amount of these procedures and took great care to see to it that I did not leave his office until I felt comfortable with everything. The procedure went stupendously! My results were unbelievable! My post-op visits were very positive experiences as well and I have never felt so at ease like when under the care of Dr. Horner. Thanks Dr. Horner! read more

I suffered a broken wrist and was referred to another doctor in this practice by the ER. That doctor was not available so I was scheduled with Dr. Horner. They took an x-ray and he came in the room and said I needed surgery with no explanation. I, unfortunately agreed to this without doing more research on Dr. Horner's reputation and my injury. I had surgery to realign my wrist to ensure recovery with full mobility. Following the surgery, neither Dr. Horner nor any of his staff came to discuss the outcome of the surgery with me or my husband, and I was sent home. There were no follow-up calls either. It wasn't until I went in for my first post-op appointment three weeks later (my appointment was delayed because he was out of town) that I discovered an additional procedure was performed. I was shocked when the cast was removed and I had a two inch incision on top of my wrist in addition to the three inch incision on the inside. I also learned at this appointment that he had done a bone graft with synthetic material. I was never informed in advance that this additional procedure was a possibility nor was my husband who was present in the waiting area throughout the procedure and afterwards. When I asked about the bone graft, I was told that they used synthetic material because they didn't know my religion. I suggested that they cover this with patients in advance of surgery in case this is necessary and Dr. Horner told me it would take too much time to educate patients about this possibility in advance. The outcome is not satisfactory. After three months of initial physical therapy, Dr. Horner said I did not need anymore and it would take two years to see a full recovery. It has been two years and there has been no further improvement. I continue to have reduced mobility and strength in spite of the invasive procedure performed. At my last appointment, we discussed removing the hardware but he was not confident this would improve my condition. He had no explanation for my poor outcome. Had the outcome been successful, it would have been possible to overlook his arrogance and complete lack of bedside manner. I would not recommend this doctor based on my overall treatment and experience. read more

I worked for Dr. Horner for 16 years and I cannot say anything, but wonderful things about him. It was an absolute pleasure to work for him! Within those 16 years of working for him, I first hand was able to see what an exceptional doctor and hand surgeon he is! He has an incredible demeanor, he is attentive, thorough, personal, and most of all appreciated and loved by his patients. Just four years ago, I suffered from excruciating back pain and many other physicians were unable to find the root of the problem, so I sought Dr. Horner's advice immediately. Dr. Horner recommended I receive an MRI in order for him to take a closer look at my spine, and at my dismay, I learned I would have to have back surgery. He immediately diagnosed me and expressed to me that I would have to undergo a complete fusion in addition to rods and screws. I was saddened by the news, but also felt a sense of relief because after many other appointments with other physicians he was able to diagnose me immediately and recommend to me the steps I needed to take to precede with my care. A year after I had undergone surgery, I continued with unbearable pain and other physicians had suggested I take pain medications or recommended a cortisone shot, but I again seeked the advice of Dr. Horner and he strongly suggested I keep with physical therapy and continue to be active, and with time I would get better. With that being said, it has been four years since my back surgery and I have to admit it has been a long and painful recovery, but as each day goes by I have started to get better and have seen significant results in my gait and mobility. I feel incredibly fortunate for my health and well being today, and I owe that much to Dr. Horner. Today, I no longer work for Dr. Horner and continue with my recovery, but I cannot express enough gratitude to him! read more

I would give Dr. Horner 5 stars for the actual surgery for my carpal tunnel release. However, I give him 1 star for his respect for his patients. The doctor seems to be perfectly fine with letting his patients sit in a small gurney before a surgery for multiple hours until it is finally your turn for surgery. For me, I was told to be there at 7:45 am and my procedure would be at 9:15, actual time he finally got to me was 11:30. So, I was thinking he must have had a big hold up or something very important to be so late, it turns out that he was just late getting there that morning. Maybe it was a fluke that morning, I'm sure he would not do that often. Well, it turns out that this is how he does things. As I was waiting in the waiting room for my post operation appointment going on the 2nd hour, some of us started sharing our surgery experiences with Dr. Horner and it turns out that everyone was frustrated at how long they had to wait for their surgery and all their other doctor appointments. Average time wait seemed to be 3 plus hours before their surgeries. Regular doctor appointment time wait was over an hour. I thought that after this last post op. Appt. I will not have to come back , then I asked a lady who seemed to be there the longest, what time her appt. was and her's was a hour before my appt. time. Since I have already waited an hour that told me I had another hour to wait for my turn. By the way, the waiting room was packed, most had Dr. Horner (of course). So I left, I refuse to waste 1 more min. of my time for this rude and thoughtless man. I was supposed to have my stitches removed and I figured I would find another way to get them out and when I went to my physical therapy appointment the following day, I asked her if she could take them out. She had someone more qualified do it and they were out in 30 seconds. One more point, we all never received an apology for being late from Dr. Horner. Now, you have to figure if it is worth it or not to see Dr. Horner, my opinion is NO, there are plenty of hand surgeons that have more respect for their patients, unless you have no life, all the time in the world and like waiting in waiting rooms then go for it. I was told by my physical therapist that there are other hand surgeons at Tri-Valley Orthopedic that are excellent too. Hope this review helps and saves you many hours of your time, I know that I wish someone had warned me. read more
