Anyway, I came here this morning for the Total Barre class and it was a very good workout! The teacher, Stephanie, explained things well and the pace of the class was good for beginners and for those with more muscle. I enjoyed that it combined aspects of ballet and pilates to make the class a challenging workout. I will be trying Stephanie's Pilates mat class on Wed morning! Also, the class's studio is large brightly light, with wall mirrors, sprung wood flooring and all the accessories you can imagine. The actual facility is decorated like a little feminine fairy-tale with lots of purples, pinks, stars, and tutus!

They didn't even give fathers an alternative place to wait, they were basically like, "Get out". They also made this announcement at the end of the recital. They did not even give fathers a designated place to wait for their children or a meeting place when they were done changing. These policies do not appear to account for single caregivers who are male. Very sexist and thoughtless. I know it is not just me that feels this way about the policy as I have known other father's of students there who said they felt alienated about the policy and also from the school in general as well. Instructor Nicole Rizzo appeared to be cold whenever I encountered her. She never smiled at me other other parents and seems short, condescending and rude. The whole atmosphere around the school seemed cliquey. Also, their business initials are a joke, MDA. Don't they know that when people hear those initials they immediately think Muscular Dystrophy Association?

She took classes at 2 studios near us and wasn't happy at either one for different reasons. She stopped taking classes in 10th and 11th grade, but missed it so much that this year, her senior year at high school, I tried to find another studio that had older students, had a passion for dance but she wasn't at a disadvantage for not being experienced in ballet. My daughter loves lyrical, contemporary and modern dance. She absolutely has loved going this year to Miss Laurene's, and constantly tells me that she has learned more skills here in the short period of time than in her 13 years of dancing. The room is huge and fun to dance in, it used to be The Paper Store and so dancing the full length has a freedom to it. And lastly, but most importantly, she truly loves the personalities of both the other students and teacher. Everyone is very welcoming and Miss Laurene truly wants her students to not only learn skills but also enjoy what they are doing. My daughter keeps telling me why couldn't we have found this dance studio sooner. I can't recommend enough to try this studio!

However, their goal is to make sure the kids have fun as well. I've never heard the dancers in my family say "I have to go to dance." It's always "let's go to dance."
