We do the every other week pick ups amazing how our trash each week is less with all of the material that is acceptable to put in the compost not going into the trash! Super easy to do, with bin and the bags provided. Fill it up and set it out on your curb on your day. We keep the bin in our kitchen there is no odor when the lid is on and no bugs! I have forgotten to put it out in time a couple times and simply called and Greg was kind enough to come by again bc he was still in the neighborhood! I have had nothing but pleasant interactions with Greg, he's a hardworking man who is out in all seasons of the year to provide service to his customers. The GWI website provides different subscriptions for different size bins which is very helpful as a college student when you're in a dorm! Last week I attended the Broad Ripple Farmers Market, which is fantastic. I was with a friend and her two kids, 3 and 5. After the kids ate, I picked up their remains as well as a used diaper and went to look for a trash can. I thought it was odd there weren't any by the tables and chairs where people sit and eat. The kids decided to come with me so I awkwardly held the trash to my chest and walked holding both kids hands as it was a crowded place. I found a tent at the front that had a trash can up front. It happened to be the Green with Indy booth, although I did not know it at the time. I quickly threw the paper plates with food scraps in the compost bin and the diaper in the trash can next to it then grabbed both kids hands again. A guy at the booth stood up and told me that diapers aren't recyclable. I chuckled because... obviously... and the kids and I start walking away. The man raises his voice now and tells me "no, literally diapers aren't recyclable and to come back and get my diaper". I have no idea why he is still talking to me so I give him a confused look and keep walking. At this time, I am about three booths from his now weaving in and out of a crowd with two little ones. He is now yelling that I better get my diaper or he is going to bring it to me and come back and he will show me, he sounds really angry. At this time I realize maybe I put the diaper in the wrong bin??? I did not see any of the cans labeled. Now I am a bit upset and scared especially since I have the kids. Still walking away he comes up to me, quite aggressively! As I turn around to him, he is very tall and very intimidating. He is quite literally in my face as I turn around. He is repeatedly shoving the diaper in my face saying "I told you I would bring it to you, now take your diaper! This is my business". Honestly, I am not sure what I said or didn't say, or how I reacted. I was in complete shock. I hurried and ushered the kids to a nearby booth so I wasn't alone. He screamed after me "and don't come back"! Another booth owner witnessed the whole thing and apologized profusely to me that that had happened, he said he was going to report the incident. Three other kind people stopped me and stated similar things and a few said "he always does that". This event occurred by the business owner, Gregory Walton. I do not believe he should be allowed to be at a free farmers market where everyone is welcome. I truly hope this will be rectified and he will be pulled from public consumption in the future. This event was truly triggering and it was obvious he does similar things like this to other people. As much as I love a company like this stands for in terms of the environment, I will not support them in the future even if that means carrying my own trash home. I am also not sure why that is the only receptacle at the whole event. Do not support this business! Look at all of the one star reviews this man has! read more

GWI has been great for both my home and work-place composting. Extra business pickups have been easily accommodated and delays have been well-communicates. It's easy peasy. Collect your compost - I keep the container in my kitchen - once a week tie the top of the bag and pop the container to the curb. Greg picks up the bag and takes my kitchen scraps and dryer lint to be turned into bigger and better things. Rinse and repeat. read more

Since I could not find any service area information on the GWI website, I emailed to ask if they served Noblesville. Their response, 3 days later, was YES they served Hamilton County, Noblesville, and to order a start-up kit to get it started. I ordered my start-up kit on Jan 20 and received a confirmation email and welcome email, but zero information as to dates for delivery of the bin or scheduled compost pick-up. Three days later, on Jan 23 I sent an email asking for this information. I received the reply 4 days later stating that the bin would be delivered on Friday Jan 31, with compost pick-ups scheduled for Fridays starting Feb 7. I waited all day Jan 31 and did not receive said bin. Once again, I emailed the company and their response: After reviewing your location, we are unable to expand our route into your area. Your starter kit purchase amount has been refunded in full. Guess I'll take my compost to Whole Foods... read more

If I could give this company less than a star, I would. The customer service has been close to non-existent and extremely unprofessional. I was excited to start composting and ordered my 'start up kit'. It did not arrive week after week. After I kept reaching out to the customer service, Greg Walton, I received extremely rude and unhelpful bits of information regarding my order. I was charged for the starter kit and have yet to receive it four weeks later. I have requested a refund and have not received that yet, either. When i reached out asking information on why they couldn't deliver it to my apartment complex, I was told that since I was a residential order and they had four other larger corporation orders and a 'meeting with a mayor' that I was simply not on their radar. I would have been sympathetic to this small startup had Greg not been so rude and unhelpful. I hope there is another Indianapolis composting service that I can use to make the world a better place, since this company is doing the exact opposite. If you are looking for a composting business that aligns its' mission statement with high morals and integrity, this is not the company for you. read more

While communication has been a bit lacking, Green with Indy folks pick up my compost on a regular basis and let me know when pick up will be delayed. The service is effective and efficient for me instead of having to deal with composting myself. It is just another way to show I care for our environment and its sustainability for future generations. Definitely worth the small monthly cost. read more
