I've been playing golf for 60 years. I played college golf and a lot of amateur golf and qualified for a lot of section PGA events as an amateur. I've been invited to a couple of national events. I qualified and played in a U.S amateur at the age of 45. That said, I don't consider myself an elite amateur player by any stretch .I can honestly say that Greg Rogers is easily quite possibly one of the best teachers in the country. His knowledge of how the body works is unsurpassed. A lot of my friends are PGA pros and whenever I've asked them for help with my swing they tell me the same things I've heard before. I have been learning golf for a while, but when I played 18 holes of golf last Summer, it was the most miserable experience of my life. I realized golf and I were going to go one of two ways. I purchased new irons and shafts and scheduled a club fitting session with these guys. They charged $75 and wasn't worth it in the least. Also paid for them a lot more to put the heads on my shafts. They rushed me out of there after 5 minutes of hitting a few balls. They had a simulator but didn't actually use any numbers to fit me properly. Just eyeballed me hitting a few balls and said "ok we are good." No measurements. No swing speed measurements or ball speed. Would be like going to a tailor to get custom fit for a suit and they don't actually measure you...just look at you and throw you a random suit. I don't know if I got a bad employee or what. I am a 7 handicap so know it's not just me not hitting balls the right way. I am not sure how they are for lessons. Think it is a crapshoot there. Some instructors that are much better than others. Reminds me of going to a barber shop and half the barbers are good and the other half you wouldn't let touch your hair with a 10-foot pole. Nice facility though in a good location in Bellevue. I wanted to give my business to a small, locally owned business and regret it. Know if I got fitted at Puetz or Pro Golf Discount I would of been better serviced. Know they use actual science and facts in their simulators. Not just guessing by some random dude I would probably destroy on the golf course. For fitting...do not go to these guys. For lessons they might be pretty good I am not sure. If you want to buy gear they are on the more expensive side. Was like wahhhh wahhhhhh (sad trumpet sound) going to them. This is the place where you want to get your fitting and coaching done. Great work with James so far. James is extremely knowledgeable and can answer any questions regarding to the golf. Trust me he really can. James will not only give you the drills to improve your lesson but also try his best to explain the physical situation behind the drill. That's huge to me which can let me have a deeper understanding of this sport. Like only take 5 minutes he can help me boost 30 yards on my driver... 240 to 270 and James keeps telling me 300 is coming up soon... Let me start by saying the facilities are fantastic. Now that the positives are out of the way, I'll be brutally honestly and say I'm never going back to this place. I got fit for a set of irons, a 5 wood and a driver. I started playing 4 years ago, was playing a set of Cobra irons, driver and woods as a starter set and I've finally gotten good enough to get fit for a good set of clubs. So I set up an iron fitting and then a subsequent driver/wood fitting. I walked in and started warming up. I hit 3 heads, 2 shafts and was fit into a set of P790s by Steve there. He sounded very knowledgeable, even if he was a bit of short in his communication and seemed a little annoyed I was even there to be honest, but I figured that was his style. I went back for the driver and had the same experience. I walked out feeling like I at least got fit into something that would make my game better, even if the experience wasn't great. Fast forward 6 months and I went to a local fitter in the Bellevue area for gap testing my wedges and the experience was vastly different. It was personable, the fitter seemed knowledgeable, interested and invested in actually getting me into the right set. Looking back on my time at Gregg Rogers, I almost feel that Steve just wanted to get me into something, get me to drop 2,500 bucks on a new set and then send me on my way. Therefore, I'd never go back to Gregg ever again. And I'd recommend you look elsewhere for your fitting. read more

