My friend was doing a deliver in this area and found this Chinese Buffet and we had to give it a try today. It was about 20mins from my house and the drive wasn't bad at all. The restaurant is located on the right side of the plaza where Hitchcocks's Grocery is located. We were greeted at the door and shown to our seat. The restaurant was clean, and had the slight dim "buffet" style lighting look. The lunch special ended around 3pm, and we arrived around 2:20pm and they were still bringing out fresh food. There were plenty of options on the buffet table including tasty deserts. Our waiter was nice and the service was very pleasant. 10/10 will visit again. Small tip: the women's bathroom was out of hand soap but the waiter was nice enough to let me use their kitchen soap to wash my hands. That was very kind of her. read more

My wife and I ate lunch at the Red Wok in Newberry, Florida, yesterday after church. We both chose to have our food from the buffet. They have a large selection of what you would expect at a Chinese style restaurant. I decided on pepper chicken, a few noodles, with green beans and some additional proteins. It tasted fairly fresh, hot, and appealing to the eye. There is a rather large selection of Asian style dishes, with a spattering of western foods too. Dawn, is fond of sushi, and she said the sushi bar was decent. The service is always above average and prompt; the dining area is always clean, though the decor is just a little dated and predictable. The staff and servers are constantly cleaning, rotating out freshly cooked foods, and checking on guest. Depending on the time you come in, the buffet can get hit pretty hard during lunch, and there may be a wait for certain buffet items. On Sundays, there is a lot seafood on the buffet, which elevates the prices a bit higher, than compared to where they are during the rest of the week. Generally, the food is good and comparable to other similar restaurants in the area. The prices during the week at lunch are fair and reasonable. I look forward to the occasional trips to the Red Wok, and will visit them a few times during the year. read more

They have the best tasting sushi in the area as well as some of the best tasting dishes, always fresh, nothing ever sits out long enough to go cold, bland, or dry, extremely affordable too, my family and I go every week now since we found it ourselves in February, and here it is June, P.S. the family that owns and runs it are very nice and courteous people. read more

My wife and I thought we'd try them last night. Enough food in the steamers but it had been there since lunch and everything was cold, just cold... We couldn't eat most of it. I recently moved out of Gainesville to newberry and although the distance is not very far the food scene is worlds apart. If you want pizza or bar b q well newberry has your back but I was tired of the same 3 restaurants so I got on the Yelp app and looked to see what else my new hometown had to offer and I stumbled upon Red Wok. I ordered a lunch special to go because I did not realize this was an buffet kinda place. But they loaded up my plate so major props to them for not skimping on the serving size. I mean "wow!" This plate was literally piled high. They couldn't fit another noodle in this thing. The price was extremely fair and the taste was ok, not great not bad just good. I gave them an extra star because of how quick and easy the staff made my pick up. I ordered over the phone and hopped in my car and in the time it took me to drive down the road to the restaurant my food was ready to go. It's not my favorite Chinese place but considering it's the only one in town it really is not too bad. read more

This is a good chinese buffet. We were warmly greated upon arrival and directed to a booth. Our drink order was taken and delivered promptly. I always hit the hot n sour soup first and it was tasty. Then I tried a number of dishes offered. Some were definately better than others but all in all the food was good. The staff here is very good about removing used plates and refilling soda. After a few trips I was happy and we were happily thanked by the owner and asked to visit again. I will definately try it again. read more

Red Wok Buffet is deceptive: its location next to a grocery store and a Subway makes it seem from the outside like it may be only a small take-out Chinese joint, but once inside it opens up to a decent-sized dining room with a three-unit buffet. It's a bit worn around the edges, sure, but overall it's clear they try to keep it clean and tidy-they even had Christmas ornaments up for the season when I visited in early December of 2015. The owners/staff are not too talkative but seem concerned with running a quality restaurant, too. I'm not in general a fan of Asian buffets as I fear often the food isn't the highest in quality, probably over-laden in salt and possibly MSG, and may have sat out too long on top of it all. However, after reading the overall good Yelp reviews of Red Wok, I decided to give it a try since I was out in Newberry today anyways. Overall, the food was pretty good. Not exceptional, it was also in the style you'd expect for take-out type American Chinese, but certainly wasn't bad. They were bringing out fresh food while I was there and a couple local high school kids and I circled the buffet like sharks awaiting the fresh honey chicken and teriyaki chicken on a stick to arrive from the kitchen. They also had General Tso's chicken, some pepper chicken dish, egg rolls, crab rangoons, a few other typical meat and stir-fried veggies type dishes, sushi (in a little fridge in the back), and some little desserts like cake and cookies. Out of what I sampled, here's what I thought: The teriyaki chicken on a stick was great and good portions, too. The honey chicken was fresh from the kitchen and very tasty, the General Tso's had sat out a while but if fresh I think would have been very good as well. The crab rangoons were pretty good though the egg roll was just ok. Most of the stir-fry dishes were also ok, but had sat out and were not fresh from the kitchen and since some dishes were, that made those that were not kinda stand out in a bad way. Most of this food, mind you, is not any too healthy: the salt alone is probably off the chain, but for now and then it's not a bad meal and the buffet format is appealing. Had been wanting to try this place for quite a while... But I was completely disappointed! I arrived on a Saturday afternoon about 3:00pm. the place was empty, but so were all the containers of food. I was told more would be coming out in 5 minutes, but much to my disappointment the only thing they brought out was three fresh pans of crap and the rest of the other two islands were still empty. I gag down what I could, went back to see what they brought out fresh, and decided I was done. Even the ice cream had a weird taste to it, look like it was kind of old and freezer burnt on top. Red Wok has three buffet tables of hot food, one of salad and desserts, and an ice cream cooler. All the food was fresh and appetizing, even though we ate at the worst time for that (late afternoon, but not yet "dinner hour" -- the time when many buffets have a bunch of drying remnants instead of fresh fare). Several varieties of chicken, ranging from mild to spicy (Tso's); the best teriyaki "chicken on a stick" I've had in a long time if ever; a couple of pork dishes; several seafood offerings (salmon, shrimp and frog legs); the usual rice, veggie and egg fu yung selections, all attractively presented and well-made. The service was friendly, courteous and efficient without being intrusive or overbearing. Not as full-featured as Ocean in nearby Gainesville -- only a couple of sushi roll selections and no "custom cook hibachi" service -- but less expensive (especially for a Sunday!) and not as crowded. Just ate at the Red Wok this evening. For a Chinese Buffett it was very good, I had a little of just about everything they had, it was all very good and fresh. When I walked in they sat us down immediately, took our drink order and had brought them within 3 minutes. Thru out the dinner they kept our drinks full. Against my better judgement I ordered take out from a Chinese Buffet. Price was very reasonable, but when I got home, EVERYTHING tasted horrible. Every single item from the wanton soup to the fried rice and Mongolian beef had a trace of bleach or dirty dish water taste. The only thing edible was the sweet & sour chicken (probably because it was fried in oil and didn't have a chance to touch a dirt dish), and it still wasn't great. Whoever is managing that kitchen should be ashamed of themselves. Definitely the worst I have ever had. Will never EVER order from there again. I am literally still tasting bleach as I type this, thinking of making myself a PB&J sandwich. read more
