Dr. Is good however I was charged $945 for an exam and glass when I bought my own frames. I'm not sure how that is possible. I have VSP and that covers the exam and lenses yet they still want $350. The office is incredibly inefficient and the staff is lacking. They seem more interested in not doing their job than actually helping. Got my new glasses, told lady didn't think was correct prescription. Told me I just had to get used to them. Took glasses to my eye doctor to have them check if prescription was correct. They were so far off my prescription, not anywhere what is was supposed to be Took them back and had to wait another10 days for my glasses. I have had my glasses a little over a year and the lenses are cracking in the corners. Told me my warranty was up. Nothing they could do. Looking for new place to get my new prescription . WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! The Doctor is OK, but the office help needs major training in customer service and communication. My husband had an appointment set up several months in advance for his second year getting his exam there, no change in insurance... we got a call from them a few days before his scheduled date and they asked if I was paying cash and said that our insurance is out of network.. I told her it wasn't out of network and had her check again. Once she did, she said I was right so no problem. I can Understand one mistake, but keep reading. Once he started his exam I mentioned to the Dr that his current Oakley glasses had one of its hinge arms loose and wobbly, she said to take it to the lady who can adjust them in front .. I want to say her name is Hailey (dark hair) she was incredibly rude right off the bat and acted like she was completely put out by having to look at his glasses. She took them to the back and immediately came back out and said that she tightened them as tight as the screw would go, and nothing else could be done, (turns out she totally stripped the screw) they are still under warranty but that didn't matter to her. I told her that hadn't fixed it and she said ' what exactly do you want?' Extremely rude. I have dealt with the her three different times and she has been rude with a terrible attitude every one of them. I don't know how she is still employed there, as I have seen her be rude to other customers when I've been waiting. Once my husband was done with his exam, he came out and sat down to go over the insurance to buy this year's glasses, the young man that was helping him went over our insurance and was writing down all of the costs for each individual thing he wanted, I caught that he was charging us $100 more out of pocket then what should have been. After asking him about it he realized he was looking at someone else's insurance plan! It's been a few weeks now and I can't recall everything else that happened, but it was one thing after another! I would NOT recommend this place! We will never go back that's for sure! read more

On October 6, 2023 I went to Greene Eyes for an eye exam and glasses. I've been going there for years. I usually saw Dr. Prince. I had no issues until last year. I saw Dr. Cavanagh, ordered glasses, and picked them up in a couple of weeks. Someone made a mistake, and they had to be sent back. This year I ordered glasses and paid $349 for them. I picked them up on 10/20/23, and I immediately told them the glasses weren't right. They told me to wear them for a week and my eyes would adapt. On 10/28/23, I returned to Greene Eyes because the glasses weren't right. I went back on 11/1/23 for a recheck, the glasses were reordered, and I picked them up on 11/10/23. Again, I told them something was wrong with the glasses, and I was told to wear them for a week. If I pushed them up so far that the nose pads cut into my eyes, I could actually see. This was the same problem with the 1st pair. At this point I asked for a refund, and they gave me $245 back. I was told that $40 was for the eye exam. My copay is $10, but maybe there was something extra in their procedure. I was then told that $55 was kept for a "restocking" fee. They have to be reimbursed for their time and trouble. Nothing said of the fact that I've made 5 trips to their business due to their mistakes. I didn't return the glasses because I had buyers remorse. They made them wrong three times in 2 years. Lesson learned. Save your money. Go somewhere else!! read more

If you like to wait an absurd amoUnt of time for your glasses and/or replacement lenses, then this is the company for you. Being told it will take two weeks to get replacement lenses for my 5yr old son is an eternity, especially when he is supposed to wear them to correct astigmatisms. They don't do anything in house and need to order everything, which is, at best two weeks... sometimes longer. read more

