In my experience, Matt Carson has been as upfront and trustworthy as an auto mechanic can be. For me, he's been "the man" that way for well over a decade and that, along with him knowing his trade and being very good at what he does, is why. Today when I brought my vehicle to Carson Auto to address what looked to me to be a warranty-covered issue was no exception; I was in and out in not much over an hour with said warranty being honored on Matt's initiative. As I said in so many words on this platform eight years ago, I'd highly recommend Matt and his expert services that he backs up/stands behind to anyone who wants a real pro working on his or her ride. read more

Carson Automotive came highly recommended. Customer service is great, and I have an appointment for servicing my car. Yelp has the wrong phone number listed. That led to frustration until my friend gave me the correct number. read more

Solid auto shop we've been going to for years. Can be a little hard to get in sometimes. But that's because they do good work and they are genuinely kind people. read more

Very detailed and knowledgeable mechanics. Front office is always polite and accommodating. Great suggestions to avoid future issues.

Honest. Fair. Does QUALITY work. I'm not sure what else you could want or ask for in a mechanic. Seems like a full service shop too. All with a friendly family vibe. I'll be back and I highly recommend Carson Auto. read more

Every time I have used them on both our cars, they have done an excellent job. They get you in promptly if it is an emergency, such as a tire leak and schedule you for a regular check up in a reasonable time. read more

Don't expect them to answer the phone or help you. Incredibly rude and unhelpful front desk woman.

I have been going to Carson Automotive Repair for over ten years now they have all ways dun great work on all my Vehicles that

Brought my 2010 Mercedes E350 in for a thermostat replacement. Maria at the front desk is the best! Super friendly and accommodating. Had to bring the car in twice as the thermostat I supplied on the initial repair turned out to be defective (stuck closed). Maria only charged me for labor and didn't charge for the new thermostat on the follow-up repair. She felt bad that I had to bring it back. Will definitely go back for any future car repairs. Highly recommended! read more

In my 40+ years of driving I've never been stranded on the highway and I finally got to experience what it feels like to be parked on the shoulder and not being able to get home. SO since I've never been stranded, I finally got to exercise my AAA roadside service that I've been paying for all these years but I didn't have a place to have my truck towed to because my "To Go" repair facility told me they were too busy. My "To Go" garage was kind enough to recommend Carson Automotive. When I called, Matt answered and said they were available and to have the tow truck driver drop my vehicle at his shop. Matt asked a few questions on what happened and he knew exactly what the problem was before my car arrived. Matt was able to get my 17 year old truck back on the road within a couple of days at a very reasonable charge. It so nice to find another honest garage to add into my contact list. I just worry about what will happen to Carson Automotive and all of the other honest garages once our totalitarian/authoritarian slick haired governor's rule of killing ICE vehicles become reality in 2035. He will not only kill gas/diesel vehicles but also the livelihood of thousands of automotive repair experts like Matt. Electric cars are not 100% green....do the research yourself instead of believing the lies from politicians that profit from "green energy" when they manipulate and pass laws to make millions of dollars for themselves. Don't believe me? Research the Pelosi's and their investments. Find the truth yourself. read more

I love this team. Matt AND Marie are awesome. Their prices are fair, and the shop won't rip you off. Matt stands by his work. They are not open on weekends, but its worth waiting until Monday to get your car towed in if necessary. I highly recommend him and his team. read more

Affordable and good service. I don't know a lot about cars, I leave that to the experts, but when I brought my car in for an oil change they took care of everything AND they buffed out a huge scratch on my car that had been there for months. Totally sweet people, too! read more

This is my goto place for mechanic work . These guys are great here . Just don't open weekends but they get their stuff done !

