Agreed to proceed with one bid at a time. Glad I did that. BTW bids came in far lower than other competitors. Now I know why. I'm not going to bash the experience with detail, but here's something to note: Skeleton crew. The regular down to earth blue collar workers they were had me trusting them but I found myself constantly asking questions as after the contract was signed, communication slowed drastically. I thought more detail would be discussed. Think this particular job was out of their lane and, to me, they left it incomplete/did the bare minimum/ couldn't wait to get outta there. They also were random in their work schedule. Sometimes there for half a day then you wouldn't see em for days. It took at least double the time projected. Thought maybe it could be a fluke as there were some noticeable issues with the business which seemed out of their control, so asked for some updates to job 1 bid. I was assured a bid would be revised/sent, but ironically, I cut the final check for the job completed, then I was ghosted. Tried to give this business benefit of the doubt, but they constantly showed red flags. Hey if you like letting a businesses take full control of your project, its basic and you don't really care about detail, this is a business for you. A lot of the photos show very basic 101 jobs completed on here. Hope everyone learns something from my experience.

I had this company come out last summer. He built a couple of retaining walls and performed that…read morework beautifully. However the landscape portion was terrible. First of many problems: the watering controller he installed did not work properly from the get-go. I told Pete about it and requested a receipt for the controller (it was the end of the job so he wasn't planning to return). Instead he came out and fiddled with the controller and said it works fine. He left and it still didn't water according to the settings so he came out again (after the job was completed) and fiddled some more, saying again there was nothing wrong with the controller. He never gave me a receipt, so as the same problem kept occurring, I finally had to replace it. Because Pete never gave me a receipt (I suspect he used a controller he had sitting around, and not a new one for my job, however he told me it was "professional grade" and cost $300), I couldn't return it and had to spend more money on the new controller. Very irritating. Irrigation system and planting: I asked him to add on to the existing drip irrigation system and bring water to several fruit trees and numerous new shrubs I requested that he put in. However he installed 1 gal. drippers to everything, whether it was a large existing fruit tree or a new small shrub. Fruit trees require a lot more water...Pete told me he was an arborist so he should know the right amount of water fruit trees need. Now I'm having to switch out these drippers myself to something that provides adequate water. Again not something I should have to be doing. I requested all cascading rosemary shrubs in numerous locations. He installed half cascading rosemary and half something else (I don't know the name...he didn't provide any tags). My bad for not saying something at the time, as I thought the additional color might be pretty. Well, the other plants he selected COMPLETELY took over the area covering the slower growing cascading rosemary. Now I have to tear some of those plants out and put them elsewhere, so that I can see the plants I requested in the first place. Some of the new plants he put in began to die after a while so I looked a little closer to figure out why. Half the root system was above ground...the hole was not dug nearly deep enough! I tried to correct this but unfortunately the plants were too far gone so my effort was not in time. Finally, I asked Pete to shore up some fence posts that were lagging. It was a picket fence surrounding a small patch of my front yard. I asked him to go around and check each post. I am too trusting...I assumed he had done that. However, he only shored up 4 fence posts and not the posts on either side of the gate, the ones that needed attention the most. Overall, I am pretty unhappy with the job this company did for me. I read other reviews stating how detail oriented Pete was for them...He did not pay attention to the details of my landscaping project, and I'm not sure he dealt honorably with me about the controller problem. I would not recommend him/his company.

He responded quickly to our initial call for a consultation. During his first visit, he recommended new sprinkler heads, and taking advantage of a water line to add 2 more sprinklers. He sent a quote and within 2 weeks all the work was done. You can even tell that he dug up 10' of sod to add a fifth sprinkler. I found Adrian to be professional, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and on time. I hig Update: May 11th. Adrian text me and asked how the sprinklers were doing. I told him I felt they needed a little adjustment, and within a few hours he was at our home. He made the adjustments and added minutes to the timer. That's great customer service. Thank you Adrian.