I went to Greene Eyes back in October 2022. The doctor convinced me to get progressives because she said that not having reading glasses on regularly could make my astigmatism worse. I had distance glasses and a pair of reading glasses for small print that I was happy with. I was only getting new glasses because mine were scratched. I didn't want my eyes to get worse so I got a good pair since i assumed I would be wearing them all the time. I am embarrassed to say that I spent 600, but she told me if they didn't work out we would be able to work something out and I usually keep a pair of glasses for 4 or 5 years before needing a new script. It was so horrible, I was sick when I wore them and had trouble walking. I couldn't read or read road signs and was having headaches all the time. They told me this was normal. After several days, I went in and they said the script was off and that the workers out front hadn't adjusted the ear pieces right. The lady out front said that I needed to have them sitting in the exact place I had them when they measured my eyes. I knew that I would never manage that, especially since they slipped down my nose if I sweated so I asked if they could just give me a distance prescription in the frames. They said sure, but when I went to pick them up said it was the same price as progressives since that is what they made originally. I said the doctor had said we would work something out, but they said that wasn't true. After i got these, everything was blurry after a week, but they said this was normal even though I had never had this problem before. I told them I was unhappy and they said they could switch me back to progressives. I decided to try again although I had to wait till after a family member was hospitalized because they made me feel so bad and have trouble driving. The doctor assured me if I wore them, I would love them after two months. Well, I don't. I still can't read street signs, thank goodness for GPS. And I now take them off to read because they give me a headache, but I did try for two months. I have worn glasses for over 20 years, and these are the most expensive pair I have had. They are also the only ones I have had an issue with. Most of the office staff were nice, but one lady was really rude and unhelpful when I went in needing help. The doctor was sort of condescending when I went back, saying she told me up front that somethings wouldn't be as clear, like mid range tv watching. That hasn't been a problem, just driving and regular reading, which is what I need them for. They do work for fine print, just don't really need them for that much. Also, from what I am reading, my astigmatism will not get worse because I don't wear glasses all the time like I was told. Sadly, I am stuck with them because I can't afford to get another pair. read more

Rude and dishonest staff. Glasses were less than a month old and hinge was broke. Took into Green Eyes to get it fixed and I asked a question and got rude response from blonde chic who was not the one originally helping me. I told her they were broke and she said they were made that way. I tried to show her one arm was lose and fixing to fall off and she grabbed them and said "have a nice day", as she shoved them back into my hands. I told her I would not buy from here again, (with insurance, I still paid right at $300). And she said good. I sat in my car talking on my phone and they called the cops and lied stating I was yelling at customers. I had my windows up with my car running and not near the front door. Anyway now i'm not allowed in there..boohoo...and ..they refuse to do anything about my glasses. Now the reflective film is coming off lens. So they took my money and insurance money and will not warranty any of their products. WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY WHO IS DISHONEST, RUDE, AND STEALS YOUR MONEY. Dr. Greene has always been great to my family. Routine contacts - visit was easy and painless and no headaches or crazy charges. But then, when the contacts I had worn for years stopped lasting through the day, she was able to see me quickly and recommend another brand. I usually don't write reviews but I feel that I need to for this place. The staff are the most unprofessional I've ever met. After I ordered my glasses and I waited a few weeks and called to check on the status. A few time it went into voicemail and I left numerous messages but no one ever called back. When I did finally get a hold of someone, they said the person I need to speak with was busy and they would call me back. This happened a few times and not once did anyone ever call me back. It took over a two months before I finally got my glasses. During this time, I had to deal with incompetent staff members who were clueless on what they were doing. Since I got here, I've notice she's been very rude and says everything with an attitude and no smile or eagerness to work. Dr. Tran is my go-to eye doctor hands down. He's really fun to talk to. He's funny, witty, very calm and collected, and likes to have fun. Plus he's super knowledgeable. That is the reason why I've been going to him for over 8 years. I recently had an appointment to have a check up. The receptionist was super nice to me, always smiling too. The wait wasn't too long and the actual appointment was over pretty quickly. It took longer for me to leave because I ordered new frames. All of the employees I talked to were super nice and friendly. They even helped me find information about frames and helped me order them since they weren't carried in the store. 4 stars solid. Would be 5 stars if the phone service was tweaked to be better. read more

Dr. Greene tried to charge me for a "refit" then hung up on me when I said that wasn't fair! I went to see Dr. Greene in May for a contact lense exam. She noticed I was paying for the exam in cash (I have insurance but paying for the exam was just a bit cheaper than the copay). During the exam she commented on how she wished she had more customers who paid cash. She then proceeded to explain to me why she doesn't want to take Medicare/Medicaid but it generates so much business for her that she can't afford to refuse it. I thought this was inappropriate conversation so I changed the subject. After the exam, Dr. Greene explained to me the brand of contacts I had been wearing for the past 10 years (Frequency 55 Toric) was no longer manufactured and she wanted me to try a new brand. I agreed and tried the new brand. However, after wearing the new lenses twice they both tore as I was cleaning them. I called the office to explain what happened and they said they would be happy to give me another pair of trial lenses. The replacements tore after wearing them just once. Obviously, I could not and do not fault her or her office for the quality of the lenses given that she doesn't manufacture the lenses. I do, however; fault her and her office for their egregious (shockingly bad) customer service. I tried to explain to Dr. Mindi Greene that this pair tore and I would like to try a different brand. This is where she tried to charge me again. I said I was not ok with being charged again for something I already paid for. She immediately went on the defensive and I listened to what she had to say before responding. Once I began my response she tried to interrupt me. I politely reminded her that I listened to her side of the story without interruption and I would appreciate the same courtesy. That's when she hung up on me. First of all, they don't even deserve a 1 star. Second of all, front desk staff is always the first impression, patients should always get greeted with a smile, didn't even get that. The black lady was rude, didn't smile once, and gave faces the entire time. The Mexican lady was incompetent, and blamed ME(the customer) for the billing that was done incorrectly. After dealing with this, I remember the previous year Dr.Greene had an attitude and called me a liar for my eyes looking tired(I work on the computer all day, of course my eyes look tired). I've shopped at most of the local places and can say that the optical crew here is competent, careful, and a pleasure to work with. I've had new glasses, re-lensing, and repairs all done here. They were even able to provide cycling style, polarized, Oakleys with progressive lenses - something that others said could not be done. read more

