Disappointed Two-Time Buyer - Radio Silent Until Threatened with a Return…read more I am a returning customer who previously had a great experience with Auffenberg, but their post-sale communication has completely deteriorated. I recently purchased a used 2015 Toyota Highlander. Within my contractually guaranteed 7-day return window, an independent multi-point inspection revealed a failing alternator, a bad battery an alignment issue. I contacted my sales consultant, Joshua, immediately to see if management would utilize their internal service department to address these electrical components to save the transaction. The dealership completely ignored my messages for days, hoping the clock would run out on my 7-day return policy. Only after I explicitly stated I was preparing to return the vehicle did I finally get a response. The used car manager's solution? They completely ignored the failing alternator and alignment issues, and offered the "goodwill gesture" of selling me a replacement battery at their cost. Shifting the financial burden onto a loyal repeat customer for a failing charging system during a trial window is an insulting way to do business. I declined their offer, kept the vehicle because the core engine is solid, and will be paying my local mechanic to fix it. They have officially lost a loyal customer's future business.

Auffenberg refused to honor the price we paid November 2024 for the exact same vehicle, 1 year 2 months later. Mind you, this would be the 3 vehicles previously purchased from them, and zero care or consideration given. Not to mention, Steve- working at Kia, is the most unprofessional and rude sales person there. I would recommend working with someone else entirely if you even attempt car shopping. He doesn't air out after chain smoking outside, and he will call you stupid if he doesn't understand what you're talking about. He is not professional, and I would be embarrassed to have Steve work for any business of mine. Just because he can sell you a car doesn't mean it's worth the reputation Auffenberg is creating with people like Steve. With that all said, three separate and equally awful experiences with Auffenberg in 2023, 2024, and again January 2026. We learned our lesson - do not buy there or you'll be met with predatory practices. We were literally discouraged to leave a review unless it was good because it only directly affects the sales people who worked with us. Steve needs to be fired, and Auffenberg should really have better business practices. I hope our next brand new car purchasing experience is better than what Auffenberg failed to provide on three separate occasions. Our community deserves better!

I leave work at 5:30pm and hear a scraping sound, I hit the highway and it gets louder, I pull over at the first exit and discover that they didn't attach my skid plate. Thankfully I had AAA, called them and they had to send out two trucks since the first one couldn't repair it. They were going to tow my car until the serviceman was able to do a quick fix on the side of the road. By this time, I had spent over 2 1/2 hours on the side of the road in 90-degree heat on a Friday night where I had dinner plans (these plans were obviously missed). I get home at 8:30pm, a normal 30-minute drive taking 3 hours. I send them an e-mail detailing how they forgot to bolt on my skid plate. Monday they call and I'm told that as long as they have an open bay available, they should be able to get my car in. "What?!" You botch the job and then you're not even guaranteeing that you'll be able to get it fixed the next time I bring it in? They have on their site that they will pick your car up and return it to you, they do not offer me this service. They don't offer a refund, discount or anything, I don't even get an apology in person. The only apology I ever received was via text after they secured my plate. That apology was preceded by the sentence, "There doesn't appear to be GREAT damage to your skidplate". Oh cool, your shop's incompetence damaged my car, but at least it's not "Great" damage. They give you a 20-point inspection when you get an oil change, 6 of those items are "undercar", but apparently nobody noticed a loose skid plate! Which pretty much makes this whole inspection completely worthless as I don't trust it. To put your family name on this business and offer such a crap service is unfathomable to me. I will never come here again.

And working there 10 years changing tired doesn't make you a tire expert. Where are your qualifications, certificates and degrees? Wren tires was $130 and Dobb's is $125 plus free balancing and will even inspect all my tires for free too since they were familiar with the horror stories from cheapies and understood how important my safety is and my concern about driving on a bad tire since I DoorDash all over Madison and St. Clair county and already had a blow out on Hey 203 and a flat in Highland. Plus I'm driving next month to Eureka and will often because it's football season. I should have went here to begin with but I heard they were so expensive. However, I called 7 other tire places and they were all more expensive - Car X being the highest and all of them would of had to order it which takes 1-3 more days (even Wren Tires plus you pay 1/2 upfront) plus that's another reason to have to take time off work and risk driving longer on the bad tire. Dobb's already had it in stock and are friendly, give out their names, prompt (fit me in when they originally had no appointments) after they heard my horror story of what I have endured since 11am today. In fact, Wren Tires heard me talking to Dobbs which escalated them both but I was already waiting on a call back from owner or seeing about a better deal as they put my tires back on the at to drive off . Alex sarcastically said in her exaggerated, flair for drama way, "you've been here over an hour and you need to leave now" so how is that for a way to run a business and use your customer service skills to promote your small business. Actually It was because they were less expensive anyway and if I have to buy a new tire and I have faith in them and have had good luck with them before but tried staying local until Wren Tires disappointed me and took advantage of me so it is not worth the aggravation. They are going through employees like toilet paper. Every time I went they were like that person got fired or quit, etc. There is always a new face. But I'm supposed to take them at their word and trust them, that's a hard no. Their waiting room is sketchy and not well ventilated or you can sit on a hot metal picnic table that is directly in the sun. That's there hospitality. Avoid them at all costs. They will tell you lies just to take your money and then make excuses to not use your warranty. They don't even deserve one star. In addition, the used tires I bought this summer need to be replaced in the next few month before winter because they only work 40% wet. They also broke my tire sensor installing my new tire last Saturday and refused to accept responsibility for it. I will get that at my mechanic because it is higher at Dobbs. Thank goodness for BG Automotive. Now I know who I can trust and who do I need to go see outside this town for quality and professional service.And will honor same tire price when IThey don't know what they are talking about and just push off tires on you do they get paid even if they are no good and have a patch on them. They are an eyesore and a running a scam in this community. Buyer beware or honestly just don't go there.
