A court appointed attorney was assigned to my case which was a nightmare. She wanted me to accept the offer from the District Attorney which would have been disadvantageous to me and my career in many ways. It was obvious that I was going down the wrong path with this attorney so I asked the judge to remove her from my case and appoint another attorney. The court appointed Mike Schillinger. The first time I met Mike, I was sitting in court and he came over and introduced himself as my new attorney. He appeared confident, easy going and professional. They gave me the complete wrong information on how to file for a US citizenship for my daughter who was born abroad they gave me the complete wrong information they gave me the wrong forms to fill out they told me that I had to purchase a money order of $1171 finally went all the documentation and forms are done I received my appointment at the US Embassy and the US Embassy agent out of his mouth to my face said that this law firm scammed me out of my money, they denied my application because according to the US law to be able to transfer your citizenship to your child you need five years of proof of living income and status in the US prior to your child's birth. This law firm states that you only need 1 year of proof prior to your child's birth which is completely false information... On September 2022 the US Embassy denied my daughters application for US citizenship transfer through me because I did not have enough proof of living in the US even though the law firm said I only needed one year the US Embassy said you need five years. So finally when I called them to let them know that my application was denied because they gave me the wrong information they said that they did not provide this information to me that they said that they they did initially provide this information but that they sent out new information and that I should've followed their instructions but they never told me in the first place at the first information that they gave me was wrong they never said that I had the clear documentation communication between the law from an eye through email and through text and it clearlt shows the wrong information they gave to me. The first information they gave me all the forms and documents I needed to fill out and send with proof as well as a money order oF $1171 was asked for by the law firm and when I got to the US Embassy they said they did not need this and that I should've never been told to get this money order for the US Embassy I even have the proof when they asked for it and then later on in our conversations they said I didn't need it but that was already after my case was denied... So who do we listen to a law firm that takes money from you or the United States Embassy? Anyways I just disputed the transactions that they did on my account through my bank . my bank gave me back all my money but now the law firm is trying to get that money back even though they provided me with absolutely zero service because my application was denied And the wrong information was given. I believe this law firm just tries to hold onto their customers as long as they cancel they can take out as much money as they possibly can . I didn't speak to him again until the day before the court appearance. He informed me that he was able to get one ticket dropped, but there would be no points on my record. I'll admit I was disappointed that I had to plead guilty to two tickets, but I was still very grateful for no points. On the day of the court appearance, it was another attorney that I never spoke to before. He spoke with the prosecutor just before court began. I pled guilty and had to pay $230 in fines. Considering the $450 surcharge for 6 points & fines over $400, it was worth it to hire an attorney. Admittedly, I could have spoken with the prosecutor and negotiated a plea before seeing the judge.