I can't say enough good things about Eddie and his crew at Eagleview Landscaping. After years of…read morewater pooling around the foundation of my home, I knew I needed to get proper drainage installed to divert water away from the house. I had already spoken with several landscaping companies, and I was honestly struggling to find someone I felt confident would come up with the right solution. I received some surprisingly high quotes, including from companies that were willing to recommend drainage solutions without even coming out to personally assess the property. That made me very hesitant about moving forward. Then Eddie reached out through Yelp, and even from our initial phone conversation, I had a completely different feeling. He took the time to listen, explain what issues I might be dealing with, and walk me through the different drainage options. At first, I was hesitant about the $300 survey fee for the laser measurement of the property's slope. Looking back, I realize this was one of the best parts of the process. Rather than guessing where the water was going or what needed to be done, Eddie was able to properly assess the slope and use that information to determine the best drainage solution for my property. The $300 survey fee is subtracted from the final cost if you use them, which is nice.  Eddie provided me with a very detailed quote and even sent me a video showing the problem areas in my yard since I wasn't able to meet him in person. I'm someone who likes to understand exactly what I'm paying for, so I had A LOT of questions. Eddie spent a good amount of time on the phone with me explaining everything, and I never once felt rushed or like I was being a nuisance. He made sure I understood what we were doing and why. Once we scheduled the work, Eddie also handled having the property properly marked by PG&E before they began digging. Throughout the project, I received updates and videos showing the progress and any issues they came across. There were a couple of additional problems they discovered along the way, and Eddie was upfront about them and provided quotes before doing any additional work. The drainage project was a big job, but his crew completed it within the original estimated timeframe, which I was very impressed with given the size of the project and the Sacramento heat! They also did a great job cleaning everything up afterward. The grass definitely took a hit from the work and the intense Sacramento summer heat, but Eagleview even replaced the areas of grass that had been dug up with new sod. Most importantly, I now feel confident that I have a proper drainage system in place to divert water away from my home instead of allowing it to pool around the foundation like it had been doing for years. And knowing that the work comes with a warranty gives me even more peace of mind. A huge THANK YOU to Eddie and his entire crew for the hard work, professionalism, communication, and care they put into this project. I didn't have an issue with paying in cash, but given the substantial amount involved, I wanted clear confirmation and documentation of the arrangement. Before the project began, I emphasized that I wanted a very low-maintenance landscape because I don't have time for regular watering or upkeep. I originally requested a sprinkler system, but Eddie strongly advised that it wasn't necessary for my project, so I relied on his recommendation of a drip system. Additionally, even after I confirmed which plants I desired, he either quoted an excessive amount or planted items I informed him that I was not pleasing to my eye. One thing I did appreciate was that, as others have mentioned, he regularly provided video updates throughout the project. That level of communication was helpful. At the same time, I was also having a pool built, and whenever damage occurred, Eddie tended to blame the other. Fortunately, the pool company covered the repairs regardless of who was actually responsible. However, one fence board remained broken even after the pool contractor had completed their work and left the project. The project also experienced several delays. Some were understandable due to weather or because work from other contractors had to be completed first. However, there were also times when my project was postponed so his crew could work on other jobs first, which became frustrating. There were also interactions that I felt were unprofessional. I was asked personal questions about what I do for work and how I could afford my home and car, along with comments implying that my job alone wouldn't support that lifestyle. Those conversations were inappropriate and unrelated to the project. I understand that I can be detail-oriented, and I know that may have been frustrating at times. However, after investing well over $100k into renovating my backyard, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect careful attention to detail and quality workmanship. My biggest disappointment came after the project was completed. When I reached out about issues that needed to be addressed, I was often told that they weren't his crew's responsibility or that I simply needed to hire a gardener because my plants were dying. That response was especially frustrating because I had been very clear from the beginning that I wanted a low-maintenance yard and specifically did not want to hire a gardener immediately after the project. I relied on his expertise and recommendations, so I expected the landscaping to be installed in a way that aligned with those goals. Overall, while Eddie may be a good fit for smaller, less complex projects, my experience with a large-scale project left me disappointed. Between the delays, communication issues, unprofessional comments, and lack of accountability after completion, I cannot recommend him for major landscaping projects. I would also like to note I followed up with Eddie on several occasions and stated "he is overwhelmed with my project and done all the work as required."

I was looking for someone to audit my landscape for MWELO submission. He was asking $350 per valve…read moreand for 6 valves, the total would be $2100. I got it done from someone else for less than half the price. The other person was equally responsive and got it done fast. I obviously don't have any idea of what additional level of service is provided by Wicks - but all I know is whatever the other guy did, that was enough and we got the certification done. And that is what I was looking for - keep it simple and get the job done. Personally, the county has made a big mess in the implementation of the MWELO completion. You could have a very expensive home and the county takes care of the inspection - this way, you don't have to shop around for a person to take care of it. Now that you need an external auditor for MWELO, these external auditors are preying on the unsuspecting public and asking for whatever money they want and hope to get away with it. Part of the reason here is that for some people, the certificate of occupancy is tied to the MWELO completion. So that is what Wicks was trying to offer me - he could do the inspection the next day and have the audit report the following day and offering to not collect payment until the certificate of occupancy was received. While conceptually what he is doing is good, all he is doing is preying on people who are really ready to put the house construction behind them and move into the house ASAP - so he is basically dangling a quick inspection for an obscene price for very few hours of work. We were already in the house - so we had no urgency on the occupancy certificate and the other person who charged much less, got it done equally fast. In summary - if you are up the creek and can't find someone, sure go for this company but else save yourself some serious dough and look around. =============== In response to what was posted by the owner of the company. - While I actually didn't do business, I did reach out to engage. What I am reporting is my first hand experience on the pricing. - My frustration with the county on MWELO is really about the issue of county exposing the home owners to vendors who are willing to ask for any price since the home owner has no choice but to get the audit completed. Wicks irrigation pricing is a prime example of why homeowners would be frustrated by this. - I didn't want to but I will post - the other guy charged me $800. Obviously the other guys is running his own business too but he has figured out how to do it efficiently. From a customer perspective, there is a big difference between $800 and $2100. And the other guy met the state and the local regulations and his certification was accepted by the county.
