Local go-to -- for me and others. They almost always have work in the bay and out front. Lots of work done on my F350. Always treated my wife well on her visits, too, offering her honest and fair pricing -- even when she asks to make sure the blinkers have fluid. UPDATE: Y'know, I needed a flush and refill on my AC, but I knew it probably had a deeper problem. It did. So, I approved an hour and a half's labor to diagnose the problem. They found a loose wire, and reconnected it. I was charged only a half hour's labor. This is honesty. read more

I went in this morning and asked to use the microwave seeing that I've been on the road all day and the lady told me that the microwave cannot be used for outside food. A Neighborhood Gem! This is the only gas station I trust for my Porsche--Shell fuel from this location has never triggered a service light (unlike Chevron). It runs smooth every time. Beyond that, the station is immaculate--clean pumps, well-lit, and a fully stocked store. The staff is always friendly and professional. I even bring my son's car here for repairs--they're honest, reliable, and fast. There's always someone kind to greet you, offer to clean your windows, or even pump your gas. Just want to give a huge shout out to Marcus and this Auto Service Station. Had my 2017 Hyundai Tucson towed over 10 days ago. Marcus did a diagnostic and came to the conclusion my only option was to replace the engine. After explaining to me the issues I was in agreement. He took the initiative to reach out to Elk Grove Hyundai for an estimate on a replacement engine. He was told my engine was discontinued to which he asked "Why when my engine was only 8 years old?" He was told the engine was on recall. Marcus asked if he could give them my VIN #and check to see if mine was included on the recall list, and it was. I am now getting a new engine for free due to Marcus and his quick thinking and honesty! I recommend Marcus for all your auto repair needs! He is awesome!! The mechanic here charges extremely high labor costs. $250 for a filter and oil change is extortion. I took my car to Meineke and other quick lube shops, and the same thing gets done for half the cost. Maybe it's a fine place for other services, but please avoid if you only want basic services. read more

During my last appointment, they contracted with a third party to develop the part I needed for my vehicle at a savings of hundreds of dollars for me. This is a really good auto repair shop for the local neighborhood. Solid work, friendly and courteous, fair prices. Plus, they do little extras without charge just for that extra peace of mind. I tend to bypass oil company gas stations for repair services thinking, wrongly, that they overcharge. I've been taking my older Lexus to a place specialized in Japanese car repairs. But I decided to go to Greenhaven Shell because they're very close and could schedule me sooner. They got me in and out the same day. The work was done right; the communications were timely and professional; and they were very courteous and friendly. And they do it all. My new go-to repair shop. read more

Service manager is rude and condescending. I would love to support local business, but apparently they didn't want mine.

Took my car in to have a temperature sensor replaced. They replaced it with a faulty part and didn't bother putting everything back together when done. My check engine light never turned off so took I took it to another repair shop for diagnosis. They told me about the shoddy work that was done and that the sensor they replaced is defective and wasn't even connected! They also didn't bother re-connecting a hose which caused 2 other failures. Worst service ever! They don't guarantee their work and they shouldn't even be in business. read more

Had a terrible experience with Greenhaven Shell Service Center. I've had multiple oil changes which were fine until I needed an actual repair. Check engine light came on. Usually I would take my car to my normal mechanic, but I was busy and Mark said he would read the code to see if it was misfiring. It was and he kept the car to diagnose the problem. The next day Mark said it needed a new coil and 4 new spark plugs. He quoted me $1100 which I knew was way too expensive for that kind of job. When I asked why that price he explained that the spark plugs / coil were difficult to get to and it would take 4 hours to complete. I was extremely busy and needed my car back, so against my better judgement I decided to bite the bullet and pay to get my car back. Immediately after picking up my car the check engine light came back on. Took it back and they kept it a few days and couldn't find what was wrong. We thought it was a blown head gasket but Mark advised to drive it around and see if it was fixed. I did so and broke down on the highway. Had the car towed to my normal mechanic and they were shocked at how much Mark charged me. They showed me the spark plug and coil placement and explained how easy they were to change. They also showed me the O'reily's coil that Mark used...the absolute cheapest. My mechanic showed me a connector valve which was broken and glued back together too. Just shoddy work altogether. He was shocked that Mark made me pay the $1100 and was shocked he didn't give me my money back. Overall, just an absolute terrible experience and dishonest work. Mark is a nice enough guy, but clearly this shop is lacking integrity. I never leave Yelp reviews, but people should beware that you will get taken advantage of at this shop. read more

I had the low tire pressure alert coming up on my dashboard. Found this gas station in my neighborhood and sure enough I had a nail in one of my rear tires. Within 15 mn the hole was plugged. the air pressure of all my tires checked and I was on my way. The attendant was very courteous and the whole process like a breeze. Made my day! read more