I've been taking lesson at Gregg Rogers' Golf Performance since the beginning of January (about 3 months) with my instructor, Jamie White. The facilities are very nice with modern technology for swing and ball striking evaluation, equipment sales and golf merchandise. I've been playing golf for 35+ years and, like so many novice golfers, have always been able to hit some good shots on occasion during each round. But consistency was my Achilles heal. I'd hit a great drive, then butcher my second shot, or vice versa. I took lessons when I was in my 20's and I recall the instructor changing so much about my swing, grip, stance, etc. that I could hardly hit the ball. So I've been reluctant to try again. But I can report unequivocally that I'm happy I did. I really appreciate the methodical process Jamie has taken me through in developing nuanced changes to my game over time. I've got a much better understanding of swing mechanics and feel that I'll be able to more effectively self diagnose while on the course. I started out a perennial 18 - 20 handicap, but have already dropped to a 14 and will likely fall lower as old scores in the 90's drop off. I recently shot the first round of my life in the 70's...barely. My 79 at Snohomish was at least several strokes better than any round I've ever played. I went in for a fitting and ended up doing five lessons over six weeks with Jamie. If you're genuinely interested in recapturing or learning the fundamentals of a powerful golf swing, I can't recommend the experience enough -- just check your ego at the door because it's hard to feel like you don't know a thing about golf. He's a great teacher and the whole package of lessons was challenging. I ended up in some great clubs at the end for a competitive price and learned a ton and my game has improved dramatically as a competitive but casual player through high school and college. read more

Been trying to get new vokey wedges and everywhere I went j clouding the pga superstore in Vegas, all we got was a poor fitting experience that provided next to no feedback. I contact GRGP and talked to Donna and she was super sweet and helpful and gave me the run down. Made an appt and got a fitting with Gregg and I'll just say he blew my socks off! I've been golfing for about 7 years now and have taken single lessons here and there over the course of my golf life - I'd managed to get down to a 13hcp on my own, but never shot better than an 81 at any course. Using launch monitors, high frame cameras, and a simple, easily consumable approach, Jamie was able to help me better understand how to use my body in more efficient ways to generate more power and tune in a consistent swing. I've been taking lessons here with Gregg for over a year and a half and the experience has been transformative. It's uncanny how different my "self diagnosis" ends up from what we work on and the changes are leading to great tangible improvements. I really feel that every lesson is focused and has a purpose, and that all of the concepts are connected. The things that stand out for me: - Deliberate and methodical approach. We don't try to fix everything, the pace is strictly based on my ability to grove the changes that are needed. I'm always working on something but also always have a functional swing. -Technology is used as a tool. Yes there are trackman's, yes there is video, but we talk swing first, and only use the data to back up the lessons. - A great mix of the technical and the feel. The lessons are not about hitting positions, they're about getting on the proper plane/proper wrist motion, etc... There's always an emphasis on trying to get a feel that can be grooved so that it's something that can be worked on. There's no magic bullet in golf, my experience has been positive but it also has taken a lot of time outside lessons. One scam after the next with this place. 2 months I waited, they told me they had the clubs and would build from stock and they lied about that and didn't tell me for 2 months. Then told me it'd be another 2 months to get the clubs and I would have to pay for the shaft which I was told was stock but clearly wasn't and I knew that at the time but took their word for it. The staff I think tries to do a good job but is overworked, underpaid and unappreciated. The owners are complete jerks, the guy who fit me tells people he's vaccinated but found out from another employee he's not but they let this muscle guy walk around with no mask like his crap don't stink. My husband bought me a Groupon for Christmas for a lesson and I was finally able to use it. It was my first ever golf lesson after years of playing and I had a great experience. During the lesson, you're set up indoors with a projector screen you hit balls into. Thanks to some high tech programs and 2 cameras, they track a variety of stats including swing speed and distance. Mike was my instructor and I highly recommend him. He gave me a ton of very specific pointers that were easy adjustments to make and have made a big difference in my game already. I was hesitant to do a club fitting, I am not a great golfer. I did a lot of research before the fitting so I knew what to expect and what to look for. The facilities are top notch, but money can make that happen for anyone. The services I received are second to none. My fitter, Anthony, was incredibly patient and I didn't feel judged or pressured when I topped in into the corner of the screen. He explained what we were looking at as well as how they affected my game. At the conclusion, I didn't feel pressure and I happily ordered a set of irons adjusted specifically for my "unique" style of play. Pricing was incredibly fair and the time and communication they have given me personally do not come with a price tag and do not exist at a retail store. If you're trying to get better don't wait to get better by swinging bad stuff, get the right stuff and enjoy the process. Call them, you'll thank me later. read more