DO NOT BUY GLASSES from the store in this office. It was a horrible experience and I will tell everyone I can about it, starting with you! I went to get my eyes checked *not ever having needed glasses* and found that I did indeed need them for the first time in my life. The doctor that helped me was great, he was very thorough and knowledgeable. Then came the part of ordering my first set of glasses. Very long story short, I was told the glasses I liked were flexible by the girl working there. I proceeded to barely bend them, and the arm broke. I was then told that I was liable for breaking them, and my warranty would be used to get them replaced. I reluctantly agreed, and ordered them. The glasses took over a month to get in, and whoever ordered them, ordered the wrong frames. 2 months later, a high blood pressure test or 10 failed, and being charged even more than I should have, I finally got them. read more

I had such an awful experience with Dr. Prince today that I reported him to the insurance company and the Bryan PD. His behavior was so bad that another patient in the office followed me to my car to tell me he had seen and heard the entire thing and would be reporting Dr. Prince as well. He heard me repeatedly say "Why are you yelling at me?!" and "Why are you screaming at me?!" I have been a patient of Greene Eyes for many years, and in the past I have been quick to refer many of my friends and former TAMU colleagues to Dr. Mindi and the prior optometrists due to the excellent atmosphere, service and professionalism of the Dr.s and of the staff. The same can not be said, however, of Dr. Prince. I saw Dr. Prince in September, 2016, and found him pleasant and reassuring, although I had come to him with a concern about a serious change to my eyesight that was causing me to have double vision. Dr. Prince gave me what I remember thinking was a rather routine exam (although I'm sure he did some extra steps), where he determined that I did not have "double vision", but only had "shadow vision," and explained the difference. To clarify, I responded "No, I actually see 2 of many objects - not just shadows - especially headlights at night, the crawl that goes across on the bottom of tv news channels, and LED lights on the TV...particularly at night or when my eyes are tired." He told me again that I did NOT have double vision, but that my prescription was actually too strong, and he would write a new one. I trusted his judgement, and ordered the new glasses as instructed. By Thanksgiving, my double vision had not improved, but I felt I needed to give Dr. Prince's prescription more time, so I decided to wait until after Christmas. After Christmas, the problem was not improved at all, and the double vision while driving at night was really causing me concern. I thought the problem might be related to medication I was taking, so I contacted my PCP. He suggested I see an eye specialist first, so I contacted Dr. Marr in Bryan who did a VERY thorough evaluation and confirmed that, in fact, I DID have double vision (as I had maintained all along). Fast forward to today: after blood work and even an MRI of my brain to rule out causes by those areas, Dr. Marr's office prescribed prism glasses to force my right eye muscle to stop drifting inward. They were VERY thorough, and I was relieved to finally have a correct diagnoses and treatment plan. Since I have been a patient there for many years, I took the prescription to Greene Eyes to be filled. I called the insurance company (EyeMed) first to see if my new prescription would be covered since it was only 5 mos. since the last new glasses, but that I obviously had been misdiagnosed at that time, and the glasses I received then were not what was really needed to fix my condition. They advised me to go in and speak with the Dr. first, so I did. I first checked to be sure that no other people could hear the word "misdiagnosis". The front counter person was very nice, and directed me to the other counter. That employee said that my glasses from Sept. only had a 90 day guarantee. I said again "But I only got them because I was misdiagnosed", and asked to speak to the manager. The young man called her and summarized my issue (granted, it's a long story!) but I had to remind him "But I was misdiagnosed!", which he did relay. I said I would wait for her return. I asked to speak with Dr. Prince, as I was sure he would remember the situation, and would work with the insurance company if there were any expenses related to having to get these new "prism" glasses. My goal was NOT money, but rather assurance that they would work with the ins. co. since the Sept. diagnosis was a misdiagnosis. Dr. Prince had me come into the exam room and I reiterated my story. I was shocked when he became extremely angry and claimed I had NOT had double vision when I saw him in Sept. I reminded him that yes I did...I TOLD him I was seeing double even after he called it "shadow vision"! He continued to argue, grabbed my prescription and mocked it, and insisted that just because the new prescription said this, I did NOT have double vision when he saw me in Sept. He finally shouted "That's it-we're through here" and that I needed to "get out of here right now." He yelled at me the whole way to the front, and his attitude was so hostile that it actually frightened me, and I left shaking and crying. When he appeared outside a short while later and crossed in front of my car as I was reporting him to the insurance co., I contacted the Bryan PD, who came and spoke with him and with the staff. The end result is that Dr. Prince denied it all, and he and the staff blamed me and said I needed to take my business elsewhere. Fortunately, the other patient saw/heard the entire matter. I am very shocked and aghast by this whole matter, and felt I needed to alert others. read more

