I was really surprised with the food and service here. It was super cold, and I did not want to venture out. Ordered the wings, which were done perfectly. Diablo sauce was a sweet/heat sauce. But as it's where we were told to have breakfast that's where I went. They get away with this because they have a captive audience. The crust was a bit thick and reminded us of the type of crust you'll find in store-bought frozen pizza. Toppings were good and the sauce had balanced flavor. Would we go back again? ST PATRICK DAY DISASTER Well, it seemed as good as place as any for a bite to eat on the way home from the mall. Not here for SPD shenanigans', just wanted to feed the 6 yr old and 19 month old some dinner. One hour and 45 minutes later, time I will never get back, we left the restaurant. Frazzled. The reason for this marathon dinner with children was the fact that some line cooks called off on this holiday, presumably to go party themselves. At the very least, depending on past behavior, these employees should be written up for the situation they created for their co workers and customers. So irresponsible. Now, our server and all the other servers were doing the best they could, mostly apologizing! And the bartender was keeping up. However, one problem was that there was no social distancing, every booth was either in use or ready for use. It was busy, but not like a ST Pat's Day. Just average. I could see inside the kitchen from our table, and I could see only 1 poor cook back there, cooking like crazy, trying to keep up. He needs a raise. And the waitress confirmed the lack of staff, Now, the Manager On Duty should have thrown on an apron and helped the 1 cook. That is a manager job. The floor staff was fine, and our server could have handled the floor duties and her tables, she was experienced. Maybe I should have thrown on an apron and help make pizzas, maybe the MOD didn't know how. That was sarcasm. Kids got their food, good; daughter got her food, good;, and then my Coconut Chicken arrived. Is coconut chicken suppose to have black coconut on it? And be black all over? And taste burnt? I will say, the chicken was moist and tender, but had to pull all the burnt coconut batter off. Ick. I've been going to the Green Mill for about a year now and the staff is always so friendly! They are accommodating to your needs and were even helpful when I asked about gluten free options. The bartenders seem knowledgeable about the drinks and shots they're making, and make the guests feel comfortable! I came here a couple years ago and ate in the restaurant. It was okay, average food, service was good. Recently someone told me to give their pizza a try. So, we ordered pizza, picked it up and took it home. It was SO GOOD! Perfect sauce to cheese/topping ratio, fluffy crust! So glad we have them another try. The green mill is one of my most favorite restaurants because of their Diablo sauce. We arrived, and the entire parking lot was over full, people were parking in places that were not parking spots because the venue attached was throwing a party. I called the green mill and asked if they had a wait and they did not so we Found a parking spot and went in. We decided to sit at the bar which had three other patrons so it was pretty much empty. The spot we chose to sit was covered in crumbs. The bartender walked up and literally brushed all of the crumbs off of the bar rather than clean the bar, I was kind of surprised it wasn't clean already because the bar wasn't busy at all. I ordered a drink and then we ordered our food. My drink was empty along with everybody else's at the bar for at least 20 minutes before the bartender came back and finally asked if I wanted another drink, then, after 40 minutes and our food not being done yet, despite the restaurant being basically empty, the bartender advised us that the kitchen was very busy. I don't know if it's because they were catering the event or because of to go orders, I have no idea it really just made no sense, despite the bar and restaurant being fairly empty. The service was extremely slow and the the food took literally 50 minutes and all we ordered were wings, a side salad and a burger. I'll never go back. Awful. First, it took 45+ minutes to get seated; it was busy so we were patient. Took 15+ minutes for the server to come over. Drinks were wrong, in fact when we ordered the server simply just said he didn't know what beer was on tap and left it at that.... And its fine is someone doesn't know something, but follow up and let us know when you check... customer service. The runner could not tell us which dish was what, and eventually he threw the food on the empty table next to us and just let it sit there and the best part was the food that we got was not rung in correctly. Starts off with the negative and explains, but overall a great place. Sitting here now. A few people at bar. I ask bartender ( Morgan) if they have any other ciders. She states yes and says the names. I ask what kind of cider they are. She says "they're cider". Stayed at the hotel for a conference so I ate there 3 times. We didn't have a lot of free time. Meal 1 coconut chicken fingers and a coke. Bar tender helped us and everything was good. We were first here when our niece's wedding guests stayed at the adjacent hotel a few years back. The other day we returned for lunch. The menu is extremely broad, the service pleasant with a nice pub-like atmosphere. We had buffalo wings which come with a choice of