Here I am rolling into class like, "Heh, only 6 credits ," thinking I'm a financial genius, while behind the scenes the studio and the blonde assassin owner are basically getting paid in exposure, incense and dryer lint. I wasn't hacking the system--I was the system. Those credits were straight-up Chuck E. Cheese tokens: "Congrats, you survived heated sculpt, here's 10 tickets and a rubber spider. Also, the studio made 37 cents." Now that I know what's actually going on, I'm fully on Team Blonde Assassin. If anyone's going to roast my form, vaporize my quads, and trigger an emotional breakthrough in savasana, they deserves real money, not a handful of digital coupons. So yeah, RIP to my "free" workouts. I'll be over here swiping my card, supporting the studio, and pretending I totally knew how ClassPass worked this whole time. ‍

Will just start by saying I've been a CPY-er for 8 years in 3 different cities and have loved it…read more But I wanna mention something that seems to have become a real issue in the last 6 months. The heat and, more so, the humidity are out of control in SO many classes these days (at several studios, not just WL). Even though there is a clear chart posted in each studio with the temps and percentages that each class level is to be set at, it seems like each instructor just does whatever they want, unfortunately. I'm ALL for the hot yoga, that's why I go to CPY, but please keep it at the standards that we pay for. Don't set the class to 105 degrees if it's supposed to be at 98 max in a C2, please. I was in a C2 yesterday and saw the tstat said 108. That's insane. I'm paying 200 bucks a month and I want to not be distracted from my workout and my zen by the fact that either I can't breathe or am feeling like I'm dying from how hot and humid you've made it in the room. Please don't crank it up just because one person asked you to, or because you want to. I want to leave feeling like I kicked ass in the correct amount of heat, not was tortured by it and had to leave early to escape it.

By ten minutes, I wasn't even doing Pilates anymore, I was just trying to negotiate with Jesus. Halfway through, that ball turned into my sworn enemy. I wasn't balancing on it, I was plotting its assassination. Every time it slipped, I had flashbacks to middle school dodgeball trauma. At one point, I almost launched it across the studio like a heat-seeking missile aimed at the instructor. The worst part? She didn't even break a sweat. She's smiling, playing Ariana Grande, looking like she's leading a bachelorette dance class, while I'm in the back looking like I just got jumped by IKEA furniture. By the end, I didn't feel stronger. I felt like I'd been spiritually bullied by a beach ball from hell. My dignity? Gone. My core strength? Missing in action. My soul? Filing for workers' comp. But Monica's smile at the end made it all worth it. 12/10--would sign up for the trauma again. Because apparently, I'm into emotional abuse with air-filled props. All joking aside, this place is fantastic and so are its instructors.

I didn't expect much after signing up through ClassPass but am happy to report I'm 5 classes in and still loving it. I regularly attend intense hot yoga at nearby studios, but love the focus on the art of the practice and gentleness here at Harmony Family Yoga. I really enjoyed the Gentle Yoga with SoundBath class with Cici Bo. She's a great instructor and has such a calming presence. Harmony family yoga is perfect for beginners or those far into their practice, definitely drop by!

I started bringing my daughter to the Little Yogis program. She loves is SOOOO much!! She has learned yoga poses AND has SO much fun with Cici and the other kids while she is there AND I sit next door and enjoy some pizza... or a call with a friend.... or both!