I give green eyes doctors and I exams five stars love the service for eye exams but I feel that their optical shops deserves no stars they told me 2-3 weeks for lenses called at two weeks where not in called at 3 weeks still not in could not tell me if they had been shipped told me to wait a few more days called 3 days later and they said their was a mix up with the codes and where sending them in again and told me they would call me and they did a weekish later and said they where being shipped out and it was Monday and would be in by Tuesday or Wednesday called Thursday and they where still not in finally got one pair in Friday told me both where in then came in on Monday and they only had one pair and the other cam in Thursday all in all it took 7 week and not once did they apologize or offer me a discount for it taking so long I will not be coming back to get glasses at the optical shop again but I do love the eye exams. read more

I had an eye exam and glasses made through Greene Eyes a few years ago, and my experience was sub standard. I entered the establishment and stood at the counter for about 15 minutes while staff completely ignored me. They continued to help people who walked in after I arrived but disregarded me until I spoke up. When I did the gal behind the counter(young blonde girl) had a look on her face and a tone that is hard to describe other than inappropriate for a customer. Then once my glasses were ordered it took them 4-5 weeks to get them to me. I am use to getting glasses within 4-5 days of ordering. Then about 6 months into using my glasses they started developing multiple cracks along the edges of the lenses (both left and right lens had cracks) this resulting in the right lens breaking in half. I am 50 years old and have worn glasses since I was 7 and have never had a pair of glasses do this. I suspect they were poorly made or inferior materials were used in their construction. I will never use greene eyes again which is unfortunate because it is so close to my home. read more

I went in Saturday late morning to pickup my new progressive lenses glasses. There was no customer service to greet you when you come in and the male employee didn't notice I was there until a female employee came by a few minutes later. The male employee didn't welcome me still and he got my glasses. He didn't provide customer care since these were my first progressive glasses and showed me how to wear them what to expect in my field of vision. This morning I had to google the glasses to understand them and watch a YouTube video as well. Why couldn't he explained this? If you're open on Saturdays, you should expect great customer service as well. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Greene for about 4+ years now. I've always respected her and her abilities as an optometrist. Unfortunately, her office staff, for the most part, is very disappointing. After my annual exam this year, I decided to go with computer glasses. I waited the usual time for them, and after wearing for a week realized they needed changing. After a communication issue with staff member on scheduling, my glasses were re-measured and allegedly sent off to be remade. After 3 wks I called to see where they were and was told the promised date was another week out. After that week, when I called, I was told the lenses didn't pass quality control, but they'd call the company and promised to call me back. That didn't happen. After 5 1/2 weeks, I'm notified my glasses are in. When I picked them up, I again asked what the big delay was and was told a completely different story that made no sense. Woman wasn't interested in informing me, just getting me out of there. Sadly, I'm ready to find another eye doctor. read more

Okay when working with adults but not when working with children. My son was fidgety when in the examination chair and Dr. Greene turned to me and asked if he had trouble following directions. My son tried to ask questions during the examination about the instrument she was using and she interrupted him and refocused on the exam. THIS is a shame how this place conducts Business .I arrived there Wednesday at 5:15 pm. and as I was walking up to the Store the Employee locked the Door. as I reached the Door it was locked so I knocked because the Business hours state they close at 6:00pm.i guess I knocked for a good 5 minutes before one of the employee's came from the side door rudely telling me they were already closed .and she rudely told me that they had seen a lot of kids today and they were going to close early.I explained, I was almost to the door when it was locked and that I didn't have any kid they needed to see. I just needed to drop off my sons glasses to be repaired.so she let me finally go in to drop them off and as I entered I noticed all the staff in the front area looked angry.so after I finished as I was walking out the door,I told myself life is to short to deal with this kind of behavior from a place of business and with that one employee complaining to me about seeing kids,well she sure don't have to worry about seeing mine anymore.and that's a FACT. read more

The woman at the glasses desk was snippy with me. I'm going back to Dr. Shini on Rock Prairie Rd. It's a longer drive, but those people know how to take good care of their customers. They were very friendly and the glasses were great! Got the first pair a year ago. Got a replacement pair about 6 months ago when those got really scratched. No charge as I had the scratch coating! I would definitely recommend them! read more
