The park is well-kept, with clean facilities and well-maintained play equipment, and there were no signs of any hazards or transients. Green Valley Park - Parks Near Me - Henderson, Nevada

I wasn't supposed to be here. I was passing by and somehow things turned bad, and had to stay here for several hours. It was weird, because I now have a history of vertigo and I experienced this acute case while making a forced stop here in Green Valley Park. It was in the middle of the day around 10:30am when I approached the park after crossing the street. I managed to find a park bench where I basically try to ride it out. It was one of those things were community Parks are a great blessing, as well as a necessary need for those who are like me who need that place of refuge. From what I saw, the park itself was very beautiful, and had the necessary amenities and thankfully, there was restroom facilities that was open for public use. with that said, I basically use an empty park bench, while random individuals were playing basketball on the basketball court near the bench I was trying to recuperate at. Thankfully everything was decent but not really. It was nice to have this downtime while vacationing in Las Vegas / Henderson, Nevada, but it probably would have been better than elsewhere rather than lying down at a park bench here at green valley community park. It is what it is, and that was my experience here. Even though I observed the park and experienced the park in its basic form, my plans here were needed to be adjusted. Unfortunately, for me, these plans were derailed because of my ongoing battle with Vertigo. Green Valley community park itself was maintained beautifully by the local city parks department, I'm guessing. For the most part, though, I don't regret coming here, but it is a great comfort knowing that it is here for everybody and anybody that is local area or just passing by. After regaining some form of sanity during after my vertigo relapse, I attempted to call an Uber to get me to the hotel so I can check in and hopefully sleep it off and return back to normal. And that basically what happened I returned back to normal the next day after a very good nights rest. The overall experience here at Green Valley community Park was good. I am just thankful that I happen to be upon this park with my attack of vertigo happened and lucky that there was no way there so I can have my privacy. Even though help was probably good also, but privacy is good also along with time to have it pass . I enjoyed the park bench pretty much because I could stretch out the entire length of my body onto the bench without having to shorten my legs to fit on it. There are some water fountains next to the restroom facility, but I did not use that at the time I just wanted the spinning to stop and can progress With my rest of the day. But that didn't happen at least during my time here at the park. Park itself is kind of small sense, but it is really nice to have a part that serves this part of the Henderson community. Not to say, I enjoyed myself here, but, I wanted my vertigo to stop, so that was my number one priority at the time. I never knew having that having good site was. Sucks to have it taken away all your life you're expected to have good everything until it's gone. yeah, it is what it is especially when you know life is not always too many people. I enjoy the fact that the park itself was private, and that it is in a modest residential area. Because it was during the day while I was here, on a Thursday, it was peaceful, and I could just have my privacy to deal with my number one concern of the day. With all that said, best bed is to come here when there is plenty of people so you can enjoy the social aspect of having a committee park here. Many things to do in this park, including walking the perimeter or playing basketball at the central basketball court Along the main road. It sucks for me to experience the park this way, but I'm come to be grateful for Parks in general not just here in Las Vegas/Henderson, but generally speaking. Green Valley Park is located on 370 N Pecos Road in Henderson, NV. Like our mini parks, they are admission free. No money necessary to come here. Unless, of course, you are wanting to find a day on approve equipment or something. I arrived here by bus. And left in an Uber. The bus route I use was route 111 which was pretty cheap considering I use The $5 for 24 hours transit pass for visitors. For parking purposes, best bet would be available street parking since I'm not sure if there is actual private parking for a community park. For what it's worth, my experience here is a reminder that for anything these days. Whether you're local here or there Here or just passing through, come on by. This might be the gem you're looking for. I know I wasn't looking, but it was a gem for me during my struggle with vertigo. A prereview note: I am reviewing this park as a local neighborhood park in which it is a park that is designed to serve the immediate neighborhood. ........ My review of Green Valley Park.      Established in 1987, Green Valley Park may be the oldest park in the City of Henderson. Located off of Pecos Road and to the south of the Union Pacific Railroad, this is a park that has  generally been serving the immediate residential neighborhood. There is no parking lot. If you are traveling from outside the neighborhood, there is parking alongside Millcroft Drive and a bus stop. When this small park came to life during Ronald Regan's presidency, I do not think that the park planners had any idea that there would be this huge trail originating from Railroad Pass called the Union Pacific Railroad Trail, and that in the beginning of 2022, it would be extended to Pecos Road, and that Green Valley Park would serve as a westernmost trailhead for it. With this very new trailhead and word of mouth spreading about the Union Pacific Railroad Trail, Green Valley Park has the potential to turn into a regional park.     It was by means of hiking along the freshly paved Union Pacific Railroad Trail extension that I arrived at Green Valley Park. Although, I passed by it many many times, this would be my first time stepping foot in the park.    When I review parks, I take into consideration the condition that the park is in, safety, and level of graffiti. From my tour of the park, the only graffiti I observed was some writing on the picnic tables. If I was writing a "state of condition" report card, I give Green Valley Park an "A." As far as safety, I did not see any sketchy characters. What I did see was a man sitting at the picnic table, a mother and daughter at the playground, and locals walking their dogs. Speaking of dogs, I did not see any dog waste.    A few hundred feet after leaving the Union Pacific Railroad Trail, I approached the park from its northwest corner off Pecos Road by the Union Pacific Railroad Trail. My first sight was the golf course green open grass spread under mature trees that have aged gracefully since 1987. These mature trees provide an abundance of shade. When Henderson is baking like an oven in the brutal summer months, shade is very important. If I lived in the immediate neighborhood, this would make a nice spot for me to enjoy a picnic. Walking on the grass parallel to Pecos Road, I took in the abundant dandelions. When I walked closer to the southwest corner by Millcroft Drive, I sat down for a minute at the shaded picnic table.    From the southwest to southeast corner, the walking path also serves as a walking path for Millcroft Drive. There is even a United States mail box. Looking to the left (south), I took in the green grass reaching towards the fence bordering the Union Pacific Railroad, a basket ball court, baseball field, and restrooms facility. The restroom facility, by the way was clean. At the southeast corner is the playground which I would of enjoyed if I were forty years younger. From the southeast corner and along the parks eastern wall bordering houses then along the northern border with the Union Pacific Railroad, I walked along the walking path. With a fence bordering the east and north wall the scenery that featured the baseball field, distant basketball field, and open grass was to the left. By itself, this is by no feat a major walk, however, in conjunction with the regional Union Pacific Railroad Trail, it is a walk. And I would return to that walk after leaving Green Valley Park.     Because Green Valley Park is really a neighborhood park to the degree that there isn't a parking lot, I would not go out of my way to go here. However, since it is the westernmost trailhead of the Union Pacific Railroad Trail, I can see myself returning here as part of a hike. read more

