Dr. Greenfield is an excellent and highly skilled endocrinologist. Unfortunately, his staff does not reflect the same level of professionalism. Frequent mistakes and a lack of confidence in their responsibilities create a poor impression and ultimately undermine the quality of his practice. I hope the team will improve over time, or that he will bring in staff who are better equipped to support his level of care. Without these changes, I'm concerned that the practice may suffer due to the shortcomings of the current staff. read more

This is the WORST practice in the HISTORY of the WORLD... They have more holidays than anyone in the world... They constantly write prescriptions for very short periods of time. When the insurance requirements are pointed out, they SAY they have approved a longer time BUT the pharmacy denies that. Do they think patients won't find out? read more

Dr Greenfield is great. He took extra time with me to determine my history, which was not well documented by past doctors by the way, determine my needs and my ability to progress with different treatments. He prescribed a medication that lowered my A1c from well over 10 to 6.1 in 60 days. During that time I was able to get off insulin and all other diabetes drugs completely bring my blood sugars into the normal range without causing low blood sugars and I even lost 34 pounds in that same period. His tweaking of my medications has also helped lose weight by replacing some medications that hamper weight loss with others that do not and helped me replace constant hunger with lower appetite. We have now progressed to the reduction of lethargy and reducing BP. It seems to be going well so far. Dr Greenfield explains clearly what he is doing, how my endocrine system should and or may react and what that means to my recovery and short term and long term health. He generally recommends the lowest impact options first to allow/encourage the body to heal itself. Yes I have to wait a bit sometimes when he runs overtime with another patient but it is only fair since I am certain he will allocate as much time as needed to help me too. 5 stars is not enough to describe my satisfaction with the treatment I get. read more

I was referred to Dr. Greenfield by my mother in law. He is attentive, unrushed and really wants to help his patients. I did overhear from the receptionist that he runs late quite often, so my next appointment I called before I left and she said he was running about an hour behind. I got there an hour later and he saw me within 5 minutes. I know this may seem irritating to some patients, but I can see why he runs late. He is thorough, answers all your questions and when I am there I feel like I am the only patient. This is more important to me than a doctor who is on time but rushes me out after 5 minutes. To the other poster that referenced the lab work, his practice did not call me but he always schedule a follow-up appointment within 2 weeks of the appointment where he ordered the labs. He ALWAYS reviewed the lab work with me. I love Dr. Greenfield and I am so glad I found him. I am a young diabteic patient and appreciate his expertise and knowledge. Just call 20 minutes before your appointment time and ask the staff, they are honest and will give you an accurate time. read more

I have been seeing Dr.Greenfield for almost 6 years now for my hypothyroidism as well as Gestational diabetes with both my pregnancies. He is absolutely attentive, caring and has a good sense of humor about everything. He knows his medicine and helped me amazingly with glucose control with my first baby. I am currently in my third trimester with the second baby and he's been so on top of things! He makes sure that you are vigilant about diet, exercise and medications and he always takes the extra time and effort to answer all your questions - I have never had a specialist spend so much time with me per appointment! He does run late sometimes, but it helps to call ahead so you can plan your arrival time. His front desk staff - both Monica and Giselle are very efficient and friendly. Dr. Greenfield office is by far the worst, have to schedule an appointment 30 days out, then at the last min being called and rescheduled last min happens all the time. Then if you can't make an appointment you are charged 50 dollars. But if he makes you wait 30-60 you don't get a 50 dollar credit? Here I am again, waiting. It's an hour since my scheduled appointment and here I am, again. Waiting. It's excruciating. Every time I arrive on schedule my heart sinks when I see the 5 people already waiting. At least 15 minutes each... so I'll be waiting... over an hour? Better call work and reschedule everything, again. Is Dr Greenfield pleasant? Certainly. Is he good? Seemingly. Are the rooms rundown with antiquated equipment and the feeling of indifference permeating everything? Absolutely! Does he or his staff show any concern about the consistently huge waiting times? It appears not. If you value your time, try someone else. Maybe this is endemic to endochrinologists, but maybe it isn't! You still have a chance to find out. Also, no Blue Shield. Update: Today I was finally seen 115 minutes late. 115 minutes. Vaguest of apologies. Is that respectful? Do you want to be treated like that? Go somewhere else. Go anywhere else. I value my time, but I value my health more and Dr. Greenfield is worth the wait. Many folks with Thyroid issues can easily have them fixed and its rarely an issue. I have an acute Thyroid condition that most doctors seem to make it worse. I moved from LA to San Jose last year and met with 4 other doctors. None of them asked me how I was feeling, recommend we do updates of tests that were taken more than 5 years ago or even ordered a blood test to make sure THEY had updated information. I never went back to those doctors. Dr. Greenfield, while I did wait for about 50 minutes to see him, he hit all of the important points, ordered updates of old tests and really moved through details thoroughly. If you have a simple issue and time is a major factor in your life and you can't afford to put aside an extra hour, every 3-6 months to make sure your health is in order, this isn't the doctor for you. But if you need a doctor strong in his discipline and being healthy has not time limit for you, this guy is great. And I am VERY picky!!! read more