multiple sauces, onion rings, and Asian egg rolls to start. Not impressed. We waited quite awhile at the host stand. My husband and I both had pasta dishes and neither of us felt they were cooked very well...under cooked. The first dish my husband wanted had spring and lobster in the pasta. The server came back and told him that they were 'out of the little lobster guys'. He also had to switch his drink. The lemonade was just about water color. The server said he thought it looked different. So, it was replaced with raspberry tea. I personally didn't taste tea...just all raspberry. Ate 1/2 of our entrees and didn't bring them home. I will say, though, the margherita pizza is awesome. However, I do not live in St Cloud anymore. So I don't have the chance to get that. I stayed at the hotel for a vendor & craft show and this was the most convenient place without trying to unhook a trailer just to go eat. My husband and son ate lunch here -- husband had some kind of roast beef sandwich he said was excellent and my son had pizza and he loved it. We went back for supper -- husband had a chicken dish, I had a desert pasta (spicier pasta with shrimp) -- excellent dish -- and son had pasta & meatballs. They often have specials that help to trim your bill. We do like their pizzas, pasta, and their happy hour specials (half-priced appetizers and personal pizzas). Service has been hit or miss at times. The restaurant can also get loud. It's a farily typical restaurant/bar with several television screens for watching games. However, the patio is great during nice weather. Hit the Green Mill during Happy Hour and sit on the patio, and you can have a nice time. While we love the deep dish pizza, we don't always have the time (40 minutes) to wait for it. That's okay, because we enjoy their traditional crust pizzas as well. My aunt and uncle were in for a few days for my brother's wedding in St. Cloud. We stayed at the Best Western and we had a special deal, for $65 you get a room by the pool with an extra large pizza at Green Mill. My aunt and uncle got a room and my wife and I did. Cool....2 pizzas! We sat down for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty empty. We ordered Diet Cokes which were refilled all the time, which is always a plus. My wife doesn't eat cheese so we ordered a spinach and chicken pizza, but with cheese on only one half of the pizza. After about 15 minutes, our pizza comes out and it is prepared. It had the perfect amount of cheese and no cheese, but my only complaint was that the crust was a little too crispy, but my wife loved the crust, so all was awesome. The service both times we went (The second pizza was just as good) The service was so great, that it was a solid restaurant. TVs were everywhere, which also added to the ambiance. read more

After complaining to the waitress she explained the cook was confused. Several other tables complained of the same problem. When the food came out it was lukewarm at best and was blander than dog food. The night prior we were at the same hotel for a wedding. They had only one bartender on at this place and he was horribly overwhelmed. Someone mentioned that the Green Mill in a St Cloud, MN was heard to have an above average Thanksgiving buffet. It turns out this advice was rather forgiving in its appraisal of the offering at this establishment. We were greeted by a hostess who showed us to our table, a setting akin to any cafeteria table at your local middle school. Once seated we were left to fend for ourselves. Obviously at a banquet style dinner one doesn't expect to order food, but perhaps a beverage would be nice? We began trying to make the most of it and dared ourselves to engage the oddly arranged presentation of isolated tables with a few of those unremarkable metallic food warming things placed on each. The turkey was over here, the gravy (using the term in only a way something out of a store bought jar could a describe) over there, the stuffing somewhere else, all surrounding the highlight of the operation... the dessert tray. After solving the plate filing puzzle that someone, somewhere dreamt up the night before the festivities began, amidst what had to be a heavily intoxicated haze, we found our way back to our table. The highlight was the ham, if only for the reason that I witnessed someone "carve" it off an actual ham. And after devouring said ham, I realized something; since we entered this hall, there has not been one member of what people in the food serving business call wait staff. We had no beverages, no stand to get a beverage, no person to get us a beverage, there wasn't even water, anywhere in the hall! Whatever we'll make the most of it. The conversation was a pleasant distraction from the dry, salt induced reality we found ourselves in. You know the feeling. That sensation brought on by eating processed food that had been tortured under the unregulated furnace that is one of those metal warming things. Parched is an understatement. One of our party had enough and went to the only employee we had seen since entering the hall, the hostess. And minutes later there was something amazing that happened... a second employee was witnessed, and she was headed our way! Sweet Jesus let it be true. Well, it did indeed turn out to be true. She took our beverage order and was off to procure that which was so entirely necessary to continue eating this high quality, err... food. A third employee made his way to our table and asked us for our beverage