We did both the engagement and wedding photoshoots with Greg and it was one of the best decisions we made. I'm typically not very comfortable being in front of the camera, but I felt relaxed and genuinely had fun. He scouted the venue and the surrounding area beforehand; he was detail-oriented; he gives you various helpful tips for framing the poses but never in a way we felt unauthentic; he was super focused for the entire duration of the wedding, looking for moments to capture. Greg was a consummate professional and was so friendly and easy to work with, I would highly recommend him to photograph any special occasion or family time, as I did last week. His photographs are beautiful, and he was able to capture so many special moments because of the ease he had with my entire family. We were a large group (12 of us) but he took the time to photograph each family and was very detail-oriented, noticing lint, bibs, or anything that would make a picture look "off." He was patient as we tried different groupings and poses and was open to suggestions of what might look good (which I loved!). In terms of the entire process it went flawlessly. I don't know where to start with this review, so maybe I'll start by saying that I got my family session photos back from Greg over a week ago and I still pore over the images every day because they make me so happy. We took the photos to use for our Christmas cards, and I wasn't expecting to have so many amazing pictures to choose from. For those just looking for a talented photographer to take beautiful photos of you, whether its for an engagement session, wedding, or family portrait, no need to read further. You can confidently book Greg. I promise your photos will turn out as beautiful as the highlights you see featured on his Instagram or blog. But I can't stop my review there because I appreciate this photographer so much and feel compelled to share how great he is in other ways. The reviewer below, Quinn, mentioned "good vibes" in describing Greg, and I can't disagree. I felt them from the minute Greg responded to my initial inquiry about a family session. I could tell he was a positive, genuine, and all around nice person, which is great, but nice is not enough. As strange as this may sound, "niceness" is the last thing that's on my mind when shopping for a photographer. What I really want to know is will they keep their word, and will I get good pictures in a reasonable amount of time? In our emails leading up to shoot day, Greg made a series of promises to me, and he kept each and every one. He promised one hour shoot time but more if needed, wardrobe changes if we wanted, that we would definitely shoot during golden hour since that was really important to me, a turnaround time of no longer than 10 days for family sessions, approximately 50 - 100 images, that he would deliver any images that are great without holding anything back, and that he would account for traffic and be on time. For me, the clincher was delivering ALL of the good photos. I know that photographers don't end up sending you every single shot they take, but I worry sometimes that they won't send me everything that's good. I'm the kind of client that wants ALL the good stuff because I want the ability to choose my favorite shot even among a series of similar shots. I appreciated that he recognized this as a concern for me without me having to spell it out for him. On an added note, Greg is thorough and timely in responding and I never got the sense he was annoyed by my questions. In fact, he encouraged me to ask them. One of my biggest pet peeves about vendors in general is when they answer your questions selectively. Fast forward to shoot day. I was anxious. I don't enjoy being in front of the camera, especially since I haven't lost all the baby weight. I was also worried that the outfits I picked out for my family wouldn't go together well. I was worried my makeup would look too harsh and the lashes too fake. I was also worried about the light that day. It was overcast and gloomy, which was a huge bummer because I've always wanted to take photos during magic hour and it's just never panned out. During my engagement shoot, I specifically asked the photographer to make sure we shot during magic hour and somehow we missed it. And on my wedding day, it rained... When we arrived, the sun magically started peeking out and blessed us with the most glorious light. As promised, Greg got there early despite a long drive from OC. In person he was just as friendly and nice as he had been in emails, and something about him put us all at ease and just trust him wholeheartedly. He gave us the direction we needed to get the good shots, and he's detail oriented enough to point out when my hair was in my face (not in a good way) or when my shirt tag was sticking out. At the same he also gave us space to just be, and he captured some of the best shots that way - by observing. I also liked that he was open to suggestions in terms of specific shots we wanted. He even pulled out images I had sent him as inspiration so that he could capture shots with a similar feel. It was endearing that he was excited about a few shots he had just taken enough to break the general rule not to show clients proofs on the spot. What I appreciated most is that Greg never made us feel rushed. We finished our session when the sun started to set and there was no more good light to chase, not when Greg's watch told him one hour was up. By the end, he felt like a friend and I was actually a little sad to say goodbye. Greg delivered our images sooner than in the 10 days he had promised, and I so in love with them! Edited in his signature dreamy, evocative style, each image is truly a gift. He captured the beauty of the light, the scenery, and our family's precious moments perfectly. After he delivered the images I reached out to ask a few questions, and he was as responsive and gracious as he's always been even though he truly owes me nothing at this point.