Dr. Greenfield was on call for my mother's doctor when he had to be out of town. Greenfield refused to help with using the lab results of an ongoing PT/INR for Coumadin to treat deep vein thrombosis and had his asst say he did not know the patient's background and would not get involved in approving the same dosage or changing the dosage ... even though her doctor's office sent him the lab results as well as the background. The assisted living home where she lives cannot change the dosage without a doctor's orders. Greenfield is a real jerk. Totally unprofessional. Since the thinning of blood with Coumadin can be very dangerous, his refusing to consider it an emergency to assist a patient from an office for which he was on call is both unprofessional and uncaring. read more

Time management is a major issue, particularly if the root problem is overbooking. You need to be prepared to wait and sometimes show up and not be seen requiring to come back some other day. If this is your idea of caring service, you need to set your expectations. read more

So I was sent to this doctor for gestantional diabetes after I asked my ob-gyn for a real endcrinologist after horrible experience with the obgyn diabetes factory farm kind of doctors who I wont go on about here but were horrible and idiots. Dr Greenfield was knowledable without being preachy, practical and had great tips for me to help control my sugar level. I've recommended him to others who were also happy. I never waited more than 5 minutes in his office and while is office is old fashioned his rooms were clean and office staff very helpful. read more

Are you trying to save a few minutes or are you trying to get good medical advice? I will assume you are looking for the advice. Dr. Greenfield is EXCELLENT because he does take the time to talk to you and review all the details of your health. And YES this takes more than 10 minutes. Make the call before you arrive and ask when to come in based on how backlogged he is. I personally feel it's a good sign when a doctor is busy, running behind, because it means he is putting in the time necessary for that patient before you. I'm irritated at the reviews knocking him because of time management. If I want only 10 minutes with the doctor, I'll go to a clinic. It's unfair to knock his medical skills because you don't want to wait. BTW, the rooms have recently been remodeled and look great. I hope he never retires. Excellent doctor. Not only does he take as much time as necessary to listen to your concerns, but he offers alternatives if you're not wanting to do something. Yes, I had to wait 40 mins for my appt., but I know it's because he takes his time with each patient. The receptionist is more than willing to let you know if he is running late. I live in Los Angeles, was visiting the Bay Area (where I grew up) and our whole family was swept by a bug. I landed in the hospital because of my pre-existing health problem. My underlying health problem is treated by an endocrinologist. In order to treat my food poisoning properly, the hospital called Dr. Greenfield who came to see me all three days I was admitted, even though he was ON VACATION! He properly monitored me, my medications and was so generous with his time as I asked question after question. He was so thorough in his questions of me and very knowledgable about the implications of one action or another. I had always been nervous about falling Ill away from home due to the horror stories I had read about people with my rare condition dying because of improper care. He is a genuine doctor who cares significantly for his patients. He is extremely knowledgable, never rushing my mother, instead he is very thorough.
