Jazziacks does a great job with the kids that they teach. The teachers are dedicated to their craft…read moreand expect the students to pay attention and do the work. However, their goal is to make sure the kids have fun as well. I've never heard the dancers in my family say "I have to go to dance." It's always "let's go to dance." The focus is on the experience the kids are having and not on winning trophies for 'Madame.' Don't get we wrong, they sign up for competitions and do very well. But it's about the kids competing for themselves. The parents of dancers all seem to feel the same way and have the same laid back, supportive vibe that lets the kids decide the level of hype they want to work at. Which makes it great fun for us parents. There are no divas here. So if you want to dance, regardless of your age, give Jazziacks a call.

The communication at this school is very poor and they do not appear to care for fathers too much…read more At the last picture day, fathers were informed that they could not be in the changing room with their child, even though all students changed behind screens and this was never brought up to dads in prior years. They didn't even give fathers an alternative place to wait, they were basically like, "Get out". They also made this announcement at the end of the recital. They did not even give fathers a designated place to wait for their children or a meeting place when they were done changing. These policies do not appear to account for single caregivers who are male. Very sexist and thoughtless. I know it is not just me that feels this way about the policy as I have known other father's of students there who said they felt alienated about the policy and also from the school in general as well. Instructor Nicole Rizzo appeared to be cold whenever I encountered her. She never smiled at me other other parents and seems short, condescending and rude. The whole atmosphere around the school seemed cliquey. Also, their business initials are a joke, MDA. Don't they know that when people hear those initials they immediately think Muscular Dystrophy Association?

She withdrew soon after and the company did nothing to help recoup any of the $650 that they took from us. Did not return follow up emails and avoided answering very direct and specific questions. Would not consider this to be a reputable company.

I hired 4 lyrical dancers from Urbanity Dance to perform freestyle solos as part of a surprise…read moreflash mob proposal for my partner, and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. The dancers were super professional, dressed elegantly, and really breathed life into the song that the orchestra (hired from a separate company) played. I paid a flat rate per dancer, which included the performance and 50 minutes of rehearsal time before the proposal to give the dancers a chance to rehearse with the orchestra since they had not worked together before; Urbanity Dance was worth every penny and then some! The final performance was exactly what I had envisioned, and I especially appreciated that the dancer who performed last (Joy) finished her solo with a "lyrical invitation" for my partner and I to follow her to the predetermined proposal spot - this aligned perfectly with the music as it was fading out, and allowed for perfect photography/videography coverage - plus the two of us were in such a daze as everything was happening that we definitely needed the clear guidance Joy provided. Big big thank you to my POC, Cayley, and each of the dancers who made this possible: Genny, Katie, Haley, and Joy.
