Absolutely not. I wanted something low maintenance, low water, and something that still added curb appeal to our home. After researching a lot of landscaping companies, I finally came across Growscapes OC. Joe came out to give us an estimate, and while I was speaking with him I could tell he had a vision for our redesigned lawn. I relied a lot on his expertise because I wasn't 100% sure what I even wanted. Soon I had a quote (which seemed reasonable enough to me), and a mockup to give us an idea of what the new space could look like. Soon the project began. The crew was courteous and professional. Everything was well communicated. After 5 days our new front yard came to life - from dead grass to desert garden. Immediately we were getting compliments from our neighbors. The house now looks so much more inviting because of Growscapes OC. Thanks Joe and your team!

Growscapes is a scam company. I would give them a negative star rating if I could. It has taken me…read morea long time to write this review because I get so angry. They took total advantage because we're elderly and know nothing about plants. We just took out the $3000.00 worth of shit They sold us. 1) they sold us tropical even though I said they wouldn't work because our backyard gets too much direct sun and heat. Anthony assured me that didn't matter. All that mattered was water. They ALL died within a few months 2) I was told the drip system they installed could be adjusted for each plant to get more or less water. Not true 3) I explained the dirt they were planting in was old and depleted. I was told the dirt didn't matter. They did not treat the dirt or even fertilize what they planted. 4) the drip system they put in had a control that it has a 300 page online manual. Even their installer didn't know how to set it up and was unable to explain it to me. YET he told me it needed to be updated every 6 months when we changed the batteries. Of course we were not told about this requirement until instalation was completed. As I said earlier we are elderly! I asked for a simpler timer and they said there was no option. 5) they are NOT woman owned and operated. Yes, the scamming husband put the company in his wife's name for tax purposes but she CLEARLY knows nothing about plants or landscaping. When I had them come out to see the dead plants she never spoke. Her husband and Anthony did all the arguing and yelling and put all the blame on us. I have never experienced such lack of professionalism in any service industry. All I asked for, and still feel we are entitled to, is a refund. The dead plants have been removed, the inadequate drip system has been removed, and we are starting over. I was duped by a morally bankrupt company. Don't be fooled by the fake reviews on their web page! They have no place to leave a review on their web page and they aren't here so where did those reviews come from?? THEY ARE SCAMMERS! BE WARNED!

Once the design was agreed upon, we were given a price and a start date. We felt so comfortable with Bryan and his staff that we didn't even explore other bids once we had the design (which the customer owns) in place. Bryan, the owner, is very patient and knowledgeable and gives you the feeling that all the details will be taken care of. The contract was written with the amount of detail that the customer appreciates, especially with a project that involves so many elements. We especially liked working with Jonathan, our project manager, who always kept us informed and responded to our inquiries in a timely manner. We started with a Zoom consultation where I was able to walk him through the property and the scope of the project. Bryan is incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to, making the whole process seamless. What stood out most was his professionalism and transparency. Even when our Zoom connection dropped, he called me immediately to finish the conversation without missing a beat. He was also very honest about the value of different tree sizes, guiding me toward the right functional solution rather than just pushing the most expensive option. It's rare to find that level of integrity!

We participated in LB city's Lawn to Garden program to remove the front lawn & replace it with drought tolerant plants & put in dry river feature. We took our time deciding, designing, selecting plants, & moving forward with the whole project. Sean was the main person we worked with and he was so patient, understanding & respectful. He did not push us to make decisions but encouraged us to take our time to look at plants, other people's yards, pictures, etc. to get ideas & to be clear about exactly what we want. We had some succulents, rocks & boulders in the backyard we wanted to incorporate into the new frontyard & Sean did an awesome job pulling everything together. We even managed to get a mandarin tree & a persimmon tree (husband's favorite) i the frontyard. People walking by compliment us on our new front yard & comment on how great it looks. Thank you neighbors for patiently enduring our messy frontyard for the past year. I'm very happy with how the yard turned out & the whole experience with this company. Christie was very responsive & quick to return my calls to schedule the crews. Sean is very knowledgeable about various plants, has good eye for the design, gives good recommendations, & incorporated our wishes well into the final product. Cameron was a great foreman & gave my husband some tips on how to care for various plants we got. Chris came to replace plants which were not doing as well as expected (the scorching heat...) & advised my husand on how to tame the ground cover that is growing very well. We definitely recommend this company to anyone planning a redo of their yards and especially if planning on participating in the Lawn to Garden (L2G) program. This company knows & understands the requirements, & they matched their design cost to what L2G will reimburse homeowners for the design.

Our project…read moreincluded tearing up poured concrete and slate flooring both of which were showing age and damage, replacing with new Belgard pavers, and building a block wall, firepit, and custom block bench seating. We are really happy with how everything turned out. While a variety of challenges arose (thanks Covid) the communication and ease of working with Will made it overall a great experience. A few things that I wanted to highlight... (1) Detail. Will was not the cheapest contractor we got a bid from, however his quote was meticulously detailed, well thought out, and easy to follow. When I started asking a few of the other contractors about what we had discussed but was not written down in their quote, their price and timeline started rising. This showed me Will was honest and up-front and I would not get change orders for things that were verbally agreed. (2) Communication. There were a few delays for various reasons crew members getting sick, small corrections, supply chain etc - however the communication was great. As soon as a problem was identified it was communicated as well as the plan to rectify. (3) Flexibility. We didn't know exactly what we wanted when we started, I'd say we were 90% there but made some changes on the fly. Will was involved, shared his opinion, included the foreman when appropriate, but also willing to work with us when we had changes. (4) Accountability. When a project stretches a few months there are bound to be some issues that arise. Will took accountability for everything that was reasonably in his teams control. As an example when we didnt like one aspect of the firepit, he came over and agreed it was not up to the standard of the rest of the job so he completely redid it, at no cost to us. We will be working with Will again in a year or so when we install matching pavers in our driveway. Projects are tough but I would recommend Will due to his professionalism, accountability, flexibility, great communications and ultimately a beautiful finished product.
