I came in today for an ortho consult, even the front desk person admitted its not the docs specialty but they could see what she could do and I could have a consult. Since I only needed a retainer and they were close by I came to see for myself. Turns out she was not comfortable in what I was asking and charged 6x what others are without even looking in my mouth besides having me smile briefly, rest of time consisted of a tour of the office (bathroom, coffee, etc) and the dog gave me an over priced quote which should never happened over the phone then I was charged $80 for a consult which I wasn't made aware of until I left. when I questioned this, the front desk person had Christine come out and I expected to hear from her that maybe they are sorry but that's their policy etc.. but instead she raised her voice and was condescending and kept encroaching on my personal space despite me backing up repeatedly and letting her know she made me feel uncomfortable. She got mad and said you wouldn't go to Meijer and leave without paying for milk. She was clearly being hostile so I complements disengaged and said I was uncomfortable and would pay I just want to leave. Despite not arguing with her, she kept getting closer and closer in my face and i kept backing up and repeating myself after I paid about how uncomfortable she was making me and that I was ready to leave. I cannot imagine any worse treatment, do yourself a favor and find a professional that will be up front on their pricing and better yet that will offer complimentary consultations to ensure you're a good fit and definitely stay away if you don't enjoy being disrespected. Regarding your reply doctor Tenaglia, I cash guarantee your office did not inform me of the cost, please check your records. And as I'm new in town I checked with my former orthodontist and others in the area and they were shocked at what you did, completely unprofessional and disrespectful. And please do tell how it helped to get in my face and raise your voice about not going to Meijer without paying for milk when I was allowed you and your office nothing but respect.     If you are looking for a dental health provider that purposely obfuscates services and costs, does…read morenot follow through on what they say, and offers the added sensory experience of audibly hearing the hygienist fart while cleaning your teeth, then Aspen Dental - Okemos may be the practice for you. They also provide free live entertainment in the lobby, where staff publicly argue with every single frustrated patient about how services and costs were "miscommunicated." It's a little bit like dinner theater, but with dental anxiety. You will be pressured into unnecessary services, while items are rapidly added to and removed from your bill like a shell game. Privacy is optional, as treatment plans and financial details are discussed openly, out loud, in front of everyone. They enthusiastically push services your insurance won't cover and that you don't need, and your total bill can swing hundreds to thousands of dollars with no clear or timely explanation. Personally, I was quoted a multitude of different costs across the same visits, sent a request to pay more than I owed, and was told I "wasn't allowed to leave without paying" despite no one being able (or willing) to provide an itemized ledger. After endless back-and-forth with multiple receptionists and the manager, I still do not have a clear breakdown of current charges and am waiting for them to get back to me. If you enjoy confusion, pressure, public financial discussions, and surprise pricing, all with the comforting background noises of the human body, this is absolutely the place for you. Otherwise, I'd recommend literally anywhere else.

After this I spoke with Micheal Anderson manager for office was very rude as a manager you are to de-escalate the issue he indeed did not instead he was very rude told me he's not my parent and that he's not there to call to inform me that I had an appt or that it was canceled. When asked for upper management phone number i was told they don't have one and just an email. the email that Anderson gave me was incorrect. As a manager that's disgusting to speak to someone like that. I refuse to be seen again by them and will be reaching out to someone higher. As a representative our job is to help explain and apologize and de-escalate the situation for a manager u have more responsibility and obviously Anderson can't do his job correctly and should be pulled from manager position. Yes Anderson you I hope you read this review I'm going to be contacting higher than management and will make sure something is done for the way I was talked to today. Care quality is so unprofessional disgusting the way they speak.

I rightly figured one very satisfied person and one disgruntled person left reviews. I find it interesting that a person from .Jackson drove to Okemos for dental care when there are several five-star dentists in Jackson. Then he said he "... had two other dentists review my x-rays prior to seeing this dentist, and both said it was likely due to the dentist's work that I needed a root canal." Something doesn't smell right here. If I was looking for a dentist I would disregard the one-star review ditzing this dental practice. I gave them five stars to offset the ridiculous review.

The experience was absolutely grueling; the hygenist was pulling so hard at the corner of my mouth with the suction that I had a cut on the inside of my mouth afterward and Dr. Davis struggled to get the remaining filling out of my tooth. It was incredibly painful, and resulted in the need for a root canal. I had two other dentists review my x-rays prior to seeing this dentist, and both said it was likely due to the dentist's work that I needed a root canal. I've been a good and patient patient, not fearful of dentists, for many years, but I now am very nervous about dentistry due to my experience at Parkway.
