They are desperately trying to make Motherwell modern, and so this isn't just a bakers, it's a patisserie. It is essentially the exact same as it used to be when I was a kid, except the chairs are tall and chrome and everything is slick and modern. The cakes are sooo good, we actually boast a lot of amazing cake shops in Motherwell, and this is no exception. They can be a bit pricey, but gorgeous and a real treat. The sausage rolls are yummy, if a little greasy, but you're kidding yourself if you think they would ever be healthy! The shop itself can seat a couple of tables of people. I am yet to sit in, but will do so one day for sure, as they sell Spanish hot chocolate that smells awesome. They have trays of different cakes every day. We sampled some marshmallow cupcakes, which, I have to say, are sweet beyond description, but bloody fabulous. You could easily share one between two and be satisfied (although I didn't, and was satisfied moreso). I just love everything about the place. I had no time to bake for visitors coming around today so I just went up and bought a box of 9 mini cupcakes, bite sized sponge topped with a peak of butter cream icing dyed vibrant shades of turquoise and pink, sprinkled with iridescent glitter. Gorgeous, cute as buttons, and went down a treat with the guests. The cupcakes are around £2.25 and the mini ones can be bought for £7.50 for a box of 9. Pricey perhaps, but in my opinion, you can never put a price on a good cake.
