Freedom Farms - My dog waiting for us to feed her dinner

I used to suffer from terrible gastrointestinal issues, and after years of trying to figure out the…read morecause, I decided to switch where I was sourcing my meat. I stopped buying meat from grocery stores like Whole Foods and started ordering from Freedom Farms -- and my stomach has never been better. Even my husband, who is extremely skeptical about this kind of thing, noticed a difference almost immediately. The first time we ordered from Freedom Farms, we let our supply run out before placing our next order (big mistake!). We had to grab "organic, grass-fed" meat from the store as a backup, and within a day, both my husband and I were violently sick -- and so was our dog. She had diarrhea, and we had it coming out of both ends (TMI, but it matters). That's when it fully clicked: we need to be buying straight from the farm. We now exclusively feed our dog food we cook ourselves, using Freedom Farms meat. We use the bones for bone broth and add the hearts and livers into her meals. Our vet has literally told us she is the epitome of health. Since switching, my own blood work has also improved across the board -- all my levels are better. I truly believe a lot of store-bought meat is falsely advertised, even when it claims to be grass-fed or organic. Looking back, I think I was constantly inflamed from consuming poor-quality meat. The taste difference is undeniable too -- whenever I eat out or have meat from a store in a pinch, it genuinely tastes and feels like rubber to me. Thankfully, that almost never happens anymore because we make sure to order well ahead of time. Beyond the quality, I love everything this company stands for -- transparency, integrity, American farming, and education. The fact that you can even visit their farm says everything. I've seen some negative reviews, and honestly, I can't believe them. Freedom Farms has truly changed my life, and my dog has never been happier. Thank you, Freedom Farms, for doing things the right way. You've made a real, measurable difference in our health and our lives.

As frequent visitors, we want to unconditionally love Frog Pond Farms, because it's clearly a LOT…read moreof work to offer what they do and we respect that kind of hard work. When our daughters were toddlers, they could spend all day looking at the animals while we browsed through the enormous quantities of plants and produce. But we can't continue to ignore the "cons". The parking lot looks like it's been bombed, and - as other reviews have noted - it's not exactly the safest place when you consider lots of children running around. Visitors must be extra vigilant and patient when pulling in and finding a place to park. On busy days, the one long narrow strip of parking spots can be a challenge. The far end of the business where chicks, ducks, and bunnies are sold is incredibly fly infested. Fly paper rolls could go a long way in making it more tolerable. I'm not sure if the horrid conditions in some of the cages impacts the health of the birds, but I can tell you we purchased 5 silkie chicks a couple of weeks ago, and two of them died within days, and a third is showing signs of distress. This is not the first time we've had this experience with animals we've purchased there - sick animals, inaccurate sexing. We have stopped considering Frog Pond as our "go-to" place when we want to add to our flocks. The flies are also a problem in the fruits and vegetables. I was browsing the display of berries and grapes and completely rejected any notion of buying them with the quantity of flies that were landing on them. I don't know if there's a solution to that, being that it's - in effect - an outdoor farm stand. Look, there's a lot that's amazing and wonderful and unique about Frog Pond. The work they put in to stocking it, the amazing math wizard at the register who adds everything up in his head just like his dad did, etc. The place has gotten a LOT bigger since we first discovered it and that growth may be working against them. Other reviewers have stated much of the produce is trucked in from outside the area, and not grown locally. Not sure if that matters to most people, but the place does give the "vibe" that it's a local source farm stand that offers plentiful heaps of whatever's in season. The prices are quite a bit higher than what you'd pay for similar items in local grocery stores, but again - we understand the overhead must be pretty substantial for Frog Pond. If you have children - especially little ones - they'll see the place as Disney. When the magic wears off, though, and you start noticing how many greenbacks you're handing over when you go, you start to consciously reflect on whether it's worth the trip out there.

My only suggestion is that they try to clean the place up a little! They could make a killing if they just fixed their signage ( which needs some serious updating , even the signs on the backroads are faded and hard to see!) The photo op area is off to the side surround by weeds and just looks like a real mess - which is what I think keeps people and families away. I know it's a small family business but this is something that can be worked on in the off season. Just these little tweaks to your business could really bring in a crowd. Unless that's what you're trying to avoid- which I also understand . They also need to work on their social media page- especially Instagram. Things are often misspelled , the number of years they have been open often changes, or the odd pictures of the older son with his shirt off is kind of weird to me , especially on a pumpkin farm page. But just thought I'd give my 2 cents. Otherwise, I can't wait to stop up and get some pumpkins and mums!

The market has locally made crafts like jewelry, candles, and jam, a small selection of fresh produce and meat, gluten-free pantry items (not a huge selection, but more interesting options for pasta and cereals than you can find in a mid-sized grocery store), spices/tea in bulk, and locally roasted coffee beans. For the size of the store, they really have a good variety and strike a good balance of basic groceries vs gourmet items. The coffee shop has the standard coffee and tea drinks with some seasonal specialty drinks plus a moderate assortment of baked goods. I tried the blueberry muffin, lemon lavender scone, and a matcha latte from the coffee shop. The baked goods were great. Both had great texture (none of the dryness that cheap GF baked goods often suffer from) and nice flavours. The scone was closer to the dessert side of the baked good spectrum (sweet and almost a shortbread cookie texture), but the muffin was less sweet and wholesome-tasting. My matcha latte was pretty good, easily the best matcha I've had in the Binghamton area. I was with my mom, who got a black tea, and while I didn't actually have any of her tea, I know and like the tea company that they use. The vibe was friendly and welcoming. I'd like to come back here next time I'm in the area!
