Persistent Knee Pain After Multiple Surgeries Last year, I underwent my first arthroscopy and partial meniscectomy with a different doctor at Golden State Orthopedics. Due to ongoing pain in my right knee after that initial surgery, I was referred to Dr. Elrashidy. Dr. Elrashidy initially recommended extensive physical therapy, and I completed at least 30 sessions. However the pain did not resolve, leading us to pursue a second surgery for Hoffa's Pad removal. It has now been three months since this second procedure, and I am still experiencing the same level of pain I had before the surgery. Concerns Regarding Post-Surgical Care Following my second surgery, I've had three follow-up sessions. However, Dr. Elrashidy has been absent from all of these appointments; his Physician Assistant (PA) has attended in his place. Dr. Elrashidy had assured me he would help manage my knee pain, but I feel he has become disengaged since the surgery. This situation is extremely frustrating. read more

I began seeing Dr. Elrashidy in October 2024 after being referred to two other orthopedic doctors for a left shoulder rotator cuff tear. I was already well-versed in shoulder surgeries, having undergone four surgeries on my right shoulder over the past ten years, so I knew what I was looking for in a surgeon. From the moment I met Dr. Elrashidy, I knew I had found the right person. Not only is he extremely personable, but he truly listens. He took the time to hear all of my concerns and showed genuine interest in my very extensive history of orthopedic surgeries. Little did either of us know that my shoulder was about to turn into quite a project. This shoulder and arm had finally had enough after years of being overused and relied on while my right shoulder went through multiple surgeries and physical therapy. Two days before my pre-op appointment with Dr. Elrashidy, my left bicep completely tore--rolling up into the classic "Popeye" deformity. When he saw it, he didn't hesitate for a second. He immediately jumped into action and was fully committed to getting me fixed. Once he got into my shoulder and arm, it turned out I had quite a mess for him to repair. After healing for 4-5 months, it became clear that my body was not cooperating. Despite working hard in physical therapy, I had developed a significant amount of scar tissue in my shoulder. On top of that, I also developed abnormal scar tissue bands over my bicep. After 20 years of surgeries, my body had decided to fight the process. To address the extensive scar tissue that had nearly stopped all forward momentum in physical therapy, Dr. Elrashidy recommended a full shoulder manipulation to break up and remove the scar tissue that was preventing me from regaining movement. Five and a half months after the first surgery, we went back in and did it again. He had a lot to deal with, and almost immediately, I gained additional range of motion. I am now eight months post-op from the second surgery and still only about 50% recovered, but we continue working with physical therapy 2-3 days per week. Dr. Elrashidy stays in constant communication with me and consistently follows up on my progress. If I had to do it all over again, I would absolutely choose Dr. Elrashidy again. I trust him so much that I even sent one of our best friends to him to repair her ACL injury. If you need help with a complex orthopedic problem--especially if your situation is complicated like mine--Dr. Elrashidy is the best choice you can make. Where to even begin! Long story short, I tore my meniscus while learning how to snowboard.. Lucky me, right?! Dr. Hany Elrashidy took such great care of me. I was so nervous as this was my first injury/ surgery.. I wish I had seen the one star reviews before Dr Elrashidy did the surgery on my broken leg. I've had a similar negative experience. I fell on my Knee on concrete from a height of about 3 ft and broke a piece of bone off of the tibial plateau, fractured the tibia and tore the meniscus. Upon intake, Dr Elrashidy said he could fix it and it would probably be back to 100%, then he said, well 95%. That would have been great, but instead, it looks like I'm now stuck with chronic pain for life. It will be three years at the end of December and I still have pain in my knee and the back of my knee and calf due to nerve damage done during the surgery. My whole body is out of alignment now and I think this will effect the quality of my life forever. During the first 1.5 years, I told Dr Elrashidy several times about the pain and he would tell me to look at the xray to see what an excellent job he had done. Then the pandemic hit, and I didn't see him again as he expressed no interest in dealing with the reality of the results. I've seen four different Physical