There isn't a large seating area (only a few tables) but I just popped in to get a few treats to take home. After I had taken plenty of photos (it just had to be done) I finally settled on a peanut butter & white chocolate brownie pretty sure it was a brownie) and a slice of Persian Tea loaf. My excitement levels went through the roof because anyone who knows me knows how much I love tea (I have over 200 different blends). My cakes were boxed up in a brown box and sealed with a Honeybee Bakery sticker. Service with a smile and tea loaf...I left in a rather good mood indeed! The tea loaf was £2.25 a slice and I found it to be really good value for money considering the portion I got. It was moist (even though I hate that word) and melt in the mouth stuff. Definitely going back for more sometime soon because it was that tasty. Highly recommended. My peanut butter and white chocolate cake was nice, but I'm not sure the combination was for me. Although I did finish it, it's not something I would purchase again but that's purely down to my personal taste. Staff were lovely and all of the cakes looked so fresh and inviting. They also sell some amazing looking meringues which I'm going to have to try soon! Highly recommended!

This is essential preventive maintenance to avoid being sucked in by the goodies on display in the window. Today I forgot the protective ritual, and before I knew it I was standing in the queue behind a lady with a pram, salivating like a dog over all the yummy stuff on display (metaphorically speaking of course - what kind of a slob do you think I am?) Veggie sausage rolls, slices of pizza, flapjacks, tarts, gluten-free cakes, flower-pot bread... (wait, what was that last one again?) - for such a small place they produce a fabulous range of tasty treats to tickle your taste buds. There's no coffee and no seating, but they are, after all a BAKERY, people! Not a coffee house. If you want somewhere to sit, cross the road and sit in Mansfield Park, or on one of the outdoor exercise machines as I saw a lady doing as she scoffed her cake - perhaps the mere presence of the machine was counterbalancing the calorific consumption in her head? Great bakery, and a fantastic addition to the Hyndland Street bohemiana.

I come in here just about every time I am strolling through the neighborhood. The bakers are very friendly! Be aware of the limited hours if you are checking-out MHB for the first time. My favourite savory treats are the tomato basil slice and you can't go wrong with any of the rolls. I even like the vegetarian lentil roll, and I'm as carnivorous as people get! I'm sure many of the other items are good too; I just haven't tried them because I get hung up on the delicious things I have already eaten! Onto the important stuff: CAKES and PASTRIES! I love their chocolate volcanoes! I have a new found love for My Home Bakery's lemon-cranberry cake. You also can't go wrong with the almond-crusted strawberry bakewell. My favorite fruity item is the raspberry crumble dowsed in powdered sugar. And if you can't decide, you may need to order a 'party box' to figure it out (see photos). If I am there in the morning the cinnamon brioches are hard to pass up! I got my friend Jeevan hooked on them too! Long story short, there is a reason why the front door says, "diets end here!"

I first met Rachel at the BBC Good Food Show, where she showed me how to pipe icing properly. When I heard she was opening up, I couldn't have been more excited. Even more so when I found out just how close it was to me. (So much so I have been for the past 2 Saturdays and am most likely going twice this weekend...) This is a bakery, selling cake, cupcakes, tray bakes, teas, coffees and soft drinks. There are a variety of gluten free options available. The bakery is through the back, so the place smells of cake permanently. I've sampled both the red velvet and salted caramel cupcakes. The red velvet was gorgeous, although I loved the salted caramel cupcake more. The centre was filled with ooey gooey caramel. The tea was better than the coffee, coming in individual gorgeous glass teapots. A cup of earl grey is the perfect accompaniment to a piece of cake. I love the quirky antique sets that everything gets served in. Rachel also does custom cakes and cupcakes for all occasions, ranging from weddings, birthdays to graduations. The bakery accepts cash and cards. No outdoor seating (yet!)

I'd been…read moreexperimenting with making sourdough for a while, and when I say experimenting, I mean mostly getting it wrong. I had read lots and lots of conflicting information on the intranet, as you do, and my wee head was all confused. But happily, all my questions were answered at the workshop and I can now go forth and make baked natural bread goodies safe in the knowledge that firstly, I'm not going to poison myself with bad mould, and secondly, my loaves will rise. Oh and thirdly, the results are delicious! The Two Mamas delivered the workshop in a friendly, informal style, but came across as real experts. They took us through making a basic loaf step by step, and baked a loaf while we were there of what our end result should look and taste like. They'd also brought with them a basket of baked treats - delicious rolled sweet breads with jam, chocolate, fruit - really inspirational ideas of what we could bake. We were given a starter of our very own to take home, and it's a really strong one. Mine had bubbled over in it's wee jar by the next day, so I fed it and put it in a bigger jar, and it bubbled over that too - a great sign that it's ready to go and make amazing bread. Along with our take home starter, we were also given a lovely pack with a nice bag, a wooden spoon, and a very useful instruction booklet, as well as the tub of dough that we'd prepared that we were to bake the next day. And it worked perfectly - I was so delighted with my perfect loaf! The Two Mamas mentioned some future workshops they have planned - pizza bases and breadsticks, focaccia and such like. I cannot wait - I think I will be at every single one. I would highly recommend a course with the Two Mamas if you want to learn about natural bread making, and it would also make a lovely gift.

Glaswegians, your cafes have definitely spoiled me and I can't find anything that compares to this in the U.S. When you walk in, you automatically get this cozy and warm feeling. Try to get a seat in the upstairs dining area, because this is where you will feel the most warmth. I also like sitting in the bar stools by the window because I like looking outside at the rain. If you find yourself waiting for a table, just take that time to browse the pastries, savory foods laid out, and even their selection of cookbooks. Their selection of cake and tarts change daily, but if they have leftovers one day then they serve the leftovers the next day until they are gone, but a lot of the time their pastries sell out on the first day. Bonus to this is that your pastries are definitely fresh! But the pastries still taste good even if they are a day old. Trust me. My go-to pastries were the Belgian Chocolate Cake or the vanilla custard tarts. This cake has hazelnuts inside of it and is served with raspberries, chocolate bits, dusted with sugar on top. If you love chocolate, this cake is the way to go. The vanilla custard tarts reminded me of home (because I would get Egg Tarts at Chinese bakeries and this vanilla custard tart tasted just like a egg tart) The only difference is that the tart at Kember & Jones had flaky layers of crust, which made the tart even better. My go-to drinks are hot chocolate or the Moroccan Fresh Mint Tea. The hot chocolate is served with foam and little chocolate bits on top. The Mint tea is served in a clear glass, but it comes hot (which was weird because I didn't think you would serve hot drinks in a glass) but I understood why because it has a bunch of mint leaves in it that changes the color of the drink to a light tan. It's cute and if you have a sore throat, it will make you feel better. Other things that I have tried and loved were the Warm Waffle (because it was served with syrup and fresh fruit), the French Lemonade (It was pink lemonade with a little bit of sourness), and the macarons (They make different ones each week. Try all of them because they go fast! I have to say during Christmas time their Christmas pudding one tastes pretty good, too.) Last thing to note is that the staff is very nice. I never really feel pushed to leave. They are polite and attentive.
