The head dentist is a fine practitioner and he does a good job in the rare event you can see him. However, I give the business one star due to absolutely terrible wait times for general appointments (in excess of six months), and the demeanor of the staff. I will note that this office is in Penfield, NY, not the "City of Rocheter". I understand that they take lower levels of insurance but the operation of the business is antithetical to just about any sort of professional operation I have known in the area. Being a patient at this office is an experience in line with visiting the department of social services and dealing with somebody very forceful. I mean that both in the way they will try to force you into services you may not want or need and in the brute physical sense. The hygienists I have seen all struck me as completely rude and abusive. After visiting the office it is very clear that they DO NOT CARE about YOU AT ALL. If you need your teeth serviced they will do it and run the check as high as they can. Depending on the interface you may leave feeling like you left a welfare interview. You will step out of the doors to look at Pefield Road.

Their answer - YOU call every day and see if there is an opening. I paid via credit card at the end of each appointment. Yet a week later I would get a bill in the mail. Again - had to call in to fix issue. Had a problem during NY lock down. Talk to my dentist, said I would be on the short list when they opened again. Had to call again (they never call me...) in early June. Pain was a 7/10 at this point. Their answer? They can book me at the end of July. 4 dentists over 2 offices and they couldn't fit me in. Called another dentist in Penfield. Got in next day. Day after that had work done to fix the problem. Very disappointed in Unity Dental. Would definitely NOT recommend them...

When told of my problem, he ordered a prescription for me at my local Pharmacy. They got me in on Tuesday for a check-up. He sent me to an Oral Surgeon for an abscess and infection. No messing around... he knew what I needed and got me the care I needed. He didn't waste my time with lectures on dental care that I could have used, Knew what I needed and made it happen. Oh yea, they made the appointment for me the same day. Wish I had taken better of my teeth as a kid, If you didn't contact Lucia Family Dentistry (They will help)

The hygienists and technicians are friendly and knowledgeable, the office staff is amazing, and Dr Lucia himself is kind and accommodating. I now bring my 87 year old Mother to this office for dental cleanings, and though she doesn't necessarily look forward to sitting in the chair (who does?), she does look forward to seeing the staff. In addition to the office being so welcoming, the work that has been done in my own mouth (cleanings, fillings, crowns) has been exceptional, as evidenced by my Periodontist's remarks on how meticulous they are. I absolutely recommend Lucia Family Dentistry to anyone looking for a new dental office. I wish I had found them sooner!

They have a two step water process that is spa like and for the first time ever, I actually see a difference in my teeth (see attached pic, no edits.) Using her words they tried to scare her into getting her bridgework fixed that a previous dentist said actually looked great and did not need anything. Personally, I've never had a problem with this dentist. Their staff has always been friendly. The only "bad" experience I can say I had is the one time they tried to persuade me into getting a guard for teeth grinding. It wasn't covered under my insurance at the time and I decided to pass on it. They weren't pushy or anything, but I do feel the recommendation was not fully honest because a) I don't see grind marks on my teeth like they say are there and b) I don't experience headaches or issues with my teeth. I have some receding gums due to genetics that does not cause me issues due to using sensitive toothpaste and soft toothbrushes. I will be looking for a new dentist based on my mother's experience. Dentists should not try to scare their patients into getting unneccessary work done.