Therapists, tried yoga and pilates (which I used to be good at and can no longer do without pain), I've seen a massage therapist and a dr of Naprapathy out of pocket without positive results. I had shoulder RC surgery on my right side. Dr Elrashidy did an excellent job. I had this same surgery to my left side three years ago w Kaiser and it was a horrible experience. Throughout my year of you being my doctor I asked repetitively for a MRI scan to check the integrity of your surgery and you never did it. Instead you assured me everything was going great and according to plan. You ignored my request and in that time my leg has gotten worse. I trusted you as my doctor. I have to have the same surgery again which will have me of my leg for another 8 months. I had a slightly torn rotator cuff for about 7 years. After tearing my bicep tendon I decided to have it fixed so I could continue to play tennis without so much pain. My shoulder is BETTER THAN 100%! He shaved a little on the inside of the shoulder and I have more rotation than ever. If you are active in sports he is the guy to go to. I could have not asked for a better experience at Webster Orthopedics with Dr. Elrashidy today. The entire staff was fantastic from the time I walked in and when I left. I was a new patient, completed paperwork on line before visit which saves time. I had xray taken, long conversation with Dr. Elrashidy and a cortisone shot. I was out of the office in under 90 minutes. We handled my problem talked about future needs. According to Yelp I should have had an awful experience, all the way around. I had scheduled an appointment for Dr Elrashidy specifically, and waited over 4 weeks to make sure I see him, although a sooner appointment was available with his physician assistant. When I go in during my scheduled appointment, I was seen by his physician assistant instead of the doctor himself. He never bothered to even show up, and likely may not have even reviewed my condition. Very dissatisfied with this experience. No physical exam was done. All of the diagnosis was done through a bunch of x-ray and verbal description of the pain. I am not so sure if I am good at giving history. Also, I feel a generalist would have done what was done during my visit; did I even have to wait 4 weeks to see a specialist. Just sad how this went. Dr Hany Elrashidy After enduring knee pain that 9 months of physical therapy treatments could not completely cure, I feel very fortunate to have been referred to Dr Elrashidy for help. He immediately ordered an MRI and determined that my stubborn knee pain was from a torn meniscus. He explained the physiology of the problem and why arthroscopic surgery was the best option. I was very hesitant to go through with it, especially during the pandemic, but Dr. Elrashidy walked me through the entire process, patiently answered all of my questions, and allayed my fears. He assured me that I would be in good hands. The surgery went well and I'm very satisfied with the results thus far. The advice Dr. Elrashidy has been giving me during my follow-up appointments is very helpful along with the post-op physical therapy he has prescribed. I was scheduled to have knee surgery. I was told I could have it done on Dec 16th and at the last minute after I changed all my vacation flights that I had during the holidays, they told me they had to move me to the 20th, they called to tell me that I needed a specific lab done. I got the lab done and they called me in the morning and said that the surgery was going to be held but I needed to wait for the anesthesiologist to call me about the results. At 2 PM on the day of the 20th, I did not receive a call so I called the surgery center and they said for me to come in. I drove and hour to the surgery center waited for two hours for the anesthesiologist to tell me that he couldn't do my surgery because of the labs. This is the first time in my life that my deductible has close to being paid off, which is the was the reason I wanted to get my surgery done in the first place. Once my Corazon wears off in my knee my knee is going to be hurting and I won't be able to work out or go upstairs or downstairs. So that means next year I'll have to pay full price. The colossal error of patient care is off the charts here. It's next to impossible to get through to the person that manages surgeries so I guess the new golden gate orthopedics takeover is the worst thing that could ever happen. I was told that the doctors were scheduled and only had 15 minutes within each patient and that's why no one called me. Nice. read more

