Can't say I know much about Bluffton, Ohio, but I suspect I will not be alone in finding it a convenient stop on a country drive. And what I identified as being one of the few vegetarian options in rural Ohio turned out as well as I could have hoped. The place is a short detour from the highway, just off the town's main street, and is a beautiful space with a high ceiling, brick walls, and interesting furniture. The menu is small, but offers most of what a vegetarian restaurant should. There's some tofu, there's some meat substitutes, but what I got is falafel, which is one of those foods that just happens to be vegetarian. It was a splendid platter, with a healthy dose of fresh-tasting quinoa tabbouleh. The falafel seemed baked and came with ample garnishes. I added some grape leaves as well. These people like olives and cucumber a bit more than I do, but I nonetheless was full for a nice price. They were mostly vegan but did have (and did clearly announce as the one exception) a goat cheese dish. I would certainly recommend the place as being worth a stop for road trippers, and if I find myself on this road again I would like to stop back. read more

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful, bright, and plant-filled. I love the unique vegan food. I recommend the very flavorful fritatta with broccoli and vegan cheddar cheese. It came with smoked potatoes with a Korean barbecue sauce and a half Nancy salad with capers which was lemony and delicious. read more

Absolutely delicious vegan food. We will be regulars! We went for lunch and the mezze plate was my favorite. The most perfectly creamy hummus, muhammara bursting with flavor, stuffed leaves, falafel, kalamata olives, pickles, and pita. We also had the sausage rolls which would certainly trick a non vegan. Never heard of the Greenhorn restaurant before but it came up on a Google search. My Dad used the word Greenhorn as a nickname for my sister and I growing up. We had never tried Lebanese food and the owner was wonderful about describing everything. We left with some fabulous pecan cookies (I'm serious) and a chocolate pudding topped with coconut whipped cream and smoked salt. Pretty sure I licked the container clean. As we live in Central Indiana the only way I get to go back there is if I agree to hubby's continuing purchase of tractor parts. Looks like we'll have all the tractors up and running! read more

Greenhorn is the only truly vegan restaurant for miles around, and the food is amazing. It's creatively prepared, beautifully presented, well seasoned, perfect texture, and overall simply delicious! Jonah and his staff give detailed care to every dish. I have taken friends and family to Greenhorn and even though, unlike me, none are vegan, all left happy and would return for more. We were heading to Bluffton on our bike, to our old standby favorite restaurant, Luke's. A small sign on the corner caught our eye, advertising Greenhorn Cafe. We shifted gears (pun intended) and went to Greenhorn Cafe instead. The wait staff and owners were welcoming and friendly. They had good suggestions for what we should order. We enjoyed fabulous fattoush, sweet corn bisque, roasted green beans and pizza. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Please try this great vegan/vegetarian find. It was delightful! Second time here. This time I brought my carnivorous spouse to see if he would love the food as much as me...He did. He had a spiced lentil dish and I had the tofu and shiitake soup with gochujang. I'd come back again and again just for that soup. The noodles were homemade and perfect. Both dishes were delicious. We also had lemonade and it was fresh and fantastic. It's also worth noting how excellent the service was. John was our waiter and just made the meal. The chef even offered us complementary wine to try pairing with our spicy dishes. Needless to say, if you find yourself in town, stop by this welcoming gem for some vegetarian and vegan food- even if you love meat as much as my husband does. You won't be disappointed. read more
