We spent the night in a cabin at Greer Farm and had a wonderful time. We were the only guests on the farm that night. We brought our 11 year old granddaughter. The owner took us on a tour of all the livestock on the farm. We got to see baby calves nursing and all the beautiful cows. Next we saw the chickens. Our granddaughter got to hold a chicken, Something this city girl had never done! We saw sheep, horses, a peacock and some donkeys as well. Our cabin was clean and very cute. We were really given the V.P. treatment during our stay. Next May we are going back to the farm to pick some berries! read more

This farm exceeded our expectations!! We drove up and didn't know what to expect and we were immediately greeted by Brent and Aimee. Aimee drove us around the entire farm and our 10 year old son LOVED it! She shared so much farm knowledge about chickens, cows, bulls, donkey's, pigs, etc and how they all work together on a true farm. How much fun! We were staying at Daingerfield State Park, which we've done dozens of time, for the weekend. We had heard about Greer Farms but had never visited until this trip. It was a total delight. The blackberries and blueberries were at their peak. My wife and sister picked close to 15 pounds. When "checking out" and getting our berries weighed I also purchased some of Greer's homemade jams, organic beer and free-range eggs. This was truly "all-inclusive camping," and my 3 year old enjoyed her first camping experience! I liked that it was a short drive from Rockwall but felt like we were going out of town. The cabins are cute and far enough apart for privacy but close enough if you wanted to share the experience with other families. They provided pretty much everything: utensils, cooking gear, towels, etc. It rained for a few hours, so it was nice, albeit counterintuitive, to have access to cable and a DVD player. The grounds were pretty and fun to explore. My daughter liked watching the pigs & playing on the playground. The owners are laid back and friendly. You'll need to bring your own stuff for the grill & toiletries. I suggest getting there, taking stock of what you might need (dish soap, foil, paper towels, etc), and head to the Brookshire's. We had to get a few of those kinds of things on Day 2 but left what we bought for the next camper. Also, these are right by the pond/mini-lake: Make sure you have bug spray. We bought those mosquito bands & an OFF candle which worked nicely. Never took the bands off and only ended up with one or two bites. Check the sinks and other wet areas. There was a scorpion in our bathroom sink! Oh, and If you have a baby, make sure you bring the tub: There's only a shower for bathing. read more

Great berry picking and a great camping experience. The freshest, juiciest blackberries I can remember picking. The 4 log cabins are small but rustic and charming, with all the amenities you'll need for a few days away. Pick berries, gather eggs, feed the chickens, and enjoy the canoes and paddleboats on the private lake. Book early (cabins fill up in advance quickly), and bring the kids for the most relaxing weekend you've had in ages. read more

Greer Farm is a perfect vacation spot during a Pandemic. There's only 4 cabins. There's a limited number of people that can even share this spot. The lake is peaceful and fun to fish. I've seen goats and deer and interacted with some friendly horses in the next pasture. Our cabin is clean and quaint. The window unit keeps the temps cool while the outside is hot. Every window has a pleasant view of trees and countryside. Such a treat. And you are just miles away from Daingerfield park with lots of trails to hike for only $4 per person admittance. We haven't tried out the paddle boats or canoes but they are available without extra costs. This is a great spot for families with kids. read more

Great alternative to a traditional resort for a short getaway! The cabins are cute, rustic, clean and packed with amenities. Mr. and Mrs. Greer were very nice and accommodating. We bought fresh meat, eggs and jams to take home for a reasonable price from them. We also enjoyed feeding the animals and took advantage of the fire pit. We'll definitely return! read more

Over promise and under deliveries. Unfortunately, our group of 13 arrived the day before Thanksgiving. The owner Sid was out of town but left his worker in charge. The fee was several hundred dollars higher than agreed but I paid with the assurance when the owner got home on Friday we would resolve. Of course the owner never tried to resolve in person, never called, and never emailed. We were also promised that we could feed the animals each morning. They have a few cows, mules, zebra, dog, and cats. The ranch hand feed them hay and treats and our kids just watched. We did not get to feed the animals but rather watched the animals eat hay in an area that hadn't been cleaned for the longest time. We we assured we could do this each day but was only made available to us one day on our stay. The collection of eggs was fun and was a highlight of the trip. The cabins and lake are pretty and nice. Another family left a few hours into their trip because the facilities were not what they expected. We were surprised that the cabins were not cleaned and sheets washed after they left and the next group arrived. We had to only assume if theirs wasn't washed neither was ours. There are little to no fish in the lake. I watched 10 people fish this lake for hours and not one fish was harvested. We have stayed at other facilities in the area through-out the years and this was the worst experience and place we've went to. Will not return and will likely pursue compensation for charging our credit card more than authorized. read more

Great family-friendly getaway from the big city (Dallas). This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Greer Farm. The first time was one year ago in June as well. June is a great month to visit because the blueberries and blackberries are ripe for picking and very plentiful. It does get hot, though, so be sure to swim in the big lake. My four young kids (ages 3 through 8) had a blast swimming in the lake... running off of the wooden dock and jumping in at the end. Greer Farm provides complimentary use of paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, and a rowboat. Hours and days of fun! Bring sunscreen, bug spray, cold drinks, snacks, and s'more-roasting supplies. We built a campfire and roasted hot dogs and made s'mores. The Greer family couldn't be friendlier. We stayed Friday and Saturday night and the kids didn't want to leave. We arrived on a Friday late afternoon. The greeting was inhospitable and we were rushed out without any information about when we could enjoy the farm as they advertised on the website. Later that evening came a horrible storm and the electricity and running water went out. There was no flashlights or candles provided for us. We could not connect to wifi to check the weather. The wind felt like it was going to pick up our cabin!s. we used the land line provided to call the main house and there was no answer all evening. The next morning there was still no water or electric so we decided to go by the house before we went into town for breakfast. We were stopped at the bottom of the stairs of the porch by the owners daughter. She was very unforthcoming about any information and told us that "this was country living". Being that we have lived in the country for the last two years I was offended and wasn't paying good money to not have running water. By the time we returned from town we decided to explore the farm. There was no one to be seen. We could not feed or pet the animals or enjoy the farm as the website advertised. We felt like intruders on someone's home so we just went back to the cabin. They also offer walking trails but we're not given maps and it was not clear where any where. By the evening we went to dinner and dropped by the house one more time. We did talk to the wife who was much friendlier. She still did not seem concerned we did not have electricity. They had a generator for the water thank heavens. I had to ask her for a lantern so we could see later that evening when we got home. There was no apology for our experience while we were there and not even an offer a discount since we never had lights and could not flush the toilet half our stay. I was disappointed because they did not provide hospitality and the experience they advertise on their website. Also the lack of care or concern about our welfare after the storm and the lack of any information about anything was frustrating. The positives are that it is a beautiful place ,it is very clean and it has kitchen tools. This was a special trip for my husband and we tried to make the best of it. We will not be returning. read more