I love this little park as a safe, cool place to walk my dog (at least 4 times a week). I've never had any problems there, the shade trees and grass make it comfortable even on the hottest days, and (despite what others have said) I've only VERY rarely found evidence of dog owners not picking up after their pets. Visitors are friendly and the staff keeps the park very clean and well manicured. read more

Calm spot right by railroad tracks. Big field, baseball, basketball courts, huge jungle gym that has a large blue tarp over it for those severe sunny days, swings, places to run around and walk the perimeter, a spot to grill at and have a party. This park also has a bathroom. Parking is easy and directly accessible to the park. (Street parking) in a quiet area. read more

Another green and shady park in Vegas. Cemented sidewalk perimeter. Baseball diamond, restrooms, kiddie playground area and covered picnic tables. Well maintained grassy area with mature shady trees. Lots of families and people walking their dogs. read more

The park is well maintained by grounds keeper. He does a great job. It is clean and always nicely manicured. Very nice park to visit.

This park is small, but it has the key items: *nice playground *lots of shade with some old trees (I think it's been here since the 70s!) *baseball field *plenty of grass for lounging/playing with the dog *within running distance of my house! I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but it's perfect for a neighborhood park. Also note that it's supposed to be haunted, but I've never seen anything interesting! read more

The park is great and safe, never any creepers hanging around. We play basketball and bring our RC cars, just a great place. The negative, LAZY dirtbag pet owners come and walk their dogs and don't bother to clean up after them! If I see them, I will call them out, it's like everything, people just ruin it for the people that follow the rules!! read more

This is a nice park in Henderson I walk to daily from my house. They have basketball courts, a small baseball diamond and a jungle gym for the kiddos or those kids at heart. I saw a few adults on those things - not gonna lie, looked like fun. Puppy dog loves it since mushrooms grow on the ground so that's a constant project watching her. Coming during the day it's cool since there's plenty of trees for shade and there's lots of grass well now that school is well. The singing birds and grass, trees kinda makes you feel like you're not in the desert anymore which is nice. The reason I gave it 4 stars was that it's right next to the street and the traffic's pretty quick so I always make sure that I have the dog firmly on the leash. The best part about this park is that it's close to my house and easy to get to so I'm gonna keep coming! read more

Wow, who would have thought you could post a review on a park! This is our neighborhood park so we have visited on multiple occasions. The park has a children's playground complete with padding, a basketball court and a baseball diamond (which usually stays pretty busy with league play). There is about 4 covered picnic tables and a few others scattered around the park and plenty of well maintained grass to run around on. A side walk runs around the entire outer edge of the park with benches and doggy bag stations periodically. I've not had to use the restrooms, but I've seen them being maintenance and looked after. The only real downside to this park is the parking. I usually don't have a problem since I live in such close proximity, but there is not a parking lot. The only parking is located on the street and within the residential neighborhood. It can become very clustered, especially if there is a baseball game being played. read more

This is a quaint little park which is nice to go for a walk with the kids or the dog. There is no enclosed area for the dogs to run around off the leash but fun for them for sure. The location is great to if you like having an easy to get to park to stop into. read more

Whenever I'm visiting family we come to a Sunset Park. We especially enjoy the dog park here which is relatively clean, supplies water, and no fights between animals that I've seen. We love watching the dog runs and are convinced this is like Disneyland foe our dogs. read more

We take the dogs there to walk and meet other owners. So nice to stroll around and see all different kinds of people.

There is a small Park right near the corner of Pecos and Warm Springs you have a jungle gym for the kiddos and a baseball diamond that looks nice for the kids as well but it didn't look like a full size baseball diamond 4 high school kids or grown ups. Plus it didn't look like it has lights on it so you wouldn't want to play at night. It's pretty small park but it was nice to go for a little walk around and we sat down and had lunch and that was that was cool. read more

This is my favorite park to bring my dog. It's small but I have gotten to know the people who frequent there with their dogs and now it feels like we are friends. It's nice and shaded with plenty of room for my little dog to run around. It's the perfect location since I live close. read more

Such a cute small shady well kept park and playground. Great to walk your dog to. Basketball hoops and baseball field too!
