During our March 2025 family trip to New River Gorge National Park, we wanted a classic, cozy cabin…read moreclose to the action, and Country Road Cabins delivered. We stayed in the Black Bear Cabin, and it was everything we hoped for. The cabin's location was ideal: less than 10 minutes from the New River Gorge Bridge, tucked away at the end of a private gravel road, and surrounded by over an acre of rolling mountain meadow (which was ideal for tossing a football with my son). The cabin itself boasts a well-stocked kitchen with modern appliances, a 50" smart TV for our movie nights, a stackable washer and dryer, a wrap-around porch for coffee while watching the fog lift, and even a hot tub to soak away the day's adventures. The cabin had three comfortably furnished bedrooms, featuring a luxurious king in the master with an en suite bath, plus a queen and twin beds in the other rooms, the cabin comfortably accommodated our family. We also enjoyed the rustic charm of the gas fireplace and the modern yet cozy furniture throughout. When we encountered one maintenance issue, the service staff was very responsive and resolved it quickly, keeping our vacation uninterrupted. The cabin's central location made it easy to explore other local attractions like Pie's & Pints, the Escape-A-Torium, the Bridge Walk, and plenty of nearby hikes. We left with lasting memories and a promise to return soon. Country Road Cabins will definitely be our go-to spot on our next visit to the area!

I liked the Tuscany tree house for the most part but I feel like maybe a loft as a second bedroom…read morethan the couch. Plus fairy lights going across the entrance, bridge, front porch and back porch the outside of the treehouse I was kinda disappointed at first looking at the outside. Also you all need to rearrange everything because that bathroom was so small and the sink was in the bedroom instead of the bathroom plus the bathroom light switch was in the kitchen?? One of the bathroom doors wouldn't lock. Also when someone is walking on the bridge the whole house shakes. Other than that it was a nice place to stay at for a couple of days!

We have stayed at Opossum Creek over the last 2 Thanksgiving holidays in 2011 and 2012. We plan to…read morestay there again this year :) Being from Florida, we enjoy the change of scenery, the crisp clean air, and the possibility of seeing a little snow!! Thanksgiving at OCR is quickly becoming a tradition for our large family. Having the option to stay in a well appointed, large cabin for a reasonable price, without all the 'hub bub' and rat race going on around you is a treasure. Finding a place that can house a family of 7 and no one having to sleep on the floor is a real treat for us! We feel like we are at 'home', and can really relax! We enjoy all that nature provides via the property (plenty of places to explore!!) surrounding OCR, the State Parks, and the New River Gorge area. A quick trip into Fayetteville certainly does prove it is the "Coolest little town in America". Plenty of places to choose to eat at, should you decide not to cook your own dinner back at the cabin. We typically cook at the cabin, as it is cost efficient, and the kids can play until the last little bit of sun dips behind the mountains. One of our favorite things to do is to roast marshmallows over the fire pit, then jump in the hot tub to relax! Each time we have been there, even though there are others staying in the other cabins, it has been so very quiet and relaxing. It is a comfortable, safe place to allow our kids to roam and go 'adventuring' as they call it. Looking forward to many more visits to OCR, and many more memories to add to our existing ones!

Anna was very welcoming and even baked us cookies as a welcome present. The cabin was spacious enough for us two, and the hot tub was the main attraction. We loved the fireplace, especially in 20-30 degree weather, sitting by the fireplace reading was our nightly routine. There are a lot of hikes and attractions nearby to do during the day, so no worries about getting bored. The cabin had all the utilities we could need, plenty of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and everything you could possibly need in the fully working kitchen. Overall we spent a very relaxing week and can't wait to come back when it's warmer!

We rented a houseboat from 5/14-17, there were 4 of us. I have a lot of experience with VRBO type…read morerentals. The houseboat was in good working order, had all the amenities dishes, toaster, TV, Vcr, 2 staterooms with double bed, two additional berths with double beds and the couch pulls out to a double bed. The boat was pretty simple to operate. Cell Service we had service in two of closest coves to the marina , AT&T no Verizon. We didn't have any complainants .. other then poor weather. You just have to have reasonable expectations. This is glorified camping on the water. We had a great time three generations of boys getting together to do a little fishing while we ate good, played some cards, watched a couple of movies, explored the lake. Cons: The lake is allegedly dry, but it seems to be one of those don't ask don't tell type things. Tips: Bring some work gloves when you are tying the boat to shore there are a few sticker bushes etc, bring a small hatchet same issue to use when tying the boat off. I would also have a pair of jeans for the same purpose. next year we will probably bring a small dingy to pull behind to do a little fishing from.