My tire pressure light came on and I have had good service from Greenhaven shell in the past so drove there for help. First, I'd like to thank Mark for seeing how long I would stand out in the 105 degree heat waiting for him after he told me to pull behind a car in a bay. I would like to also thank him for not checking to see why my tire was low on air and sending me on my way after he pumped it up. I would like to thank him for the $95 I had to pay the next morning to have someone come change my tire because it was now too low on air to drive on. The nail was removed and tire repaired at a different establishment. Will I be back to Greenhaven Shell? Probably not. read more

Came here to fill up last night. Another customer pulled up and harrased me and categorized me with people with similar rides not knowing if I'm to blame. I kept calm as the dude complained and gradually enraged himself. The person working the shift, I regret I forget his name, came after a bit and asked the other person to leave for harassing me. I have purchased gasoline from this shell for over 30 years for my family's boats and cars. For years, I would purchase new tires at the tire rack and bring them there to be installed, mounted, and balanced which they always did. Today I went in for the same service and spoke with Mark Hansen who apparently is the manager. His attitude and demeanor were sub par, and he told me that he was booked out a week and did not need my business. If he did not want to do it that's fine, he just didn't have to be such a jerk about it. Gas stations are a dime a dozen and I'm sure that there are other gas stations out there who will appreciate my business. I tried to leave a review on their website, but you can't do that without having an invoice # etc. I subsequently went to Les Schwab on Meadowview where they were both friendly and professional and took me right in with a smile. What a difference! To make things better they had a great waiting room with the Olympics on TV, and multiple tables and chairs. read more

I've lived in the neighborhood for over 40 years. Although the gas prices are a bit higher the service here is top notch. When they have time, they still come out to clean your windows!! They are super friendly. The air and water is free and often times when I swing by the guys will ask if they can check my tire for leaks. So here's my honest experience with this repair shop and how I've had to make 3 visits in 4 weeks  to fix my car and my car is still not functioning. 02/04/21: FIRST VIST I set up an appointment to get my car it's yearly routine diagnostic and to top off my oils. Everything was running fine prior to bringing it in and so everything checked out fine and I paid $$ and left. 02/12/21: Car stops working and is making clicking noise and I get it jumped and it's working again. It dies two more times so I set up an appointment at my next availability to get it jumped and bring it in. 03/01/21: SECOND VISIT I bring the car in for ANOTHER check up. Now the battery, thermostat, and radiator are all bad and theres no coolant so I had to pay a good sum of money to repair them. I was pretty upset that these things were not caught in my first visit on 02/04/21. But since my car wouldn't be able to drive without the repairs I paid $$$$ and left. 03/08/21: THIRD VISIT So I drive my car to the store about five minutes from my house and as I park the car I see smoke coming from the hood. I get out and see a huge puddle of brown fluid under my car. I take a look under the hood and my radiator hose is completely broke off and leaking coolant everywhere. So I go to the shop AGAIN and they said this isn't covered under warranty and I need to pay now more $$ to fix it. I've decided to fix it myself and I will not be returning. read more

I've taken my car multiple times to Shell hoping to have a better experience. When speaking to customers or at least myself, the head mechanic/manager Mark speaks in a very condescending manner. They up charge services immensely. His customer service is awful. I've had pleasant experiences with his employees, but it's not enough to give them another shot. The convenience of Shell being down the street isn't worth being spoken to the way the manager speaks here. Not only that, my check engine light has come on and they're saying it's not on for them and can't do anything then proceeded to charge me $175 diagnostic fee when there wasn't anything to diagnose! Before I write this review I didnt know anything about smog or cars or whatever until I took my car to the dealership to fix due to a recall. I called and made an appointment to get my car smog. My engine light has been on for a while and you can clearly see the engine light on when u start the car. (Not knowing that it obviously would not pass smog due to engine being on) So I left my car there and was told it will take about 45 min. I come back and was told it will cost me 59.95. What I dont understand is why they couldnt call me to let me know after they saw that my engine light is on that it wasnt going to pass smog. Well now let me tell you why. Because they saw me as an easy target to rip off, being a women who didnt know anything about it and decided to just charge me and not tell me that it wasnt going to pass smog because the engine light is on. The manager there who wouldnt give his name to me was so rude! I called and asked him after the dealership told me he should have known that it wasnt going to pass smog why charge me and instead steal my money and lie to me. The price for doing a diagnostic to figure out why my engine light is 149.00. The next day I called why my engine light is on and was told by the manager that it could be anything and for me to bring my car back to do a diagnostic after he already charged me 59.95 to smog my car the first time knowing it wasnt going to pass. All he told me was engine light is on so it didnt pass smog. Well duh! He saw the light on before he smog my car but still did it anyways to get money from me. He keeps making excuses when I called to talk to him. I couldn't even get a word in because he kept talking over me and was being so rude. All they do is try to make excuses to take money from you instead of being honest. Especially if your a women and they know you dont know anything about cars they will take advantage of you! LIE AND STEAL FROM YOU! THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT HONEST AT ALL AND WILL LIE AND TAKE WHATEVER THEY CAN FROM YOU. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! After a failed smog check, we took our van here for repairs. We were assured that the suggested repairs were worth it because the van was great otherwise, and the transmission only needed minor work done. After the work was completed, the check engine light didn't go out when they said it would. When we took it back, we were told the transmission has a permanent failure and needs to be replaced - so all the previous work was a waste of time and money. read more