I purchased a lesson on groupon and thought I'd give it a try. My lesson was with Stephen Stombaugh. The reasoning for the three star was for my actual lesson and not the facilities. Stephen is a club fitter (build the clubs)/instructor. He was very knowledgeable using the trackman. My issue was that since I told him I used groupon, I didnt get a full effort from the instructor. After warming up, the first question was, what were my tendencies? Then the next question was, am I signing up for a package of lesson? After hitting some balls and going over the stats, he told me the only way to bring my spin rate down was to buy custom clubs. Not once in the 40 minutes did he change anything about my swing nor use any video. Finally at the end he told me to bend my knees more and reach out further. After reading other reviews, I expected adjustments, pointers, basic fundamental information, etc.. like the other reviewers received. I would try again using groupon but with another instructor. I just didn't like the aggressive sales tactic hence the three star. read more

Been working with Gregg on my swing for around 6 yrs now. Have reduced my GHIN from a 7-8 down to a 3-4. PNW golfers are lucky to have such a great resource locally available. I've worked with a lot of swing coaches in my 30+ yrs of golf,(some top rated instructors) and have to say Gregg is one of the best instructors in the country. Very personalized approach: he will work with YOUR swing and not try to force a specific methodology or canned swing doctrine (like GolfTEC or an inexperienced driving range pro) - very thoughtful teaching style born of tons of experience and analysis of swing concepts. He is highly rated by sticks and beginners equally, which is rare. Faculty & Technology: this is top notch! The new facility on 130th is sweet - going to be spending time when I can practicing there in the offseason. Elegant use of launch monitor, video, force plate, kinematics, and other tech to give you feedback, but not overwhelm you Club fitting quals: I am highly suspect of stock golf equipment - there is very little u can control in golf except ur equipment so why not pay a little more for a set that fits you! I've found that these guys know their sticks - they've put me into some sick club/shaft setups in driver and irons and the results have shown. their access to shafts, heads, etc rivals the best club fitters in town, & with a broader selection range. They need some dedicated staff clubmakers right now, but I know Gregg is looking to fill that gap. Net/net: if your idea of good instruction is a $50 a session driving range pro, you should book a lesson with Performance to see what u r missing. There may be good club pros out there, but none will have the combo of solid teaching skills, facility, technology that Gregg and staff have. My biggest complaint is that Gregg I always booked 2 months out - but I guess that's more validation. read more

I picked up a deal from Living Social for this place to give it a try. It's a nice new shop and I was immediately greeted by one of the guys in the front. I only had to wait about a minute before my teacher came out and set us up for the lesson. These guys know what they are doing and provide the lesson based upon your skill level. Mine being pretty low we started with the basics but they are definitely setup for whatever skill level someone might be. Daniel was my instructor and knew what he was doing. There was no pressure whatsoever to sell any new packages. Gave me minor tips to improve and it a huge difference. Though i shouldnt mess with my irons i plan to go there again soon. I bought a 30-minute lesson through Groupon. I have very little experience golfing besides the average amount of mini golf most people have played and the mediocre bucket of balls I have attempted to hit at the driving range. In 30 minutes Mathew was able to teach me grips, posture and other techniques to improve my form. It was crazy how much I improved in such a short period of time. I like that they record you so you can see your body movements reflected back to you - super helpful to see where your body placements were so you can make improvements immediately. Highly recommend this place as a beginner and I'm sure if you are more advanced, they'd do a great job with you as well. read more

