We decided to try this restaurant out of convenience as we were in the area. Order.Was put on your phone number instead of the name?No big deal. Even though my wife gave them my name. Typical Chinese takeout spot. Go to generic menu open signage.. Person was friendly. And the order was done when I got there and ready for pick up. Chicken on a stick was a little dry. It was our first time coming here after living in the area for a few years. My wife and I ordered the general tso chicken lunch special and it was terrible. It's like they cut it into the skinniest and smallest chicken pieces before tossing in batter and frying until it's non-existent. Trying to save a buck? Rice was edible. Service was not very polite. As Matt P. noted, it's a typical strip mall Chinese joint. However, it's about the only one around on this side of town unless you go out to Newberry proper or to one around Haile Plantation or Westgate. The interior is what you'd expect for this sort of place -- small and fairly plain though they do have an awesome lacquered wall hanging depicting an underwater scene with ocean animals which is pretty sweet. The menu is also very typical and they have all the Chinese-American standards on it for you. They'll say food will be ready in 15 to 20 minutes and normally it's on the lower side of whatever they say. They're pretty speedy much of the time, actually. Service is polite and prompt, especially if the young woman with glasses is working. As for the food, it' fine: I cook a lot of Chinese food and am picky but for what this is, it's good. Maybe not quite on par with Gator China at Westgate which I would contend is the best fast Chinese take-out in town, but still certainly passable and fair prices, too. A tip in general with such places: I'd go mostly for chicken dishes, because roast pork can get dried out and beef is often not great cuts and pretty tough. The chicken normally is going to be the most-tender meat and provided in the most-generous of amounts as it's also less-expensive. read more

This is the only "Chinese" option in Jonesville. In the town of Newberry, there is a buffet which will not be named but has a horrible track record of health citations and bad Yelp reviews on its own. Green Tree is fast. It's typical Americanized style Chinese food. My hubs is a fan of the orange or general Tso chicken. I prefer lo mein or beef & broccoli. The homemade brewed cold tea is exceptionally good especially if you don't feel super hot that day. The prices are fair as well and the service is always fine. read more

Aweful food!! The food here is by far the worst I've had in a long! Taste is consistent from yesterday's/old food that was just heated/microwaved. The people working here are equally rude. Asked for a plastic spoon, the lady rudely said that a fork has already been put in the to-go bag. I requested if I could still get a plastic spoon. The response was anything but polite and demeanor was as if she was doing me a favor. Finally, although I didn't feel like asking for anything else, I asked for red chili paste. Great take out style Chinese food! Probably the best we've ever had from this style of restaurant. Great prices too - $20 is more than enough to feed 2 and have leftovers. The food here is terrible. We ordered the bourbon chicken, general tso's, beef & broccoli, and wontons. This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The wontons were so chewy we could hardly eat them. I tried the general tso's and it tasted like it was all breading so I cut up about half of the portion, and not a single one had chicken- they were all just breading. The worst part was I brought it back up to them to show them, thinking maybe I got a bad batch, or something happened... the person working told me no one else has ever complained. I asked for a refund ...we paid $10.59 plus tax, and she refunded me only $9.00 because she said you didn't bring the egg roll back (it was a combination selection) The food was all so bad I didn't plan to give them a second chance, but after that experience, I will never go back. read more

Food was ok, it any better than any other Chinese food. I was disappointed that after I paid, no mention of any condiments, soy sauce or duck sauce. The great places actually include it or ask. It my fault for being forgetful, but they have a vested interest that I enjoy my food, so here's where they let themselves down. read more

The Green Tree is my favorite Chinese take out in Gainesville. Cashew chicken is incredible. Here is a best kept secret: On the diet section on the menu is steamed chicken with vegetables. Paired with white sauce this is a healthy delicious meal. I recently ordered fried chicken wings for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised how flavorful they were.