If I could give theses crooks a zero star rating I would. I've been taking my car here for a couple years now to get an oil change and tire rotation (as my other car shopped had closed). Well it turns out they were never rotating my tires and just charging me for it. On my last oil change and tire rotation they said they couldn't rotate my tires and said I need to replace all four tires. I have Michelin tires I got from Costco rated for 90,000 miles. I took my car to Costco to confirm (have a second opinion) if I need all four tires replaced and it turns out I needed to only replace the front two tires. I will also be needing to an alignment job done because of these guys not rotating my tires. I will never be using these guys again for any car work. read more

Let me say this place is usually fine... but today the Asian guy that works in the tire shop was beyond rude and LAZY!! All I wanted was my tire looked at because I had a hole. He was actually tantrum like a child when I asked him to look at it! Then he wouldn't do anything but look at it and tell me he didn't see a hole and spray some water on it. I asked him "do you want me to take it somewhere else to get it looked at and he said yeah if you want to".. like really !???? left the shop and immediately went to another where they found the hole and plugged my tire within 5 minutes !!! So if you have a tire that needs to be repaired ,don't ever take it here because all you'll get is an attitude and not a replacement. This gas station is awesome! There's a staff there who goes above and beyond to fill up my gas tank! How awesome is that? I asked him why he does that and he says its because he's being courteous and also it kills time. Wow! Didn't realize there are still courteous gentlemen out there. Next time, I"ll be sure to look super cute! The location is around a corner. It's super small and its unfortunate that there's limited food and drinks. If you need to grab snacks/drinks, then you may want to drop by Grocery Outlet or the liquor store behind this gas station. Other than that, the gas station is pretty clean. My parents live in the Greenhaven/Pocket 'hood (Sac) and one day while trying to leave their place and head home to mine (east bay) my nosy dad that routinely does a "walk" around my car to make sure his girl will be safe on the road goes "Jules, your front blah blah tire looks a little low" I'm like "Dad, I don't wanna deal with needing quarters, filling up my tank..." No! he says, "this shell down the street offers free water/air" Truly, it is free. just press the button. I haven't seen this at gas stations since I was a young kid. These days you have to fuel up your car or plunk in .75 cents to add a little air. Aside from this, you can also get mechanical check ups done here @ the repair shop or just fuel up on your way to I-5. Quick, convenient, free. read more

Unfortunately, the mechanic got greedy and was not honest. Their prices are so inconsistent and dependent on who you talk to. I was told on the phone that the AAA pre-purchase inspection would be $99 and when we got to their shop it was $129. We took our vehicle there for an inspection and were told only one thing needed to be replaced immediately, the others could wait. He gave us a price that were ok with. When we called later, they gave us an entirely different story that made it sound as if our truck was going to fall apart in the next few days and going to cost $1500 to fix instead of $400. I can't tell who they were being "honest" with. Sounds like greed to me. read more

Greenhaven Shell is a full service station away from the freeway. I gave two stars because It's well lit at night and a quick stop on the way home. This Shell has a full-service shop and at least 3 mechanics that work M-Sat. I had my car repaired here for about 10 years with positive results. Ray was the shop manager. He would say hi when I came in or wave hello if I was just filling up the tank. If I had a question or needed my oil checked, no problem, done & no charge. Plus, they would drive you home & pick-up while your car was in their shop. Now that Shell has a new manager, everything needs an appointment & costs $108 just to take a look. He doesn't know my name, costs have gone up & getting a ride, forget it. It no longer feels like a neighborhood shop where the customer used to come first. read more

Just called in to get a ballpark range for brake replacements. Mind you I've never called around and learning how to fix my brakes, they're squeaky and I don't want to get into an accident. Well I call in and ask if they do brake repairs or services. He says yeah. I ask ok how much does it cost? He says for what? Already I'm annoyed. I'm asking for a quote on brakes you asshole what do you think. He sighs and explains how he has to see the car and what's going on with the brakes. So he says I'll give you a price for a generic pricing. I ask him if it helps to know the make and model of the car and he says no because I still have to see the rotors, front and rear brakes. While driving alone from Los Angeles to Central Oregon for a family wedding, the heater core blew out in my 1995 Isuzu Trooper. It was the middle of summer and the car was overheating badly. I called AAA and they recommended Greenhaven Shell so I had the car towed there. Because I had to be at the wedding the next day, and was just passing through, they went to work on my car right away and rigged it so that I had air-conditioning and could continue my trip. Ray, who I talked to, was so nice. He moved a bench into the shade so I would have a place to sit while waiting and looked up the cost of parts for me even though I would not be having the heater core replaced there. The cost for the work they did was reasonable. I felt well taken care of and was on my way soon, making it to the wedding on time. I feel that any woman driving alone will be treated with kindness and respect and can trust Greenhaven Shell when having car trouble. read more
