I've been having this nasal congestion problem for years, cause is unknown. When it gets worse, both nostrils would be congested/blocked, and headaches. Regularly, I would have runny nose in the morning, mucus build up and can't smell well. Doctor recommended a seven day consecutive sinus treatment. I was so desperate to get it fixed, decided to take an immediate appointment available. March 26th was the first treatment. The next morning, the first thing I noticed, my face opened up some. After I had my daughter, I went to Shyla Mathew for 21 sessions of Ayurvedic massage. I can't even begin to describe how therapeutic the massages were both physically and mentally. She was concerned about my overall well-being and went out of her way to make me feel comfortable. She focused on all my problem areas. I'm happy to say that the low back and hip discomfort I felt in late pregnancy and after delivery were resolved after my sessions. Decompressing like that helped me relax, sleep better, and helped with the early transition of having a baby. Dr. Mathew and her husband (who handles the scheduling) treated me more like family than just a regular customer. I did not feel pressured in any way, and was encouraged to follow up with my medical doctor as well. They were incredibly accommodating when it came to making appointments. This was my first time having this type of massage and i loved everything about it. Dr. Matthews was very accommodating to my needs and comfort during the massage. I first went in here to inquire about their services and to gage whether something can be done about some health issues I have. Upon my first visit I had a consultation which was very pleasant. Dr. Mathew has a very calm and comforting demeanor. She was able to assess other health issues I have which I had not even mentioned. This alone made me have confidence in her and feel at ease that I was in the hands of someone with great knowledge as well as experience. She recommended a specific treatment plan for me and noted that Ayurveda can be a slow process but an effective one. I was familiar with this from my past experience with ayurvedic medicine. I must say that I was not sure what to fully expect for my first treatment but Dr. Mathew took excellent care of what needed attention. A combination of oils and herbal medicine is used during a treatment. She has a quiet determination which is evident through the therapeutic massage techniques. For a few years I had a problem area in my back which was only mildly relieved when I would go for an occasional massage. After my fourth treatment here, I can honestly say that I no longer suffer with that problem area. I cannot remember the last time my back felt normal and without any kind of pressure or pain! I have gone for several treatments thus far and plan to have more.