I took my annual physical exam and all the numbers were fine but my doctor said that, at my age (68), I should learn some new things in order to maintain my intellectual acumen (what little I have). In addition to learning to play the piano, I decided to take up golf which I had always considered an enormous waste of time. But most of my friends play golf, and my wife and I go to many places on mini-and not-so-mini vacations where there are golf courses. Diabolically beckoning. While in Pinehurst, N.C. three months ago, I said, that's it. I'm in. I'm going to do the seemingly impossible: I'm going to waste more time. Another golf shop not far from Performance Golf was recommended to me. I walked in, walked around, was completely ignored, and walked out. I talked with someone at Bellevue Muni, went on the internet, checked out multiple options, and decided on Performance Golf because of 1) the complementary high tech teaching tools available (maybe every place has these but Performance Golf was the only one pushing them) and 2) Performance Golf is just down the street from Iron Works where I work out - going to a golf lesson would insure I'd get into the gym. I bought a pair of Foot Joys, went over to Performance Golf, instructor Erich was at the entrance to invite me in. We talked. I left. He figured he'd never see me again. I came back from a vacation a couple of weeks later and signed up for lessons. Erich knows golf, also knows a little about teaching, is very patient and seems to take a genuine interest in the development of this golf student. I asked him directly and he said that he loves what he does. It's been a good experience for me. I don't give out five stars or 10s. Nothing is ever perfect even without my involvement, while, by definition, if I am involved, imperfection is foreordained. So, with three stars being average, and five stars being perfect, I'm giving four stars. A better rating system would be 1 though 10. With 5 being average and 10 being perfect, I'd give my experience an 8 or 9 - not perfect but probably better than any of Performance Golf's competitors could do. read more

Just took a nine hole group lesson out at New Castle with Jamie White and two other women who are fairly new to the game. I have been taking lessons from Jamie for several months now and have seen major improvement in my swing and technique. Taking a lesson out on the course was a fantastic experience. Jamie was very patient, never hurried us and spent time with each of us focusing on our individual needs. It's such a different feeling out on the course versus being in the studio. Jamie was able to watch how we performed and make individual adjustments as we progressed through the course. We spent a lot of time on the greens learning how to read them, controlling our speed and where to land the ball on long putts. We also spent time learning how to read the entire hole, make smart decisions, and how to be confident within our abilities. All and all I would highly recommend this experience to those who are new to the game and also those who are experienced but need a tune up. On the day I went in to pick up the new clubs, Gregg watched a few swings and ended up inviting me back for a free mini-session to show me a few things to fix. Fast-forward a lesson series (which he put no pressure on me to sign up for), my understanding of my swing and what I need to be doing has been transformed. I met with Mark Roberts today as my instructor. First golf lesson I've ever had in my life. I'm a 63 year old female and I've been golfing for over 30 years. However, after my back fusion, I've been afraid to go all out. I've had a strange mental bad habit with my grip - the same bad habit I do playing tennis, pickle ball and racquetball - anything with a "grip". Mark watched my swing a few times, then mentioned to me where my right palm should be facing. WHAT?? No one, or ANYTHING I've EVER read has EVER said that. I faced my right palm to my target and my 30+ years of strange grip disappeared!! OMGOSH!! Then he video-taped me so I could see my swing for myself. My husband has been telling me for years that I bend my left knee and leg, but the stubborn woman I am I tell him to be quiet and NOT tell me what to do. BUT after seeing my swing for myself, I DO, amazingly, bend my left knee. Sorry for not listening to you, husband. Mark showed me how to transfer my weight for a better shot, and low and behold, I was hitting a LOT better by the end of my 45 minute lesson. Thank you so much, Mark Roberts!!!! I have been going to here for about 8+ years. Had lessons with Gregg and it helped so much. Plus you leave there with things to practice on your own because I'm a range rat. I just recently bought a 3 wood from there and the face of it broke and with out any questions they replaced it and actually fit me in a better club and the results have been excellent. The staff is always welcoming when I arrive to them taking my clubs from the facility to my car (not necessary but they do it). My son has now started with lessons with one of the teachers and he has been getting a ton of useful tips to take to the course. I will continue to support Gregg and his staff. read more