I recently broke my toe and ER had to reset it. ER also thought I would need surgery, so I had to find an orthopedic doctor. I did so much research. I admit to being a bit OCD with research and with MEDICAL- DUE TO BAD EXPERIENCES. I was blown away with this whole place. The staff, the efficiency, taking X-Rays right there...getting me copies at no charge... BUT DR. ELRASHIDY is in a league of his own. I DO SEE that my 5-Star-Review WILL NOT BE UNIQUE. I ALSO "get" why. HE IS A 5-STAR DR! He was compassionate, knew his field, had answers to all questions I was asking & went out if his way to ENSURE that I was happy, comfortable, safe, and that he was naming a plan for healing. He infused necessary LEADERSHIP -so that I could let go of the unnecessary ANXIETY. NO SURGERY NEEDED. I can not explain how stupid it feels to break a toe(s)...but nonetheless -it hurts, it matters, and the healing will determine my quality of life...forever! Note: this is a pre-Covid experience. Dr E was certainly attentive and thing seems to go well initially. But then our conversation took a turn when I casually mentioned I was looking for a dentist. He then spent the rest of the appointment speaking about his wife and how I should see her as she is a dentist. He gave me a prescription for pain and I took one dose and got violently ill. I called many times over three days asking if they had something less strong. No one called me back so I spoke to a manager. I then got a call from my pharmacy that a prescription was ready. No one called me back to talk about my experience with the medication so how can they just prescribe something else? I just took Advil and iced my knee. I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE!!! read more

I went to see Dr. El Rashidy after rupturing my bicep tendon. He was able to get me scheduled for an MRI and in surgery within 5 days. I am now 6 weeks post op and have had terrific results. I was able to get the sling off within 3 weeks and am able to do some light lifting. I am actually about 3-4 weeks ahead of schedule and I credit this to the surgery that Dr. El Rashidy performed. I would very highly recommend seeing Dr. El Rashidy (If I could give him more stars, I would). He was very thorough and took the time to explain things to me in detail. Dr. Elrashidy is extremely compassionate, and patient. I had a bit of an urgent and sensitive issue. He listened to my concerns and fears and offered me multiple resolutions with full explanations (in vocabulary I could understand) which helped relieve a lot of my anxiety. I had a labrum tear and did not go with the Cortizone injection that another doctor had recommended from another practice. I researched the PRP injection and went for it. Dr. Elrashidy is amazing and I am back running. I believe the science is still new when it comes to PRP injections but I am glad I did it. I can see why people leave 5 star reviews for Dr. Elrashidy - when you first meet him he makes you feel like everything is going to be great and he will take a good care of you. I had the same feeling when I first met him. But believe the 1 star reviews because they are the true stories. I had a skiing accident now almost five years ago. I tore my ACL. Unfortunately, I didn't do the surgery right away. 2.5 years later after I had a baby I did ACL and a meniscal repair with Dr. Elrashidy. He assured me that I will feel 100% after recovery. 6 months after surgery I was still in pain. It was better than before surgery but I couldn't last through my 8 hour shift at work without being hurt and I was still limping. I addressed all of those concerns with doctor's NP (or PA, I cannot remember now). I guess after surgeries he doesn't feel the need to follow up with his patients himself. They again sent me for another round of PT ( which I have been doing nonstop after the surgery) and said it will get better. Then the pandemic started and elective surgeries were put on hold. Suddenly, his office reached out to me to see how I was doing. Dr. Elrashidy himself did a Zoom meeting (I guess since elective surgeries were put on hold they needed to bring money in somehow someway). I again addressed that i was still not 100% and still sore and achy. He said someone from his office will reach out to me to give me more information on some sort of a program/app that supposed to help me. No one reached out. Soon after I found out I was pregnant again, so the knee kind of became a second priority for me at that time. Fast forward to 2.5 years after the surgery. On top of my chronic pain, I started feeling sharp pain that wasn't there before. I went back to Webster Orthopedics. Dr. Elrashidy was skeptical when I said we should get an MRI and see what was going on with my knee. He didn't feel it was needed. I became upset and frustrated with the whole situation and he finally ordered one. Sure thing: MRI showed that my ACL graft was completely retorn and I still had meniscal