In brief, I was married for 10 years, had a child, and had custody and alimony issues. I hired Cobos Law Firm based on the following facts: * local attorney so he has relationship with local judges * small but professional firm so i don't pay top dollar for a huge staff * responsive straight to the point question/answer not just a YES man. As a young business owner I truly believe in customer service and honesty. We are all here to make money: I get that, but when "shopping around" for the right fit attorney i came to a conclusion that no friend, and no referral will give me any $$ breaks, therefore i did my own research and picked Mr. Cobos based on the reviews i saw online, the fact that he is local, and the fact that he replied to customer reviews on social platforms himself, which showed me that he cares, and he is approachable. Sure enough when i had my initial appointment he gave me more information than the friends' attorneys or anybody else i was referred to. Plus his professional services rate was by far lower than the one I was quoted by two other firms. I hired him on the spot and do not regret! Some key points I wanted to mention for all who are looking to hire a divorce attorney in NJ: - listen to your attorney and don't ask stupid questions because you will just waste his time and yours = $$ - do research online about the main steps in the divorce, timing, preparation, lingo - be cautious of the word "motion" that means additional $$ - read online about the usual steps/phases of any divorce case, it really goes just like that and the sooner you and your spouse can find the mutual ground the more money both of you will save; try to have a sit down with your spouse to agree at least on something before you hire an attorney or proceed with any cross motions, if you do come up with something write it down, show it to your lawyer, don't sign anything until then. - very little changes after ESP panel so make sure or at least try to reach an agreement with your spouse right before that because if you don't get divorced before or at ESP there will be 3-4 months of wait until another hearing, which means continuous retainer - record and take pictures with your children every time you are with them, keep text messages from your ex, keep everything on record, it may be helpful later - do not be afraid to call the cops if situation gets out of hand during the divorce, again it will keep everyone at check - there is free help and consultations in your own county, do your research but just prepare yourself for a lot of work on your part if you decide to go the free route. To conclude all of the above: as all of us being extremely busy, and a lot of times having to work overtime just to provide I still highly recommend hiring a professional to handle divorce case. The Cobos Law Firm was a great find for me and I am proud to say that after 10 years of emotional rollercoaster marriage I am now happily divorced! Thank you Mr. Cobos!

And, prior to…read morethis recent experience, that has been and still is my view of the firm, though I hold it somewhat cautiously after this experience. I do want to share a particularly discomforting experience I had with the firm. Let me preface this with an observation that legal Intakes can be hit or miss. I Spoke to a lady there for about a minute who did not give her name or title, e.g. sounded like a secretary. She Was extremely rude, rushed and rejected a potential case as if too busy with other matters on her desk to take on a new case. It definitely did not sound like an attorney which was unusual for this firm to reject a case before attorney consideration. That is fine - if you have too much going on and are over-loaded with cases, it makes sense to reject a new case. I wouldn't want it any other way. But at least discuss the reasons therefore and give a referral to another qualified attorney who may be knowledgeable in the type of injury involved. To be fair, there are other intake attorneys there who are quite good which is why I refer to Rosemarie first. It was just the luck of the draw that this secretary happened to answer the phone and gave such a superficial rejection of a case I referred to them as a courtesy because of the positive experiences I had with their attorneys in the past. I'll give them another chance in the future, but my experience does confirm the experience of another opinion - writer, Lynda H. (8/25/23) albeit this is a one-off experience for me. I will cut them some slack on this one, but this is just to give a heads up to future referrers to be prepared for a similar experience and realize it is not customary for this firm. I referred the case to another excellent PI attorney who spent nearly an hour on the phone with me discussing the legal and medical intricacies and probabilities related to the case. Soooo...