Honest. Old-fashioned reliable automotive repair performed by the owner and is tight-knit Staff of professionals. Hard to find folks like this. They've been conveniently around the same Land Park/Greenhaven neighborhood for so long, I just don't think twice about bringing my car in for service here instead of the dealer. Just a place where I feel comfortable doin business with. That's why. read more

Carson Automotive is located on the south east corner of Blair Avenue and Belleau Wood Lane, next to Ohana Dance Group, in south Sacramento. They recently moved from the South Hills 76 gas station which is just west of their present location on 43rd Ave. I was recommended by a good friend that they could take care of any automotive needs that I had. I recently developed a leak in my right rear tire and didn't know the cause so I dropped by the shop. Matt, the owner, greeted me as I entered and asked if he could help me. I explained that my tire was losing air and that I had added more air so I could drive over to his shop but now the air was still leaking and needed him to repair it. He stated that he was eating lunch and he would get right on it after he finished. Next thing I knew he came back to me and told me that he finished repairing it already. Could not have been more than 15 minutes. NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL "SERVICE"!!!!!! I read many four and five star reviews that Matt received when he was at the South Hills 76 station which can also be found on yelp.com. So if you have a need for automotive repair service I suggest you see Matt at Carson Automotive in Sacramento. read more

This was the first time using this shop, since they were right up the road basically from me. I had taken our 2001 Toyota Sequoia in to have some diagnostics checked due to some 'check lights' coming on. The lady at the customer service counter was SO nice and had a great personality, and she LOVEs candy! Matt the owner has an incredible collection of old vintage 'Play things' in there that you will really enjoy looking at.....but seriously, the customer service and quality of the service was GREAT!!! Support your local independant service centers. This one i will most definitely be using again. And they fixed the 'rattling in my stereo' in the car. Thanks to Matt and Maria! I have been taking my car here for over 3 years and every time Matt has helped and fixed my car! This place has the BEST customer service . The office gal is great and I will ALWAYS bring my car here! It is very hard to find a mechanic you can trust and this is the place!! I will ALWAYS recommend Carson Automotive. read more

Can not ask for better service and quality work. Called with car issues and they took me in right away. Was all ready to go the next day so I wasn't down a vehicle with my family. Best part is that they quoted me a price and when the work was done they didn't add up a bunch of extra crap. It's hard to find an honest mechanic anywhere and I will be definitely recommend this place to friends and family for years to come. read more

A very special thumbs up to Matt at Carson Automotive. Last week, I noticed that the engine on my Prius was running rough. Shortly afterward, my check engine light came on. I ran an OBD2 scan on the car and got a "Cylinder Misfire" message. After doing a little Googling, I was convinced that I had a bad head gasket. After doing some deep-breathing exercises and preparing myself for a costly repair, I called Carson Automotive and spoke with Matt. Matt quickly diagnosed my problem over the phone and "bet his money" that the problem was bad spark plugs, not a bad head gasket. He was pretty booked up, but he told me that if I had figured out how to do an OBD2 scan, that I could probably change them myself. He sent me a YouTube video on how to change them, and, armed with my newly purchased torque wrench (and the courage instilled by Matt), I tackled the job myself in about 2 hours. As predicted by Matt, the spark plugs fixed the problem. The engine now purrs like it once did, and the "knocks" are but a distant memory. I know I'm going to have to clean the EGR Cooler and Feed Pipe at some point (something I lack the courage to try), and I very much look forward to taking it to Matt at Carson Automotive when the time comes! read more

Great people and great service. I always worry about being overcharged for service not needed, but Carson Automotive gave me service needed and DID NOT charge me. I blew the motor in my 09 Pilot thinking it was done. The previous owner changed the timing belt but not the tensioning pulley go figure. So I was stuck with an 8thousand dollar paperweight. But she's back at it and better than ever thanks to Matt and his crew... minus a couple thousand of course but I should get another 100,000 out of her at least. read more

Great staff. Very knowladgeble. Always great service. Recommend them to anyone.

I really love this place. Its a really nice and decent shop. Straight forward, welcoming, and professional. The owner/mechanic is really awesome. He is really patient, kind, and professional. He also gets your car in and out pretty fast in my opinion, meaning he does quality work in a fraction of the time as dealers who would let your car sit before working on it. I also like how he is local and started from humble beginnings, from sharing his business with a gas station to now having a full size professional shop. I love the automotive decor inside too. I thought that was really good taste and interesting to see and look at. I also felt his prices are reasonable and fair. I definitely use his quite regularly and would highly recommend. read more