order?!? I struggled to free my tongue from the roof of my now dehydrated and glue-like mouth to explain to him that our order had already been taken and that the second employee should be bringing our drinks out shortly (please god, please). The third employee then mentioned that, get this, the second employee is actually the manager AND she told him to come take our beverage order because that is not her job. LOL, literally, I laughed out loud when he said that. So, not only did she not get our drinks, but she refused to even disseminate the ever so necessary drink order she had taken some time ago. This is management at it's finest, highly communicative, empowering, and goal oriented. Needless to say, the third employee eventually arrived with our drinks and promptly emptied his tray on the closest patch of table he could find and then POOF, he was gone. Fantastic, at least we have liquid. We have no idea which liquid belongs to who, but it's wet and in front of us, and we needed that. The entire table, almost in unison, gulped whichever glass was closest and we all smiled. Thirst quenched, we were left to evaluate whether a second trip to the feed bag was in order. Turns out, it wasn't, not for a single one of us, except one daring sole. And upon her bravery, there were a few other intrepid souls. My hat goes off to them as they forced their bodies to endure the trial they knew was ahead. I can only assume they were under the impression that at this point, beverages would be a regular feature of this dining experience. Sadly, they would soon learn that the arid, waterless existence of the very near past was but foreshadowing of the reality to come. The third employee never reappeared. The second employee was no where to be seen. And the sticky, paste-like film in their mouths was the parting gift, a gift thoughtful in its undeniable presence. It was made clear to us that our time of thankful revelry had passed, checks were strewn about our table, as a horde of minions began stacking chairs, breaking down tables, and doing whatever with what had been presented as "food". Needless to say, it will be a Thanksgiving to remember, and not for the reason any business owner should be proud of. The dining experience at the Green Mill on 4th, attached to the Kelly Inn in St. Cloud, MN was horrendous. An experience that all but ensures neither myself, nor anyone in our dinner party, nor any soul I can forever each, will be enjoying any experiences at this establishment in the unending future. Very disappointed with this place. After being seated we waited almost 10 minutes without anyone coming to take our order. I walked over to the hostess that seated us and asked if she could find a waitress for us. After a few more minutes I asked a waitress that walked by if she could find our server. Finally someone comes over to take our order. Normally I would leave a restaurant after about 5 minutes of no one coming to the table to tell us they would be right with us or whatever, but this place has gluten free options and I was pretty content watching the football game. Unfortunately the service never got much better. We had to constantly ask for refills (the glasses are small). There was one girl at the bar that did come over and refill our water a couple times without us having to ask and was very friendly but she was the only one. I ordered wings and they came out with no plates and were cold. I had to ask for a couple of plates the next time the waitress came back. The wings were also not hot enough. If I had to equate this restaurant to another, I'd say this was an older version of an Applebees. The crowd that this restaurant draws is typically older. The appearance and ambiance inside the restaurant give an older generation type feeling. So I was pretty hesitant to dine here. It was very typical of a family restaurant. They serve a little bit of everything here with nothing really standing out. They had told us their specialty was the pizza so we ordered a large deep dish with pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage. As an appetizer we started with the nachos. Both weren't bad, but weren't anything spectacular. The drinks were cheap though. $1 for margaritas and they weren't watered down. This was a big plus. I mean, if you have to eat "OK" level food, it's always better to do it while getting tanked. The service really lacked here. I kept making the reference that "Buddy Holly" isn't much a waiter because it seemed like we were kind of side lined. We had parties and couples served faster and tended to more than our group. The buffalo chicken wrap was DANGEROUSLY hot and the tortilla had the texture of taxedermied human skin. I was here for a convention the weekend of May 20. The group of women I was with ordered three Artisan Flatbreads for the table. We had two spinach artichoke (that we added chicken) and the chicken diablo. They were both tasty. I liked the chicken diablo best, I think mostly because it had a little kick to it. The spinach artichoke was good too, and the balsamic vinegar drizzled on it gave it a nice finish. I had water only but others at the table were drinking. Our server seemed to be slow coming to the table on the return. I was late in joining our group and when she asked what I wanted it seemed to be forever for her to come back. I drank my friend's water before she came back to take an order and still hadn't remembered it. She did finally catch on and bring a pitcher of water. read more
