The backyard itself turned out nice, and overall, the construction only took one day to complete, which was definitely a positive. Unfortunately, our overall experience with the communication and professionalism--particularly with Otem--was extremely frustrating. When we initially discussed the project, Otem told us that we wouldn't have to make a payment until the following month. Based on that conversation, we understood that we had time before anything was due and felt comfortable moving forward. What made the situation even more frustrating is that construction was started before we were even approved for the loan. We were never clearly informed about what our financial responsibility would be if the financing didn't work out as expected. Once the backyard was completed, we were suddenly told that we owed around $3,800. We were understandably confused because this was not what we had been led to believe. Ultimately, we had to take out two separate loans to cover the project. We understand that financing terms and APR are based on credit, and we are not blaming Otem for the interest rate we qualified for. Our issue is that this conversation should have happened before construction started. If our financing hadn't even been approved yet, we feel that we should have been made aware of the potential costs and financial responsibility before the work was completed. When we tried explaining this to Otem, it felt like he wasn't understanding what we were actually upset about. Regardless of whether he personally handles financing or another department does, customers should be clearly informed about their financing, payment expectations, potential out-of-pocket costs, and APR before a major project begins. Unfortunately, the financial issues weren't even our only concern. During the construction process, our backyard gate was left open, and our dogs got out and ran away. Thankfully, we were able to find them, but this was incredibly stressful and could have ended very differently. When working in someone's backyard, especially when there are pets on the property, making sure gates are securely closed should be a basic responsibility. Overall, we are happy with how the backyard looks and appreciated that the project was completed in just one day. However, the lack of communication regarding the financing, the unexpected $3,800 balance, having to take out two loans, and the incident with our dogs made the overall experience much more stressful than it needed to be. We hope the company takes this feedback seriously and improves communication about financing before construction begins, as well as being more careful about securing gates and protecting customers' pets while working on their property. read more

GREEN LEAF REMODELING -- BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE HIRING THIS COMPANY My experience with Green Leaf Remodeling was extremely disappointing and has been one of the most stressful experiences I have had as a homeowner. What I experienced was very different from the professional remodeling company I believed I was hiring. When I began questioning the quality of the work and asking for receipts and documentation, Ken Galadini, who identified himself as the project manager, became rude and disrespectful. I was told, "This isn't a burger stand where you get itemized receipts. I will fix the problem, and that's all you need to know." There was also an incident involving Ken and his father, Isaac, having a verbal altercation inside my home regarding family financial issues. Later that same day, Ken's father confronted me outside my home, yelling and demanding payment for work that had not been completed. This was extremely concerning and made me question the professionalism and management of my project. Unfortunately, before I fully understood the problems with my own project, I referred Green Leaf to my sister because I believed they were a legitimate remodeling company. Although my sister's project was placed under Ken's other company, the same project manager and similar practices were involved. Her bathroom was left torn out and unfinished, permits were not approved, and the project was eventually abandoned for more than two months. She was left with plumbing and other conditions requiring correction. I deeply regret referring my sister because I made that recommendation before I fully understood what was happening with my own project. The situation with my own bathroom became even more serious when the City became involved. A stop-work order and corrective-action requirements were issued, and I was informed that my home was considered uninhabitable and presented a fire risk. I have now been out of my home for almost eight months because of the condition of my property. Another major concern was the permitting. My entire bathroom was demolished, yet the permit submitted to the City represented the work as "like-for-like." The actual condition and scope of the work became a significant issue when the City inspected the project and required corrective notice and stop order. I paid Green Leaf $22,750 and was left with incomplete and deficient work requiring substantial additional repairs. I have photographs, permits, inspection records, communications, payment records, and other documentation supporting my experience. Documentation is everything. Take pictures, document conversations, keep receipts, get everything in writing, verify permits, and monitor the project closely. Don't let five-star reviews be the only thing you consider. Check Yelp and the BBB, ask for references, verify the contractor's license and bond, and ask to see actual completed work. CSLB does not generally disclose individual complaint details to consumers, so do your own research and look beyond the licensing record. Also check the contractor's bond amount before signing. If the bond is less than the amount you are paying or the potential cost of your project, understand that the bond may not cover all of your losses if something goes wrong. Green Leaf may disagree with my account. That is why I have kept photographs and documentation of the actual work and the condition in which my home was left. Green Leaf, you said you didn't know who I was. Let me reintroduce myself--not with words, but with the photographs and documentation showing the actual work and the condition in which my home was left. I am sharing my experience because I want to bring awareness and help other homeowners protect themselves. Homeowners need to speak up and expose bad practices so others have the opportunity to make informed decisions before trusting a contractor with their home. We had Green Leaf remodeling over to give us an estimate on a bathroom remodel. They were very personable. It "seemed" upon inspection that we had a small mold problem and they quoted a very high price to fix it. We felt at the time that we had been taken advantage of. After several weeks of heated conversations they agreed to terminate the contact and as a courtesy, charge us zero for the work already done, which was a kind gesture. We very much appreciate that they made it right. As, we did not get the whole project done, I can't comment on a total remodel experience. We moved to a new build community. Their salesperson was extremely pushy to my 17 year old son when he answered the door. My husband had just pulled into the driveway so they approached him. He set up an appointment for a consultation. Green Leaf called because they couldn't make the appointment and wanted to reschedule. No problem. So we rescheduled. They then called back, asking to come earlier. We told them we wouldn't be home and that we should just keep the rescheduled appointment time. They called again asking to reschedule to another time. We set up a new time and then they showed up 30 minutes late unprepared. Based on the pushiness, all of the rescheduling, and lack of professionalism I would never use them or recommend them to anyone. read more

Wanted to get a quote so I called them and set a time and date. First, they had a guy show up 2 hours before our planned time. Then the guy doing the quote showed up 1 hour and a half hours later than our originally planned time. They gave me a quote and I didn't like it, which I told the manager, Ezekiel, over the phone. The quote was 3x what other companies have given. Not only do they overcharge, they have continued to call me from spoofed numbers, sometimes up to 5 times a day, so I do not have any way of blocking these calls.