tear! Seriously?! I wish I had asked for an MRI back when I was 6 months after surgery. Now, 2.5 years later I need EXACTLY THE SAME SURGERY ON THE SAME KNEE AGAIN! How frustrating is that. He was surprised with MRI results and said he doesn't think that is the case, as his assessment is "as important as the MRI" and based on "his assessment" my knee feel stable. Well, I believe MRI and I have pain. What else do you need from the patient? You have a symptom and a test result that says there is a tear but you don't believe that's the case because your assessment says otherwise?! Maybe you should listen to your patients not your ego. Oh, and he adds that I am "probably his first retear case in like 5 years." I am sorry for being that one case to ruin your good numbers. To add to this, at the end of the appointment (by this time I am pretty upset and all I can think about is how am I going to go through this again with two small children at home and not being able to walk 2-3 weeks) he is showing me a video of how they celebrated his daughter's 2nd birthday. Do I care? How unprofessional and inconsidered is that. I am your patient, not your friend. Bottom line: I do not recommend this doctor. He will make you feel like he is going to take good care of you and show you how great of a job he has done. But he doesn't listen to your concerns as his ego screams much louder. He is nice when you support his stats, his good numbers, if you happen to be anything other than that, well, you are on your own. Now, I have a surgery scheduled for next month with a different doctor. And my advice to you is to find someone else. read more

Sadly - my husband's experience with Dr. Elrashidy was not good. He went to him for surgery for a torn meniscus about 2 years ago. Following that surgery - his pain never improved, so Dr. Elrashidy gave him gel injections on 3 separate occasions - at 6-month intervals; and stated that a knee replacement would be the next step. Out of frustration - he went to a different, and highly recommended, orthopedic surgeon today who immediately sent me for an MRI, and found a remaining large complex tear of the body of the medial meniscus. This was never addressed by Dr. Elrashidy. Now - 2 years later, he will need a 2nd surgery to rectify these overlooked critical issues. read more

I'm about 3 weeks behind in writing this, but I tore my hamstring last May and I wanted to thank Dr. Elrashidy for performing an amazing hamstring repair on me. Just so people know, I ripped the conjoined tendon of the 3 hamstring muscles off of my ischial tuberosity. This is not a fun rehab, but not only has it healed well, but I am running again, which is something I wasn't able to do before the surgery due to back issues. He basically fixed 2 things at once. Actually, I think my right leg is now stronger than my non-surgical leg. If you are considering a surgeon he's your guy. I injured my knee and the ER said it was a bad sprain. Three weeks of knee immobilizer, crutches, canes, knee braces and pain. I thought it was more than a sprain. I reviewed Dr. Elrashidy and made an appointment. They got me the next day. Everything was great! He is professional, pleasant, personable and clear about what's going on. He told me he thought I had a meniscus tear and that an MRI would confirm it. I got that done a few days later and say him two days after that. YUP! He was right! He explained that surgery was the only remedy for my issue. I am active and had been miserable in my present painful, limited condition so I scheduled the surgery. He explained everything in my pre-op and I was good to go. Surgery experience was great! I walked out without any assistive devices. I never needed them. I had no need for pain medication because there was none. A little swelling buy nothing like the original injury. I am super excited about my mobility and living pain free! Best shoulder surgeon EVER! Super fast recovery and virtually no pain post operation. He gave me a nerve block that lasted for 2 1/2 days and I actually drove home(3 hours away) the very next morning. Dr. Elrashidy is the BEST! I took my mom to see him, she was having knee pain going up and down stairs. We both loved him! He is kind and caring, you can tell he has a passion for what he does. My mom has had her fair share of doctors with awful bedside manner that just run out of the room and dismiss you, however Dr. Elrashidy spent so much time with us and answered all the questions we had. He gave my mom two cortisone injections in her knees and she didn't feel a thing! (by the way she hates needles too). He also gave her a prescription for physical therapy and her knees are feeling so much better, I couldn't believe it. She now has no problem going up and down the stairs with ease.