This review is not only for my most recent experience but also for my parents (who are not so tech savvy) as they have all their vehicles serviced here. He takes care of their older Lexii (is that the plural of Lexus?) and their even older Ford Excursion. He is honest, efficient, and competitively priced. In addition, he's friendly and is great at explaining options for needed repairs. I called Matt at Carson Auto to see if he had time to do a used vehicle inspection on a used Lexus RX350 I was interested in buying in Roseville. He was able to fit me in quickly and tell me about the car over the phone as I don't live in Sacramento anymore. He was thorough and his green light is all I needed to know the car was solid. PREVIOUS REVIEW (at South Hills 76, Carson Auto's previous location) **This review is a long time in the making and I should have written it sooner. Last March my car began having difficulty starting. It would always start in the mornings or after a few hours of being turned off but if I stopped for a short period of time (like to get groceries or gas) it wouldn't start. On a recommendation from my parents friends, I brought my car to Matt Carson at South Hills 76. He was honest, fast, and reasonably priced. I was afraid my car was headed for the junkyard but it turned out to be just a sensor issue. Last month I had my oil changed at a local place in Napa where I live. They proceeded to tell me I needed a few thousand dollars worth of work from shocks and struts to tires. Never mentioned that I needed brakes so I imagine had I gone back to their shop for the "needed repairs" it would've been even more expensive than the original quote. I called Matt to see if he could look at the car on a Saturday and he said of course so I made the drive from Napa. Not only did he take a look at the car but he assessed that all I really needed were new brakes AND did the repairs all in a few hours. Worth the drive from Napa for an honest mechanic. Highly recommend!** read more

We've been customers since 2014 and recently moved to Reno but still come to Sacramento for services at the Carson Automotive! Relying on several Yelp reviews of Carson Automotive I set up an appointment with Maria who greeted me with a smile and a friendly personality. I needed several items attended to on my Honda CRV at 85000 miles. We discussed my needs and I returned a couple days later. An earlier estimate from another shop for the same work was more than $1,000. The ASE certified technician at Carson did everything I needed and made a recommendation for future work I will take care of at a later date. My bill was nearly $300 less that the other shop and I couldn't be happier with my experience at Carson Automotive. No pressure to push other services just a friendly , and honest-neighborhood business. read more

Everything truly happens for a reason... I stumbled upon Carson Automotive by pure luck. I got picked up by a car rental place & was being brought to their location to rent a car when I got a call from a friend. I mentioned to my friend I needed a recommendation on an auto shop. My car overheated & I needed a mechanic ASAP. After getting off the phone the driver of the rental place suggested Carson Automotive & to call Matt. BEST SUGGESTION EVER... I called Matt the following morning and he took my car in that day. It was my radiator & I had several hoses that needed replacing. Matt was informative & got the job done fast. I read his reviews on here before calling him. Happy to add that I am also an extremely happy customer. I will also recommend Matt/ Carson Automotive to anyone looking for an honest mechanic! Thank you so much! read more

We had just moved to Sacramento from the Bay Area when my wife's 525 BMW suddenly started misfiring badly and continuously. Checked on Yelp for a good mechanic and found Carson Automotive. Although I understand cars pretty well, Matt impressed me by finding two problems with inlet mixture. The crank case ventilation (CCV) valve was faulty (as was clear when I saw the old part) but even after it was repaired, the ignition was still faulty. Matt did another smoke test on the intake manifold and found that the runner valve was also bad. After he replaced that and topped off the fluids (for free), the car ran fine. The price was very reasonable. I highly recommend Matt and Carson Automotive. read more

Today was my first time using their service. Absolutely love them! I'm thrilled I found them. Not too many places that service RVs. Great service. Friendly staff and super quick! I always get great service - QUALIFORDABILITY is the best way I would describe Carson's Automotive. Matt's shop was referred to me by a neighbor (who is an experienced auto mechanic by upbringing & hobby) and I've had a great experience. Matt also helped take great care of my mom's car. read more

I was recommended to Carson Automotive through Nextdoor App. I was NOT disappointed. From the moment I arrived they were the nicest people you could ever imagine. They were very honest with me and took time to listen to my concerns. They took my car in at the appointment time. I waited no more than an hour and the job was done. While I was waiting, Evan kept going to the back and giving me updates on my car. No surprises. They had a few people (Customers) come in after me and they treated everyone with the same respect. This is the best service I have ever had at an auto repair shop. Evan and Matt are the best. I highly recommend them. read more
