I called last minute for my move and they still accommodated me in their very busy schedule in an interstate move from Syracuse, NY to North Carolina. The guys came in and on a very hot day, they packed everything into the truck, helped me finish packing what I ran out of time to do, and literally drove it down the next day and unpacked everything that same night. The team was fast, kind, friendly, and very encouraging as it was an emotional move. J. & I. especially made the day good - they kept my sister and I laughing and talking instead of stressing. On arrival in NC, there was only one damaged item and once we cleared everything up, the owner took care of me even though he really didn't have to because technically that item wasn't even covered by insurance. Everything else arrived in one piece and they delivered my boxes to the rooms as labeled (even though it was a lot of stairs!) The price was the same in the end that I was quoted, and the only issue was some technical miscommunication that we figured out really quickly and everything worked out great in the end. I recommend J and his team for any moving needs you have - local or out of state! It's a great local company that still holds to integrity and getting the job done.

What I got was (1) no estimate in any kind, though having provided many details about my move, (2) no guarantee about when the move can be scheduled, and (3) the worst temper I have ever encountered for someone speaking to a potential customer. They also called me the morning of my move to let me know the team would be late, though it was within a reasonable time frame. Once on site they assessed what they had to move and then kept one person at the truck to direct the loading while the rest of the team got to work. I lived on a third floor walk up with weird corners and had some heavy furniture to move, such as a pull out bed couch. They handled what I had thought were hard or heavy things with ease. Talking to the team I learned one of the guys had been a mover for 40 years! Talk about experienced! They were used to moving multi-room large houses with much heavier items. The load out was the longest part of my move and load in went fast. Price-wise compared to other companies I looked at they were among the most reasonable. They base their estimates off of time and the final move cost was true to my quote.

On the negative side, their estimate had no relation to the final billing, which was $2,000 above. And this was not due to any unforeseen items or logistical blockages. It was simply, "Oops! Sorry about that." Not acceptable. Finally, be prepared for Ralph's wife, who mans the office, to sear the skin off your face with her rudeness. Bottom line: shop around and get an iron-clad commitment from the mover to stay within a clearly delineated price range.
